- In this video ill be installing a 2014-2018 rear step bumper on my 2007 GMC Sierra (this is the same as 2007-2013 model years). I sourced a used bumper locally and the install process was fairly simple.

I did the same with my 2008 GMC Sierra. Took all the badges and door moldings and added 22 Inch GMC original wheel with A/T tires. Looks like a new truck..looks good with that upgraded rear step bumper.

No problem! Hopefully it goes smoothly for you! I’d recommend test fitting before you do any cutting/trimming. It seems like it’s 50/50 on whether you have to or not.

So you used your same wire harness from the original bumper one the new one and just bought the light that fit the 2014 bumper?

Bro i started laughing my ass off when i saw “Install Attempt #1” … i almost frickin lost it when you said you had to smack the bed with the ole dead blow!! Man i wish i woulda CZcamsd this first! I kept hearing it was a direct bolt-on… it is definitely not! Got a China special sitting in my garage right now.. can’t even get the brackets on! Oh well it was time for a beer break anyway 🤣🤣🤣
I continue to see people posting that it fits directly on which leaves me so confused! I believe my bumper may be an aftermarket one as well so maybe that is the difference haha.

What about with the sensors, would they have the same connector ?
I’m wondering if cutting away at the bracket near the step takes away any structural rigidity from the step?

I’m not really sure, because I’ve seen numerous people say they didn’t require any modification. Maybe OE bumpers vs aftermarket?
Do I need to buy an OEM bumper to get the same strength steel? There's a huge difference in price between OEM parts and something off of carparts
Likely yes, the metal thickness will be thinner on an aftermarket bumper.
Looking to install this on my 08 Silverado. Did you have to swap the license plate lights harness?
Yes, you’ll need to swap your existing harness over to the new bumper.
Do the bumper brackets fit on the inside or the outside of the truck bumper mounts
The bumper brackets bolt on on the inside of the frame rails.
Did you have to do any modifications to the bumper brackets or did they mount right up?

Hi i have a 2008, 2500 HD IN SUPER CONDITION , i know that in your description of the video it say's up to 2018 but i can get my hand on a 2019 do you think that will fit to ??? Super video
For 2500s, you should be good using a ‘19 bumper as I don’t believe they changed over until 2020.
Why can’t a 2500/3500 bumper be put on a 07-13 1500, will the bumper bracket not work if you get new ones

I reused my factory bumper harness and the part # + ordering information for the trailer plug I used can be found in the description of the video!

Nope, I simply reused the harness from my original bumper.
The brackets from the 08-13 bumper won’t feet the 14-18 or are the same
You need to utilize the brackets from the 14+ bumper.
Is that a Silverado or Sierra bumper I’m trying to do the same swap
From my understanding, Sierra’s and Silverado’s have the same bumper. The bumper I installed I bought used and honestly don’t remember what it came off of.

I installed the harness from my truck (07) onto the 14+ bumper.

I have a problem I instal it but it leaves a gab on both side of the bumper is that normal
Mine has slight gaps on either side, but nothing that looks out of place.

Yes, a 14+ 2500/3500 bumper can be installed on an 07-13 2500/3500.

@@Dylan_Draper alright thanks man and also was it hard to take off the original bumper and what bolts did u have to take off ? Never done this before and this will be my first time taking it off myself
@@nnbsjesse2447 removing the factory bumper was pretty straight forward. If I remember correctly there are only like 6-8 bolts securing it to the frame.
