- Welcome back to Jon's RC!
Due to a lot of subscriber feedback on my UMX WACO video about comparing the UMX WACO with the UMX Pitts, I decided to take both of them out for a flight!
Check out the flight video and decide for yourself which is better suited for your flying style!

Thank you Jon. You read my mind and answered my question and enabled me to make an informed decision.
Couldn't decide between the UMX TTE and the UMX Timber X. Got both. Couldn't decide between the Pitts and Waco, got both! Plus the 850mm Pitts is extremely well mannered, flying as mild or wild as I want it to.
Good comparison video! Thank you!
Thank you!
Thanks Jon, I always waned to see a side by side of these two planes ! Great flying and comparison of two of my favorite UMX planes.
Thank you! They are both awesome planes! But, for my flying style, I prefer the WACO!
I was looking at the Waco today. I did not think the landing gear would like grass. The gear comes off the Pitts and she hand launches with no problems. Jon is right, it needs a large space.
To me, the mostly white Waco is much easier to see against a blue sky than the mostly red PItts. Red tends to lose detail to the point that it's hard to see the orientation at a distance. Not so with the Waco. The same applies to my white 70 mm T-45 and the 1.2 m T-28-they are so easy to see even at a distance. If I had to choose between the Waco and the Pitts, I would choose the Waco (and I know about the Pitts' visibility-I used to have one of those but I sold it).
John with the mustache!
Growing like your channel!!
Love the waco love it
nice little planes
Good review, thanks.
Really useful video mate, thank you 👍
Really nice comparison video Jon.
You've convinced me... If I were to add a 2nd UMX plane to my hanger (and I likely will) it'll be the WACO.
Thanks! For my flying style, the WACO is the clear winner for me!
Yes, I understand it's a personal choice after all is said and done. I suspect that even after getting the WACO my UMX Timber EVO will remain my favorite.
Had you moved control horns at all?
I moved my control horns on pitts I got the Waco today, will likely move the control horns on it aswell
man i love your vid keep up the great wworrk wish we could fly formation together
Thank you!
When doing the hovers try changing you center of gravity back a little bit with your battery or add a very tiny bit of weight in the tail
I don `t like the noise from the umx pitts ( I have the umx timber X and 2 cell umx turbo timber) also a terible ( loud ) noise , waco is in backorder in europe. the umx waco sound is less and better in your video, and again superb camera work !
Thanks! Good point on the motor sounds! I forgot to mention that!
That bit about the motor sound matters. I love the Pitts. It was the first U-Control model I ever made. Way to much airplane for a beginner. Great paint scheme, too.
I can’t turn off my ears. That sound is awful. On that alone I’ll buy the WACO.
Keep up the good work.
I have the pitts and waco as well. I personally think the waco is quite a bit better. It does everything the pits does and more. Its just not as quick.
🤠👍
Thanks for the video. I have a couple of questions for you:
- are the Waco landing gear removable?
- does the Waco use those horrible u-bends for mechanically trimming the control surfaces?
- can the Waco snap or spin?
Thanks!
Hi! Unfortunately, the Waco’s landing gear are not removable, and yes, they do use the U-bends, but they work well enough across all UMX platforms. Putting it into a snap is easy enough and the airframe is more than happy to do it, but spinning it is rather a challenge.
Do you use any mixes ?
It's WACO stands for Weaver Aircraft Com. of Ohio!!!! way co
Love that Waco. Did you fly the 2S battery in another vid? I need real floaty (slow). Does UMX have a customer service? I need servo stats to input in my Txr. These birds are a good answer to the 280g. rule!
250g rule.
Can you fly both of these with a 2 Cell?
Hi! Yes! Both of these are 2S capable.
No wonder why I got a pitts and crashed it
a
It's pronounced wayco
Nope. WACO like TACO.
I have the waco and pitts and air tractor and turbo timber evo UMX's all great fun good video and review ☺🛩🛩🪂🛩👍👍
Thanks! I love them all!
