    You don’t need to move the bed at all to remove the bumper. I’m a body technician & no need for that brother 👍🏼

      You can use a breaker bar to get this job done. Watch the video, I use one several times. You can also purchase an impact drill from your local hardware store. They aren't that expensive.

      @The Brothers Workshop After removing the old one, I realized that the used one I purchased had a different bracket (appears to be from a 2500). I attempted to just swap the brackets, but the torx bolts were rusted beyond functional, so new brackets are on order.

    • @TheBrothersWorkshop
      @TheBrothersWorkshop  Před rokem +2

      Sorry to hear that. There is a difference between the 2500 and 1500 bumpers. Most people don't notice, until you look closely.

    • @TheBrothersWorkshop
      @TheBrothersWorkshop  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Chloe, It was pretty difficult to remove the plastic with the bumper off. I'm not sure if it's impossible, but it definitely won't be easy to remove the plastic with the bumper still on the truck.

      @TheBrothersWorkshop  Před 3 lety +1

      Cesar, you will need your key to remove the cap that covers the tire release tunnel. I have no idea what the technical term is for that part. That cap is located next to the license plate.

    How did you remove the rear bumper trim?

    • @TheBrothersWorkshop
      @TheBrothersWorkshop  Před 3 lety +1

      Noah, there are a lot of screws and plastic clips. You will need to un-screw everything and pop the plastic clips out. Be careful with the clips, they can break easily. If you watch the video you'll see us install the trim. Just reverse what we do during the install. Thanks for watching!

    • @TheBrothersWorkshop
      @TheBrothersWorkshop  Před rokem +1

      You can remove the bumper without lifting the bed, but it's rather difficult. There are many ways you can lift the bed up, I just chose the forklift because it was easy for me to do by myself. If you have friends with you they could assist in lifting the bed.

      Ranch Hand bumpers are cool, but they have downfalls. Most notable is the that they rust quickly. That's a major issue here in the north east, and the reason why we replaced the original bumper with an OEM bumper.

      Put a 4x4 wood block under the rear or the truck bed. Use a floor jack to pick up the bed with the wood block. Works well and safer than involving a forklift.

      take the tailgate off notch out where the brackets are and no need to go through all that trouble lifting the bed and you can't see where you notched it out after the bumper is put on. me and brother did this today.

      @@kr5289 I thank you for your direction and patience in helping me! In the last two weeks I’ve sustained two collisions. #1 was an A frame sign placed where one wouldn’t expect one. And because the 90 degree angle made it virtually invisible I hit it at 20mph and did $2400 damage. School is liable on that one. Yesterday I parked my truck for about 7 minutes and came out and saw my rear bumper pushed in! So the rear left side has about $1500 damage on it. Hit and run! I’m so lucky

      No, I do not believe so. It's very difficult to remove the plastic because you have to do it from the rear. If you can get your hands in there give it a shot and let us know how it works.

      Found the answer. There are only 4 bolts to remover the bumper and leave the frame rails in place. No need to loosen the box, nothing. Still all the wires etc to disconnect, but that’s life! Not nearly as hard!!
