Great breakdown of my favorite TOOL song. The entirety of Lateralus is incredibly profound. Not to mention that even after over 2 decades I still find new details in the mix , which is flawless. Speaking of double intendres - there's a powerful one in Pushit - "you still love me" can also be heard/interpreted as "you steal of me".
Never heard that in Pushit--now, of course, I need to go listen to it again. Haha.

Yeah…so I’m gonna need you to do one of these for every song on Lateralus :) It’s my favorite Tool record, I love every song (though, not every one has lyrics, right?) But, while I could come up with some of these insights myself, I haven’t bothered to dig that deeply and you obviously have already. I really enjoyed your approach and insights into the themes and references.

I do know Machine Head, but the others are outside of my experience.
I'm open to just about anything. I have a special fondness for progressive rock/metal, but I enjoy at least a little bit from almost every genre. Hip-hop, dark country, nu metal, classical orchestra pieces, flamenco guitar duets, solo piano pieces, video game music, 80's rock ballads, smooth jazz, big band, blues, funk, etc etc etc...
Yeah, the other party or thing moved on. The Grudge is wholly your own. Well done and considered.
