El dorado is a legend kinda, a lost city made of gold, it suppose to be in a part of colombia now but of course nobody founded it

No matter how often I listen to it whenever I hear baekhyun's high notes in el dorado I stop breathing, like I literally hold my breath and can't stop myself from doing so. Its just so overwhelming

I'm not an exo fan, and when I heard El dorado back in the days, I just kept watching their el dorado performance. This song is so iconic, and the fact that it wasn't a title song and yet almost everyone who is non-exol knows it makes it even more iconic.

Oh boy, d.o is a very expressive singer. If i could suggest, please listen to his song “tell me what is love” its 👌. And also “ my answer” tho this is him singing with chen n baek but its 👌👌👌
I never get tired of watching this, Baekhyun slays me every time, he has an amazing voice, whether is he letting rip with his high notes or deep with the undertones, he did say in an interview he has vocal training, but has also had surgery on his vocal chords, more than likely due strain. He is a lot more controlled now, thank goodness, I couldn't imagine a world without his beautiful voice.
"El dorado" is a fictional place named in a legend. Is supposed to be a place full of gold, and many people throughout history tried to find it.
EXO uses it as a reference to a goal or a dream, find "El dorado" as finding that one thing you always wanted to achieve even if thta means overcoming hardships. They're talking about finding it together bc they share the same dream, being successful singers.

Quick history bit: El Dorado means literally "the golden one" meaning a king or leader who was dress in gold clothes. We are talking XVI century so if a person was so rich his city did must be made of gold...Since then El Dorado mostly means this mytical place. We (spaniards of today) use the term a lot of times to talk about a dream, not necessarily a place, that we pursued even if the same is unattainable. Exactly like the treassure of El Dorado

I don't know if it's just me, but I have something to say. When you watch other bands you praise their dancing, you praise their vocals a little bit. You say the places you like in the clip, but when you watch Exo, I just feel like you're in love. it's like we're watching a fanboy's reaction, not analysis. I like this a lot. El Dorado (Which means The gold or the golden one in Spanish) is a mythical city made of gold. The Spanish conquers started the rumor of the city, after learning of the Indian king El Dorado who, according to the legend, was covered in gold. So what you saw as part of the background in this performance was in the beginning the golden gates of the city were there and as the performance went on the gates opened to reveal the mountain and SM's depiction of what they think the city might look like. That is why EXO was all in gold outfits and I think the lights they danced around were to represent objects they had to navigate through in their search for the city. Finding the city is thought to possibly help to reveal something they need or clues to help them locate the Tree of Life, etc.. At the end when they make the X with the light sticks it's to represent the X in EXO, but it's also to represent the X you would find on a treasure map that marks where the treasure would be. In the end X marks the spot and EXO is the treasure. LOL
In real life, explorers and Indiana Jones-type treasure hunters are always searching for the lost city of El Dorado thinking if they ever find it, it will be the key to riches and gold.
Legends have it that it's a magical city that can only be found by those who it wants to find it and some stories say it could have something to do with aliens or otherworldly beings. That's why this song works so well for EXO because EXO's origin story is that they are aliens from Planet EXO who came to Earth with superpowers in order to protect the mythical Tree of Life. That's why in this song some of the English lines are "Sail, sail, sail ... got to go, go, go" ... "got to find, find, find ... El Dorado," etc.
There have been several fictional movies made about the search for El Dorado and there even have been TV programs and documentaries, etc. about real life explorers who have searched for the city thinking they can prove it was a real place and, at least in part, the stories could be true.
I think in reality El Dorado was a Mayan city that was located on or near a gold mine field and so the city and Inca people who lived there were rich with golden objects made from the tribe's gold. So treasure hunters and explores are looking to find the city's location in the hopes of finding the hidden treasure left behind by its ancient inhabitants, etc.
EXO's "EL Dorado" performance is also what has been said, inspired Disney to ask SM and EXO to produce the song and MV for "Lightsaber." Disney has also done adaptations of the El Dorado story over the years with its movies and TV shows, etc.
This was only one song out of a 4 or 5 song set so that is why it might seem short because there are several more songs before or after this, which fill out the whole set and makes it more complete. I am also pretty sure that his is not their performance from their Japanese concert. This video is from their Seoul concert. In the Japan concert version Kai's hair is much better and the video quality is better as well. However, I think the Japanese concert version got taken down, because all I have been able to find for a while now is the Seoul concert version.

About your comment on Baekhyun's voice sounding the same from 2016 up to now with all those belting is because I remember EXO saying that up to this day, Baekhyun still attends private vocal lessons and takes it very seriously because he wants to sing for a long time and singing is what makes him the happiest.
I think even Chanyeol and/or Sehun goes with him and takes lessons from the same trainer.
