Chen has mentioned before that he is typically required to pull the high notes at the middle of a song and it is a real challenge especially when they are doing a fast number like Wolf. My utmost respect to him.

Still true in 2020.. Kingdom boy groups tried to cover it via performance but it’s not live singing. It’s not bad but the vibes are so different. Truly no one can pull it off in a superior and graceful manner like EXO.

I watched vocal coaches reactions on EXO's vids and many of them said that that these guys have great control and techniques.. but one of them said that Chen's voice is so powerful that he might injure his vocal chord if not maintained properly... since then, everytime Chen did high notes, I just hope he rest well after that... but now... he has someone taking care of him 🤭 less worried now
Chen has vocal coaches and takes lessons from some of the best in the business. He (and Baek) may have strained in the early days, but they have been training nonstop since then. By the time of this concert tour, they had much better control and power. I wouldn't worry about them, they are pros, they aren't going to kill their voices just for one note.
@@jraven4567 I'm aware of that.. not saying they're gonna lose their voice or anything in one blow... I'm talking abt if they're having tour... means for few days in a week they'll have to travel and singing + hitting the notes... maybe just my own worry.. sorry if I'm offending anyone...

the thing i love about exo is that they keep learning and getting lessons, baekhyun always talks about how he loves vocalisation and getting vocal lessons even thought exo are so well established their skills just keep getting better, also in terms of live performances you should react to the live performance of gravity by exo it’s so good

And this was a part of a set like what they have always been doing. So prior to Wolf, they've already been dancing and singing. This is one of the reasons why for me, EXO is incomparable and on another level. The production and vocal stability are just insane. That's why getting an EXO concert ticket is like winning a lotto, difficult af.

From what I've read EXO will be in hiatus for the next 3 or 4 years until the youngest (Sehun) is released from the military service.

@@breezymango4113 Yeah. 3 members are in the military now, and Lay is not promoting with them so they are down to 5 members. Xiumin is getting out in December, and D.O. in January. Next year, starting in May it will be Baekhyun, then Chen by September, and Chanyeol by November. Then it will be just 4 of them on the outside (Suho will still be serving). Suho will get out in 2022 and then no one else will be enlisting that year (since D.O. already served), Then by January 2023, Kai will enlist, followed by Sehun in April. The 92 line will be getting out around that same time. 94 line will serve their 2(ish) years and get out in late 2024 or early 2025.

I’ attended this concert in tokyo and i can say that their overflowing talents and stage presence are beyond words. It was fantastic.
Actually Wolf is really one of the hardest EXO's song. Aside from the song itself the choreography also. I remembered during promotion of days most of them are so exhausted because they have to do all this live in every music shows. Chen mentioned this in one of his interview he said that is was hard because he need to dance for the half of the song and on the last part most of the high notes are given to him and baek. So proud of this boys Wolf and Growl was their lucky songs.
Absolutely CRAZY choreography. The technicality of their performances. Variations... facial expression and frikken stamina. Especially here, with those jackets on!

I want to visit their concert at least once in my lifetime, but they almost never come to Europe😭
Now you need to see the MV for '"Wolf" to see the difference between the original song and choreography and this version. The concert version of "Wolf" is the remix version, so only the beginning and end of this performance is what you will see if you watch the MV -- the middle part, where it slows down, is new, but the hype part at the beginning and end is exactly how the original song sounds. Often, the performance and choreography for their songs in concert is different than the original because they put a different twist on it every time they perform it.
The image you saw them creating is a tree and it's supposed to represent the Tree of Life. In the MV you will see they create two separate trees because the MV is when they still have 12 members. EXO-K was one half of the tree and EXO-M was the other half. However, as you saw in the concert performance, they don't split up into the two separate trees any more because now there are only 9 members. After the 3 Chinese members left, they now do everything together, so there is only one tree. This concert was in 2016 and Kris, Luhan and Tao left in 2014/2015.
How I interpret the part where Kai Xs out the tree. Is that EXO are searching for the Tree of Life and Kai has eliminated that tree from their search. It's not the tree they want, so they get rid of it. In the intro to "Mama" they talk about how the Tree of Life has been split in two and each half has been hidden away. It's EXO's job to find the two halves of the Tree of Life and reunite them to restore peace in the world. So in their live performance, I think that is what they are doing. They are searching for the real Tree of Life.
And, that was only one song from a 3 to 5 song set. So, if you think that performance was amazing, keep in mind, they also performed 2 or 3 more songs right before "Wolf," without taking a break, and then after this they only take about a 5 minute break to get ready for the next set of songs and change outfits, etc. In Kpop concerts they normally perform anywhere from 20 to 30 songs and the concerts are pretty much nonstop like this for 3 to 4 hours straight.
So if you are impressed by this performance, just imagine what a whole concert is like. :D

I noticed something, many kpop groups cover only few of EXO'S songs such as Love me right, Loveshot
They don't do cover wolf, monster , eldorado etc because others can't pull EXO's vocal.
Even when idols cover Miracle in December, they have to gather 3 to 4 groups Main Vocals.
