Tier List: Fangorn, Radagast's alliance, Wanderers in the Wild and Wildmen of Drúadan

- After forgetting that we actually do tier lists, Sean and Liam invited Aaron on to talk about a few of the more obscure list in the range. This includes Fangorn, wanders in the wild, Radagast's alliance and wild men of duradan, aswell as lumping the Beornings in to wanders in the wild.

So glad to see some woses action on CZcams! I’ve been playing them in most of my games this year and having decent success with them. Overall I find them a really enjoyable army to play and have taught me a lot on how to maximise positioning and bogging down high point characters. Few things beat the moment you shoot out a troll or named heroes in a turn when they are left 11” away from 30+ shots.
List building is also a dream with them as you just do ghan and as many 9 man warbands as you can fit. Dropping 1 or 2 models to equip axes to get sneaky str 4. Which against heroes and more elite troops has essentially no downside as they are already wounding you statistically.
At first I was worried about slow playing people with the sheer number of models but laying out dice for your shooting groups during the opponents move and shoot phase is a massive time save. Also an underrated strength for the lists you mentioned in this video are that a lot of people aren’t sure of what exactly to do into them. So playing fast during the early turns makes them feel under pressure and therefore more likely to make mistakes which is really what allows theses armies to function against the the ‘top tier’ armies.
Strengths
- models to flood the board and envelop lower model count armies
- Blowpipes and spears on everyone allows for versatility in formations
- Playability around all terrain with woodland creature, mountain dweller and stalk unseen
The main issues with playing the army competitively I’ve found are:
- A static fight value is an issue that has no way around except for shooting and only leaving a few models within charge range for their priority so that you can either counter charge with traps or completely disengage
- not having a banner means that in some scenarios getting ahead in vps can be extremely difficult as you don’t really have any long distance sniping tools unless your opponent underestimates the power of blowpipes and doesn’t stack bases around the banner or in the ways of the leader
- ghan as a your only hero limits his engagement with the game massively. Most games he is there for 2 marches or a heroic shoot/ accuracy to push an advantage. Then saving the last point for a bad courage test late game if you break. A lot of the time he ends up prone surrounded by terrain so avoid any interaction with enemy spell casters or stray shots to save the vps
My wishes for the list are:
- heroes like those in shire such as the traps
- Some type of banner effect. Maybe the option to place 3 statues on the board that the opponent can destroy and provides an effect to woses within the area
You make some absolutely amazing points mate, I'm really happy to hear that there is a brave soul running mass woses.

Wish druadan would have a named (son of Ghan) and an unnamed captain hero and the troops were split between hunters and warriors.
A few more options would make it a great army
Agreed mate, every army should have at least 2-3 heroes and at least 2-3 troop choices in my opinion

Really great tactic with the eagles is sending in you chumps when you get the bottom of the turn so your opponent can’t counter charge.
Hold raddy on eagle and gwahir back for when you loose priority.
Then charge them in on a single warrior where you’re probably going to win the fight and that’s also lined up for a hurl.
Call combat to get those fights off first.
Yeet that warrior into another eagle combat, knock over everyone in that fight that’s below S6.
Then by that point they’re just fighting to stand back up. If you loose the fight it won’t matter.
If you’re winning priorities with the eagles then you’re laughing, but you can rinse and repeat as much as you like to cause chaos and knock things over before they even get a chance to fight.
Can't wait to see this in action in a few weeks 😂

That was also the last time i played him. Always liked this Model more than Saruman or Gandalf!

Radagast (from white council, no upgrades)
Gwahir (Misty mountains) 1 eagle.
Bang on 600pts
Still a work in progress list, definitely wanna tweak some things.

I'm going to over-comment, because this is one of the cooler tier videos you've done content wise. I say don't bother with bows on Beornings. Bows are just a distraction in an army that should be just hyper focused on the in close, dirty brawl. You guys are hitting on a bunch of stiff I've been thinking about doing. I have Murin and Drar and they're awesome models. I'd love to do something with them.
Yeah my thoughts exactly with the Beornings and their bows mate, they need to be in the Nitty gritty getting oiled up and wrestling some scrubs.
Murin and Drar are amazing cause they can just slot in to so many different armies and for only 140 points what their offer is amazing, I'd love to see them with the Beornings but then you'd lose the auto change and the monstrous charge, could still be well worth it though.

@@NoobsandMen They're really cool minis. We need a revisit to the dwarf army lists. In the books, there's dwarves roaming around all over the place, but the options for an unamed dwarf hold are limited. I'd settle for unamed dwarf kings to get the option for master crafted dwarf axes and a ranger captain.
I was thinking to add Radagast on his sledge with some Dale warrior (with Girion) to experiment at 800 pts. Do you think that could work?
I wouldn't do it mate.
Losing Dales army bonus is just much too big of a loss to justify any additions that aren't green allies.

Khazad dum is Red with Raddy from 'radagahst alliance'. But I believe he is yellow with them from 'the white council'

Yeah i play fangorn. If i see isengard i know i'm dead. Berserkers plus pikes are just a bit too much. Plus some scenarios are straight up unwinable. Still the most fun army to play with🤗
I versed Fangorn with my bears recently at a tournament and after our official game where the bears cut sick, we played a game giving the Ents a banner, monstrous charge and boy howdy they slapped them bears around.

@@NoobsandMen yeah, it would be such an easy fix to give them a bannereffect (maybe an entwife🤭). I usually do well until i don't have might left with my 3 heroes to win combats. At this exact moment i've either killed enough enemy troops or i'll go down hard. It would be awesome if we could get another (cheaper) troop option, Huorns for example. 🤫

Maybe, though at 400 there's not much people will have to deal with ents, just gotta be cagey with your might, really only use it to win fights, and be very careful of getting trapped
