Connor Bedard - Hailed as a prodigy, a once-in-a-generation talent, and a McDavid-Crosby hybrid, has been thrust into the spotlight since his teenage years. But amidst this spotlight and towering expectations, a question lingers in the air - is Conor Bedard the NHL’s overrated future star, or is he truly the next big thing in hockey?
Conor Bedard's journey began in North Vancouver, Canada. From a young age, he was determined to be a hockey star. Picture a kid, barely tall enough to see over the boards, outskating players twice his size. That was Conor! - Sport
I’m a hawks fan but dudes 100% as advertised. Easily our most talented player and will but one of the faces of the nhl within a few years. He’s a different level of talent.
Super exciting to watch him play, hopefully, he's able to keep developing and doesn't let any of the pressure get to him.
He's definitely as advertised, plus he's only 18... Bedards going to be a problem
@@F4llenGrizz Kurashev is probably the next most talented forward on the team and he’s looked a lot better playing next to bedard. Imagine Moore, Nazar, Greene, or god forbid someone like Celebrini, Lindstrom, Eiserman or anyone else playing next to him. I give him 2-3 year before his at or near 100 pts honestly.
He’s not just a sniper, but honestly more of a playmaker. Which is crazy considering his shot is elite. I just worry his defence is garbage,a nd with him being undersized I hope he isn’t prone to injury like caufield is. I worry about concussion issues
@@owenposer6720 His defense has seemed to fall apart sometimes but I'm sure with some adjustments and time, he will improve significantly. In regards to his size, that is something to be concerned about.
31 Games in with 28pts, ten points ahead of Fantilli in 2nd, He's proven himself not overrated. the #1 guy has to be the most highly raterd, he's earned it.
Cant wait to see how he looks in a few years!
He’s going to be a absolute monster when he turns into a man. The kids release is legendary and I wouldn’t even be surprised if he’s a consistent 50-50 guy for multiple years.
He’s gonna be box office/must watch tv in his second year with a season of the nhl and a full off season I think the kids gonna come back and go nuts
He will be box office for sure! Just needs a little more time to adjust to the NHL level. He's only 18!
I’m a ducks fan who thought we were getting the kid…I’ve tried to convince myself Leo is just as good. But if you watch any Hawks game there is one player that pops on the screen. Whether it’s the great skating, always being the right position, shooting or setting his teammates up, I found myself saying wow more than not. If he’s healthy he is everything advertised
Blackhawks really did win the lottery
Yeah, we get screwed out of a potential Dynasty twice. Nice
No. The nhl finally does a good job marketing their new supertalent. The hype from the media brings new fans to the nhl. And he's by far the best player on his team. He performed really good so far.
28 points in 31 games with a team that's well, not so great. Cant wait to see what happens when he develops more and gets some talent around him.
He’s put up numbers with little help. He almost always needs to create the chances by himself. It doesn’t always work, but when it does, it’s a thing of beauty.
Can only imagine how good he’d be if the Blackhawks spent money or made better trades to get him top line-caliber linemates and had a second line that is a genuine scoring threat to take off some pressure. Unfortunately, Kyle Davidson seems to exclusive want to build through the draft, which is a decade-long proposition as they traded most of their NHL-caliber youth (like DeBrincat and Hagel) to specifically tank for Bedard.
Once he develops a little more and gets some solid pieces around him, its going to be box office!
Your initial statement is absolutely correct, but I don't think your second holds up. The Blackhawks have a strong prospect pool and a ton of cap space. Kyle will absolutely make moves to build up the roster. This is how an actual rebuild happens. I miss guys like DeBrincat and Hagel too. There are a lot of talented former-hawks all over the league. A genuine rebuild like we're going to see will be considerably more beneficial than the re-tooling attempts made by prior leadership. It takes more than a few months to develop young players and bring in the right pieces for the job. Connor will have a C on his chest and a playoff game to look forward to very soon.
@@sullivankaska7494 Have to disagree about “actual rebuilds” versus “retooling.” Rebuilding teams can (and do) keep their young talent. Always (with the exception of Davidson), they trade their old talent for picks/prospects/younger players.
You can make a case that the Hagel deal was too good to pass up, considering at that point he only had 1 top six-caliber season (only later in TB this was shown not to be a fluke). However, the trade of DeBrincat was particularly puzzling, as the return was not good for someone of his productivity and young age. He had up to 9 more years of CHI contractual control via an 8-yr extension last summer. Davidson should have not put all his eggs into the draft basket, as now, we’re basically waiting for a pipeline that cannot catch up to Bedard.
Every rookie goes through growing pains, he’s definitely not overrated, I just think some fans expected him to come into this league already hitting what his numbers in his prime will be. People just need to remember that when they say he “will be a generational talent” its a couple years after the start of a players NHL career, not a couple weeks.
Exactly! He's only 18 and the expectations put on him is insane. His potential is crazy under the right system
You should make a video about Connor Bedard hitting the Michigan
Not a bad idea...
The dude hit the Michigan in just his 31st nhl game. The hype is beyond real.
I dont watch hockey much but i do watch that mans clips when they come up. Hes so young and hes proving himself w seasoned pros AND a huge spotlight on him.
SO young and filled with so much potential
Get him some better linemates. Dude will be amazing
Properly rated. Overly advertised.
It's his first year and his on a horrible team. Hall who they brought in to try and give him at least a single person to be able to possibly help him out a bit more than the others is out for the year so considering he really doesn't have anything surrounding him his done pretty damn good.
28 points in 31 games is terrific for his opening season, especially given his team. Plus he's only 18! Can't wait to see his development
2 months later… he’s been much better as a two way forward and has 51 in 52 with this AHL roster. Insanely impressive. He’s better than the hype!
Great video
Thank you! I appreciate it ❤️
I'd like to open this saying I paused the first ad to leave this comment :"is the hockey vault click baiting?"
Yes
Look, I get wanting to make a video, but why ask this question before he’s even played half a season?
He’s good, but teams seem to be playing him pretty soft. Granted, the entire NHL is becoming soft, but I’d like to see how his game holds up if starts taking some real hits.
Seems like a lot of the younger players aren't ready to take the kind of hits some people in the NHL dish out. Hopefully, he goes injury-free and can develop well. Excited to see his future!
@@TheHockeyVault agreed, I think he has a bright future regardless. I hope he stays injury free as well and we get to see his best game on display.
why don't we give this kid a full season before we start criticizing, the kid is 18 and has only played in 30 or so games. leave the kid alone.
Exactly!
Is he having a bad season or something? Last I checked he leads his team in scoring by a wide margin..
Also has little to no talent along side him. I mean Kurashev I guess.. Imagine he went to a team like Vancouver or Montreal though. They are both playoff contenders this year. Vancouver is almost a lock and Montreal is one solid forward and more injry luck away
@@Brendajanephillips514Vancouver was 1 number away from winning him in the lottery
He’s our country mate
His ceiling is just so humongous big
Bedsy is awesome, hope has a long healthy career. GoHawks
Can't wait to see him develop with some talent around him
Chicago should draft a winger this year to help him out next year hopefully
Dude let the kid play a full season first holy shit
Anybody who sees how he plays knows that this kid is NOT overhyped. Holy even i was surprised
Overrated? Kid is already a monster. Plays on a ECHL trsm pretty much. When Seth Jones is your best defnemsen, your going to have a long season. When mrazak is ur starter your not expecting to win
Mrazeks not bad this season tbh. a lot of the goals scored on him are all defense fault
@@mrskittles8540 the point is Chi sucks. This has to be one of the worst teams the nhl has ever seen.
@@mrskittles8540 mrazak is a backup. Let's not fool ourselves here.
51 points in 52 games on the worst team in the league and you ask that question? What, you can't think of something good to say?
I mean he obviously is talented but i do think people are giving him too much attention. If I were the media I would leave the kid alone for a bit and let him eep developing and figuring out how the pros work I mean he is only 18 years old
No, he is not overrated. I did my research before making my comment, check out his stats he was the highest scorer on every team he played on. He has won more awards and a gold medal for Canada. The only thing I worry about is some 240-pounder taking him out or ending his career. If they can do it to Lindros, Connor is not exempt from injury as we already have seen.
this could of bin a 4 min video...
💙 ❤ kid is a freak!! Exciting future ahead!!!
A monster, excited to see how he develops
Yes and no, he 100% is the best prospect since McDavid, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is the unquestioned best player in the league at some point in his career. But we’ve been spoiled in in the last 20 years with absolute GOAT’s like Crosby and McDavid, whom were better at 18 than Bedard is now, so there’s a solid chance he never reaches the heights of those two.
This is a solid take. Will be interesting to see where he ends up once he develops more!
Not at All! He's Just Underfed
Ok ok.. ill bite. Ima watch it. I know im going to disagree tho lol
Patrick Crosby...
Ahh shoot, well. There's another error I didn't spot in editing. This is why you dont review things late at night 🤣
@TheHockeyVault it happens I legit had too rewind it 2 times lol
Overhyped. Too small. He's a good player, but not in Mathews/McDavid tier.
I don’t believe he lives up to the hype. Certainly won’t be in the Crosby, McDavid category. I’ve said since he was drafted he will be a point per game player at best.
Ya super hard to say, I think he will be great but not sure if he will live up to all the expectations that's been put on his shoulders
28 points in 31 games so far with the 2 assists tonight and the game isnt even over. Hes already basically a point a game lol and its likely he finishes above a point a game this year as hes been rapidly improving and also has NOBODY near his skill level to play with. Hes 18, hes doing all this at 18 🤣 i respect your opinion and all but i couldnt disagree more
@@Somethingsomethingmorbid0 Will also gotta realize he's only 18 years old... Cant wait to see him when he's 24/25
Not sure if he will end up in that elite mount rushmore like Crosby and McDavid but he will deffs be more than a point per player game.
@@F4llenGrizzhe’s going to be better than them
this is bull shit click bait
Lol overrated
Yes, he’s over rated
He has 28 points in 31 games and he's only 18 years old lmao. He's going to be a star, yes he will need some time to adjust but I think its too soon to say hes overrated
Please elaborate
Your mom isn't.
Connor Bedard guy garbage he be out of league soon enough
Overrated. McDavid literally destroyed teams and was THE BEST player in the world when he first entered the NHL. Blew past a whole Blue Jackets team the first game after an injury.
Bedard isn't better than any elite players right now and he doesn't have the size or even the potential to be the best.
