Hooray thanks for this video finally someone who demonstrates while talking. Others just talk and piss you off. Thank you thank you.
Best demonstration of hip issues I've seen yet
Thank you so much @Super Nova! Glad to hear you found the video helpful. Have you tried any of stretches already? Do let me know. Best wishes, Ashley.
@@PrecisionWellbeing yes I have and they seem to be loosening things up. I had hip replacement surgery a year ago and things have gone pretty good but all of a sudden out of nowhere it started hurting. Your video narrowed it down and it seems to be related to muscle spasms. I need to strengthen the area around my hip back up. I never really got my full strength back since my surgery. Thanks for your feedback and keep up the great work on the videos.
That's great to hear! You're most welcome! Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery. Best wishes, Ashley.

Thank you, young man. I was starting to think I was moving into the realm of arthritis. But once you explained the differences in where the pain was, and what was most likely to cause it, I realized that I need to stretch my muscles out. So, I went from an arthritis sufferer, to totally cured of arthritis in less than 20 minutes.....a miracle. Thank you again.
@Uncanny Tricks Sarcasm.. He stretched a tight muscle and it felt better. You know like...following the video ?
Mark
I wanna ask you
How do that
I need to contact you pls
Best vlog on the subject. I must have seen hundreds of vlogs on this issue but without proper planning. Most of them fail to achieve the purpose because we can't see any damn thing because of the subtitles which is covering the model or his own actions. Kindly be aware of that.
Help me: I haven't been able to lay on my left side for 15 years I had atrophy from an accident it's smaller than my right side but knees, depression, life, work keep me from exercising I think its muscles now. I heard a noise though at 31 lifting equipment I use bengay 247 and wrap a back brace around just to stand I'm screwed
Just one session of stretching and I already feel better! I was told I needed hip replacement. I donât think so.
Omg! I'm in my late 20s and I am worried so much what causing me this unbearable pain. This person should become a professor some day, because the way he explains, with examples, and when he stands up and showed where does he meant, and how to test, and what should we do.... Very comprehensive. I need to get more stretches definitely. I'm subscribing and following you Doc. Thanks a lot may good bless you. I like the way he explained simple and neat. đ
You are a remarkable teacher. Your clarity and
Your ability to explain and demonstrate everything is truly a gift.
Thank you. đ„°đ€
You are most welcome. Glad to hear that the video was helpful. Please do let me know how it goes. Best wishes, Ashley.
@@PrecisionWellbeing how to save it to reread on occasion and ALSO SHARE W/ OTHERS!! THANKS.
I've been to a physical therapist. He never stretched me! Pain kept coming!! Now I strtch...I can walk!! I feel normal again. I'm a stretcher for life now.
Thank you so much! Glad to hear the video was informative. Best wishes, Ashley.
I am 66 years old, and I have osteoarthritis in my hip and have pain in the pelvic area. You have given me more information on stretching and exercises to do in that area than my physical therapist explained. Thank you again, and God bless you.đ
So do I. I'm 61 and it's getting worse and worse, I can't sleep at all. How have you managed it the hip?
Me too, Iâm 68 and itâs got a lot worse lately. Will try the exercises.
This is just incredible. The volume of information that is easy to understand in this video is incomparable to anything Iâve come across. I began to experience lumbar back pain/stiffness that began to migrate into my right hip over the last 15-16 months. Iâve spent so many hours with physical therapists, yet never have walked away with this much education & understanding about what is causing my pain, in which muscle, tendon, etc itâs likely in & the various ways in which to address it, safely but effectively.
I donât understand why so many trained health professionals, physicians all the way through to Physical therapists are so unwilling or unable to educate & openly share all of the information theyâve obtained/acquired/discovered through their own education, careers & practicesâŠ.Even when it is so valuable & even life changing for their patients.
Thank you for this! Definitely subscribing.
I'm so hoping
Perfectly put. I couldnât agree more!
Thatâs the best description of hip pain Iâve seen, I was diagnosed with bursitis and this clarifies the condition, thanks
Your explanation was an Ah ha moment. Thank you.
Bursitis on arthritis for me. Looking for relief.
You're very welcome Harold! I'm glad it helped. Wishing you the very best with your recovery. Please do keep me posted. Best wishes, Ashley.

You described the differences of pain in hip area very well. Not everyone knows the differences. Thank you
You're most welcome! I'm glad you found the video insightful. Best wishes, Ashley.
Excellent video and so well explained. So now I have confirmed that my problem can be resolved with these stretches and stop worrying that I was closing in on a hip replacement! You are very, very good Ashley .... and so young!!!
You're absolutely welcome! Happy to hear the video was helpful. Please keep me posted on your progress. Best wishes, Ashley.
As a 73 year old competitive Pickleball player, I appreciate your very thorough description of hip pain, as it has helped me to be better able to describe my symptoms to my chiropractor. Additionally, the stretches are incredibly beneficial, as I am already feeling relief from the hip flexor stretches. Your outstanding presentation was clear and concise! More importantly, for me, using the model of the hip was pivotal to understanding the hip structure as well as the involvement of tendons and muscles in the development of hip pain. Very impressive and helpful! Thank you so much.
Hi Gordon,
You're absolutely welcome! I'm so happy to hear the video was insightful for you. Keep up with the exercises and let me know how you progress in a couple of weeks. Wishing you a speedy recovery! Best wishes, Ashley.
Thank you. EXCELLENTLY clear & concise explanation, you've explained the root cause, i.e. why bursitis occurs. I'm 60 and sit most of the day at work then blast into work around the house, biggest take away: STRETCHING.
Again thank you for the very clear, detailed & through explanation.
After years of being talked over and not getting an answer, it took U to explain EXACTLY what I have been going thru since I was 11!! I am now 59!! Thank U so much!
Im 55 and dealt with this and back pain for almost 20 years. PT injections UGH! nothing in imaging explains.
Hi Marilyn,

Thank you Ashley, this is the best video that I have watched for explanation of such pain! Iâm now feeling lucky that I seen this video & will use the methods recommended to test & stretch. Appreciate your effort for making such a wonderful videoâ€ïž
Im very glad I found your video! First, you gave an excellent tutorial of the anatomy of 3 areas of related to specific hip pain. For me, this is VERY helpful. Second, you show how to self identify or eliminate the (potential) cause of hip pain in culprit area. Also you gave very clear info to help identify - Yes, this is exactly my problem. Lastly, and so important, you gave exercises to help strenghten and sometimes stretch problem areas... but you gave cautions along the way. I can go all in and that is not the correct approach to heal the pain I've been in for many months. Honestly this video and one other has been so helpful in improving my pain. I hope you're teaching because you're quite good. Thank you!
Great information. Thanks
Brilliant description....thank you so much!đđđđ»đđ»
You're most welcome @The Dreamer! I'm glad you found the video insightful. Best wishes, Ashley.
Thank you, that was excellent. Now that I've eliminated bursal and arthritic pain, time to check out your posterior hip pain video! BTW, my external rotation on the troublesome right 'hip' is brutally limited, so it seems clear that a lengthy regime of glute stretching is in order.
Thank you...the visual representation of the varying types of pain centers is most helpful
Awesome explanation.... THANK YOU

Thank you so much Juan! I'm really glad you found the video insightful. Anything in particular you'd like me to discuss in my future videos? Best wishes, Ashley.
Thank you. I've suffered from hip pain since I was in my 20's, I'm 41 now. I had had issues with arthritis for as long as I can remember and it started in my back, then went to my left hip after my 2cd child was born it was constantly in pain and numb. Well fast forward 10 years and I lived with the pain, til last few years I had less flare ups, but then last night I slept on that hip and woke up in middle of night with the remembrance of exactly what that pain is and now I'm in so much pain I'm trying stretches to get it away or to subside enough it won't disable me from work. It's awful. And I appreciate your time in this subject. It's worse than back pain I'd say.
Wow you are a great teacher! So patient and detailed. Thank you
You're most welcome Ranee! I'm so glad to hear you found the video insightful. Best wishes, Ashley.
I have watched all the your clear and precise videos relating to hip pain and working through your tests I have pinpointed where my pain is coming from at last! it is a combination of side and back related to the muscles, which will now allow me to start working on improving them, stretching and strengthening. Thank you.

Heyy, I just came across your channel and I love how you explain everything in such an easily understandable way. Could you explain about herniated disc and treatment and exercise? Thank you so much!
Thank you! Yes of course! This will be one of my upcoming videos very soon so make sure you keep an eye out for it! Best wishes, Ashley
Brilliant, thank you. I've had pain in my right hip for over a year now. It's fine when I'm running but long, slow walks give me issues. Have been to a sports massages and they said it was piriformis but judging by your explanation it could be one of the others.
I used the stretch you recommend when sat on the bench (heel on top of opposite knee and push down) but as I'm quite flexible did it laid on my back and brought my good knee up to my chest.
I think this is essentially what's called a figure 4 stretch? God I've never felt a strain like it, felt the pull right through my buttock and knew instantly that's where the pain was originating from.
Great explanation! Thanks so much!
You're welcome Stefanie! I hope it helped. Best wishes, Ashley.
Thanks for the information

You wouldn't need your Doctor for this it would be a Physio & they would send you this link anyway, i just mentioned mine to my Doctors receptionists & was sent right away to a Physio he was amazing at explaining it & this long was even better.
Idk how long... Since i was a teen \ early 20s... I thought "my ovaries hurt" because where it feels like an ache... A throb. ... Not til about 3 years ago after having my 4th child i saw a dr & some pt i realized its "hip" pain because they told me & said my right hip is tighter than left ...

Great visuals. I've got pretty long term gluteal tendinopathy though.. Years!!, hip replacement 7 months ago. Pain at hip and even at iliac bone where glutes attach at the top is terrible if I try to stretch. Just don't know what to do anymore. Steroid injections only help for a few weeks. So frustrating.

excellent he explains it in layman understanding
Thank you. I've had bilateral hip pain located on the lateral side just as you explained. I've been diagnosed with bursitis. This started when I was 27 years old, I'm 66 now. Periodically I've received steroid injections. Over the past 2 years I've been getting them every 3 months. Interesting to note, at 27 I was 5'9 3/4" @ 128 pounds, a nurse. At this point in my life I've just retired with 38 years under my belt. I was an ER nurse for 31 years. I'm not lazy. I'm flexible, even now. I can bend my legs over my knee without exertion, BUT it does elicit pain to the lateral, bilateral hips when forcing further flexion. Now I'm overweight, have had a c- spine fusion and last year an l- spine fusion. I also have rheumatoid arthritis diagnosed at 27 and AIH diagnosed at 12. So I've been on a low maintenance dose of steroids for years as well as imuran since 1984. So pain is no stranger to me and have had numerous steroids injections over the years. Anyway, my point. I've been to physical therapy many times. I used to teach exercise classes as well. But, I'm going to try these exercises you have pointed out. Recently I've started a waking regimen as well. I have a lake I walk to. 5 minutes there and back and will gradually increase it as it becomes more bearable. Thank you for this clip!

You're most welcome @K Crawford! So glad to hear the video was helpful. Please let me know how it goes with the exercises. Best wishes, Ashley.
This was very informative, thank you!
I did something to my right hip a couple weeks ago (pain is in the front), & I've been trying to figure out what exactly I need to work on to 1. help it get better but more importantly 2. make sure it doesn't happen again whether its strength or flexibility. I believe I passed all these tests, though I'll feel pain in the inner hip doing the seated glute stretch if I push the knee below parallel. It also hurts a bit doing simple knee raises (standing, bring knee to chest), and then more so if I turn the knee out.
It's definitely getting better. It probably was a strain that just needs time to rest up (I've still been exercising maybe a bit too much on it), but I'm still not entirely sure what to do once it gets better. Considering I can almost do the front splits, it's probably not a flexibility issue so I guess that leaves strength.
Anyways thank you, this definitely gave me some things to think on, and I think even just doing the tests did also help relieve some of the pain maybe?
Very informative. â€ïž
Wonderful program ! Tku so much.
Hi Lynn. You are most welcome! Best wishes, Ashley.
Thank you for the clear explanation. I have been suffering from pain in my right hip for several months with little to no relief. Your video has provided me with valuable insights in understanding a bit more about what may be occurring.

I have been having this hip joint pain last 3 years, till date none has able to explain me to this details, I lost my mobility last 2 years, just wishing someone help me out to treat this correctly ..
Excellent. My hip pain is on the side and pain travels down the leg to the shin. Going to try that stretch for the side. Had been doing hip flexor stretches as thatâs all everyone talks about it. Fingers crossed. Thank you.
