Really appreciate the insight, and honesty when reviewing this Micro Draco. It flew exactly like that for me. I don't think there's another video out there that mentions dropping a wing! It's happened to me a few times, Ironically, trying to fly it like the Turbo Timber, and it's not! Crashed a couple , and was able to pull out of two of the incidents. I attribute it to pilot error, for not being aware of Draco flight envelope vs TTE, but just amazing no one else wanted to say anything negative, even though you like the A/C. Also thought it ironic, that you can't fly the best STOL airplane, like a STOL airplane. That's why I usually grab the TT Evo. No worries, just fly it. Great Video!!
Looks fantastic!! Thank you for the awesome review as always Jon!!
Great demo!
Sweet I ordered one
Nice!
Looks good anyway
Great review Jon your field looks like southern Calif if so where? Almost looks San Diego although know it can’t be there
Thank you! This is the San Gabriel Valley Radio Control League!
Jon, I noticed that you are using a Fatuba Transmitter, so what receiver are you using with the BNF?
Sorry, it's not a Fatuba!
Outstanding review Jon. You touched on some points that I have not seen covered/mentioned in any of the other YT reviews I've recently watched.
So, putting aside the looks is it a STOL plane worth $200.00 or would you put that money towards maybe the UMX Turbo EVO (and some extra batteries) over this Micro model?
Thank you! If you are looking for a STOL plane of this size, I honestly do not see the Draco fit for the job. The UMX TTE is undoubtedly a better performer, but honestly it is hard to compare the two. The Draco although marketed as a STOL aircraft is too heavy for that and doesn’t take to slow flight very well, and doesn’t slow down fast enough. The Timber is pretty light weight, and does all the maneuvers the Draco can do and more. You can also fly the Timber in some spots that the Draco struggles in. For example, I often fly my Timber in my culdesac. I have been experimenting with flying the Draco in the same spot, but because it is larger and heavier it keeps you on the sticks all the time. After a couple flights of culdesac flying the Draco, I have also found that it you really can’t do aerobatics with it in enclosed areas. I still really like the Draco though. If you are interested in a model that takes pure performance and can also fly in tight spots, the UMX TTE is the way to go. If you have a larger area and don’t really care for all the aerobatic stuff, the Draco is a really nice airplane for that!
Micro Draco weighs over 50% more than UMX turbo timber evo. Plus, all that detail of antennas, steps, panel lines, rivets, etc. adds drag, so I'm sure TTE will outperform it. The question is which do you like flying better Draco or TTE?
I only have a couple of flights on my Draco, so everything I say can’t be set in stone. However, the UMX TTE is much more of a performer than this plane. It is much lighter and more maneuverable. I really do enjoy flying the Draco though, just because of how pretty it is.
They didn't make it 4s for no reason. What other plane do you know of that size that needs that much power. Although I'm thinking about ordering the draco power train to put in one of my beater tte to see what it does. Not that it needs it.. tte is gotta be the best micro ever. I didn't care much for the pilatus look tho. I do like the look of the timber x but don't care for its performance. So I ordered an entire og timber air frame and put the tte electronics/ hardware in it with the updated tte horizontal stab. Just trying to decide what graphics to put on it
Why don't you just go 4S in the TTE? The performance is insane, and the motor and esc seem to hold up to it, even with the stock three blade prop.
@davescott9409 I saw some videos of someone flying it 4s but wasn't sure if it was stock. Guess I'll have to try it
I race Q40 planes there. nice small field.
Awesome! I’m normally one of the judges for when our field holds the competitions!
Can i use a Spektrum 4S 450mah Battery? Will it handle it?
Hi! I have a couple 4S 450s, but the size difference seems too great for it to handle correctly in the air.. It will make it heavier than it already is, and I’m sure they will barely fit too. Happy flying!
Thank you very much for your answer. I wish you a nice day! Greetings from Austria
Hey Jon, can I get your opinion about this plane compared to the umx timber evo? I have the umx timber turbo 2s version and looking for another UMX plane. Which one you prefer?
(And thx for your review of the multiplex funcub, I managed to buy one second hand, still have to maiden it by the way 😊)
Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
Hi! In my opinion, the Draco and the UMX Turbo Timber EVO are two completely different planes. The UMX TTE can be way more aggressive if you want it to, or it can also be docile and forgiving. I think the Turbo Timber EVO is a good upgrade from the original Turbo Timber. The DRACO takes a bit more experience to fly, due to its tendencies to stall more often than not, as opposed to a TTE. The DRACO is less aerobatically capable and needs a wider flying area to stretch its legs. Ultimately, I enjoy both the same, but for different reasons. If you are limited on space and want to upgrade from your original Timber, I would definitely go for the UMX TTE. If you are a seasoned pilot and don’t really mind the less sporty airframe with a larger flying area, the DRACO is a good contender. It also gets bonus points for looks!
@@JonsRC Thx Jon for your answer, I highly appreciate it! Alway a joy watching you fly besides all the gunshots in the background. I take your advice in consideration, so difficult to choose some times.
Pay the Price for the Big one. 6 foot wingspan. Reversing ESC.
Own one.
Too big for some people in terms of space, this is perfect.
@@gpaje No problem. Yes it is Very Big. Lucky I have a very large 1200 Sq ft 2 bedroom House ,garage and an Full Size Airport Hanger where I keep my 40 Foot Wingspan, Flying Boat. Hobsession. Now have 628 R/C Aircraft. Was married once, but have " Aviation Induced Divorce Syndrome. LOL. Been the best 45 years , without her.
@@robertkbrooks951 I was married once as well robert. maybe its time for my breakfast or two. Happy birthday.
