2 Minute Drill - Towel Drill, Defensive Linemen Drill

- Coaches don't need expensive chutes to teach their defensive linemen how to stay low, dip and rip through would-be blockers.
The Towel Drill is a simple way to get those points across and needs only two players and a ordinary hand towel.
Start with the two players down in a good stance and the defensive player shaded a bit to the outside. On the coach's go, the defensive player stays low and shoots out, picking up a towel that rests just off the offensive player's outside heel.
By staying low and using same foot, same shoulder technique, the defender learns how to successfully rip and lean to the target.
Check it out.

good drill
This is really helpful
The DL should get his hands on the OL first to prevent him from getting into the DL body.
The problem is if the OL down blocks and the DL runs up field he sets himself up for being trapped!
Where’s the contact?
y would you step with you right foot of your going to the left.
the other guy never hit him.... that wouldnt work if the other guy hit him... why bother ripping if your threw the hole un-touched...... waste of time
that d linemen had a HORRIBLE stance
You play football bro?
Probably watches, not plays
Yeah pretty bad stance, defense needs their butt higher or at least even with their shoulders so they can fire forwards. That player's first motion was up, he'll get pancaked against a lineman who stays low.
