In a nutshell, the song's about giving up old grudges and hangups that weigh you down mentally so you can move on and learn from them. There's a bunch of alchemical and horoscopic / astrological reference in the lyrics too because it's Tool and they love to flavour their songs with mystic sounding stuff. The scream is 28 seconds long? It wouldn't surprise me if it was actually 29 and a bit seconds long then as the time it takes Saturn to orbit the sun is apparently 29.4 years, and the line 'Saturn ascends' alludes to the orbit of Saturn and a horoscope thing called 'Saturn Return', which is a period of reflection and growth in people (e.g. mid-life crisis sits in the same ballpark). It's quite likely the singer doesn't actually believe any of that stuff literally, but it sure makes for good lyric fodder.

Tool doesn’t explain what their lyrics mean because they want the listener to decide for themselves. That being said, he is what I get from the lyrics:
Saturn / Kronos was the Greek god who swallowed his children after hearing of a prophesy that he would be overthrown by his kin. It’s an allegory of the destruction and harm we will do even to those we love most in order to maintain control.
Saturn is also known as the symbol for maturity, Karma, and learning difficult lessons. It takes about 29 years to complete 1 orbit, so it’s been known as the bringer of hard-earned wisdom.
If we don’t allow ourselves to let go of grudges and negative beliefs, we will be consumed by them.
“Saturn comes back around” is an analogy for the choices we have:
Face challenging truths about ourselves OR double down on our dysfunction until the lonesome end of our lives.
It’s not a happy message, but it’s a potent one.

This is my favorite tool song. This and reflection. Also their cover of no quarter. I saw them live in Boston a few weeks ago and it was so sick and trippy. I like to smoke weed and oddly enough it was easier to get weed into a venue when it was illegal here so my buddy brought edibles. Outside the garden I asked him how many he would take to get blazed and he said 3 so I took 6 and my two buddies didn’t same. Halfway into the first song they kicked in and the show was incredible.

all the sounds you cant explain are more than likely the doing of this man Danny Carrey on Percussions. So no triangles or whatever.. 4 piece band Guitar, Bass, Drums and vocals. Google them learn about them! maynard is especially interesting character with all his ventures. ingenious human being.! BEST BAND EVER!!!

It's very important to be patient with Tool and their intros and slower sections, they are both equally critical to the composition as a whole...Just be patient and you'll get what you need I assure you. Love your reactions, Sub'd for more Tool reactions. You'll wanna do audio only with very few exceptions is the most impactful for most, skip most any video.

There most definetly is a right way to react to tool... audio only... all the videos u find are super distracting and take your brain from focusing on all the intricacies of their music... lyric video are ok if there is no other visuals. All tool fans agree to avoid the videos on first listen. O and sunce u mentioned it, tool on shrooms is the best thing a pwrson could ever do... mind opening, soul expanding... literally a perfect experience imo
