I get where Riley is coming from with the beat but that's because it's like a song condemning his ego hidden as a flex song, plus there's like 50 different interpolations on it that are woven in so well that they're not even noticeable unless u look them up, which also kinda feels like a response to the whole "I've done this shit by myself" that Kendrick is leaning into on the song when the reality is that he is very much not doing everything by himself

It was just i that didn't get the love from the beginning but it was more appreciated in the context of tpab. Tbh he released i way too early as a single (half a year before tpab was released) and people were confused wtf he was on when he made this.

The layers? On interviews with Kendrick, its even talked about how the song is one of the least deepest songs on TPAB

The one thing that allows me to watch these videos is the thought of Dj Grant bursting blood vessels in his brain at the outrageous, toe-curling, mind-boggling takes these creatures put out. the thing i think is so powerful about duckworth. is that it doesn’t need any cleverness or wordplay. it, as a story, is so powerful in itself throughout it without any artistic emphasis. the story, and the way the universe had chosen to write it it, is the artwork. the number of rips you take should never exceed the number of hours you’ve slept.
Surprisingly I found myself and Dignan agreeing a lot during this bracket. After the relationship we had together running away from the Mexican police I thought I’d never see eye to eye with him again, but here I am holding metaphoric hands with him during this bracket!!

@@1PARFAIT7 nah, wesley’s theory solos damn. the lyricism is immaculate, talking about spending in the perspective of both a citizen and uncle sam, and how having a lot of money doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve made it. the instrumentals are insane, with thundercat bringing such an amazing funk with those awesome bass riffs, and george clinton has really cool and unique vocals that are a really cool nod to the funk aspect of the album. all around, super hype song and really good. FEAR. is a great song and is one of the best on damn, but it’s just not comparable.
