This song is a compilation of lines from ancient Russian folk songs. They are well over 2000 years old. The song is about an orphan girl who is being married off, obviously to an unloved person. She comes to the banks of the river (the river was considered the border between the world of the living and the world of the dead) to ask for a wedding blessing from her deceased mother. The scary voice is the response of the mother's spirit. The dancers in the background represent the spirits of the forest and the river. Not having received the blessing of her mother, the girl crosses the border between the world of the living and the world of the dead when she gets into a boat and floats away.

Diana was born in May 2003. 31 in Arsenyev in the Far East of Russia. She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived ... and she did not love Diana, mistreated her and tried to drown her. Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone on the street and shortly thereafter took the 3-year-old girl to a children's home. Finally, there she found love... from Irina Ponik, who worked as a massage therapist and treated children from the orphanage. Irina Ponik and her daughter Nastya fell in love with Diana. Taking a child into the family was of course not easy for Irina ... Of course, it was not easy for Irina to take a child into the family. Her son was already 20 years old, the daughter 17 years old ... Start all over now? Her husband supported her and Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old. And all started ...
The Arseniev period lasted from the end of 2008 to September 2012. During this time Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions.
Diana's mother became her daughter's manager, she found the addresses of music competitions, negotiated with the organizers and selected a repertoire. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances and competitions is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She is looking for sponsors because flights are expensive and took extra sewing courses. Since then, she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary.
After winning a competition in Moscow, Diana's mother was offered to leave the girl in a boarding school for gifted children. She refused and in 2012 moved with her small family to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana now also has a grandma and has also lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would kidnap her. Today Diana has a large family: mom, grandma, sister Nastya and brother Dima, two nephews, Arthur and Ildar and many friends, who support them.
2013-2015 Diana played in the theater studio of Dmitry Marfin at the Togliatti Philharmonic Society, whom Diana valued as 'a real workaholic and fan of her craft'. After her debut on June 3, 2014 (Diana played Becky Thatcher in the jazz musical 'Tom Sawyer and His Friends'), she met Svetlana Vovk, the director and pop singing teacher at the Togliatti College of Music and Rodion Shchedrin, member of the jury international and national music competitions and Diana's journey continued ...
Diana's voice, her perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm were extraordinary even as a little girl and so she impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win.
So, in 2017 on February she went to Moscow, at the Russian 'The Voice Kids'. Diana sang 'Yodel-Time' czcams.com/video/vKdvaWsd91Q/video.html but none of the judges turned around but the whole audience gave 'standing ovation'. What happened? Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition. A door had closed but a new door opened:
In 2018 and 2019, Moscow hosted the 3rd season of a unique international Competition instead of “You are Super”, which was launched in 2016 specifically for adopted and orphaned children. Diana took part and won. These performances were broadcast nationwide, uploaded to CZcams and made Diana known worldwide. She now has many millions of fans around the world. The final of the international singing competition for children 'You are Super' took place in the Kremlin Palace. The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote. Diana won a scholarship to the music college. Igor Krutoy gifted her a small apartment in Moscow so that she could begin her vocal training with the best teachers in Moscow such as Professor Olga Donskoy (she died of Covid-19 in October 2020).
The break of voice made Diana’s voice darker and deeper. During her vocal break, her voice sometimes went a little crazy. You can hear it in some videos from that time. She has mastered this time very professionally and worked hard to get the lost high notes back and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 - D6 ... and it will go on. Her genres are folk-rock, folk-pop, jazz, soul, blues, soldier songs and Diana-stile… tradition meets modernity. She likes to paint and draw so much that we can be glad that she decided to sing… But did you notice that she only ever holds a microphone in her right hand? Her left-hand underlines and paint, what she is singing. Diana puts her whole soul into each song. That all makes her performances special and unique.
But not only is she a great singer and storyteller, she is also a humble, intelligent and hardworking young woman. She gives charity concerts… and she loves her family and values what they sacrifice for them. Her Russian Friends have chosen Diana as "National Treasure" (no official title).
In her home studio, she is currently experimenting (Corona time) a lot with different music genres and performing on both large and small stages. She loves the French language, but also sings in English and Spanish.
2020 Diana graduated from high school with honors and in September she has become a student at the Russian Institute of Theater Arts (similar to Juilliard). She studies in the specialty "Variety Artist". She is already composing songs and we will definitely hear her own song soon.
She will only take part in major competitions if invited. Such competitions require a lot of time, effort and strength. Two things - if like cannot be unique. Secondly, I would dispute the comparison with Cher: I was nought but a young lad at the time of I got you Babe - Cher has a deep voice but none of the resonance, timbre, emotion or, at this age, ability. That Cher had to resort to autotune tells you a lot. Not alike, superior.

@@rickr2029 Nope - the autotune for Cher actually screwed up a fair to middling song or so I believe- I much prefer her earlier stuff, Bang, Bang, Little Man, Gypsie, Tramps etc. My favourite - cover of the great Dylan song "All I really want to do". Didn't have to look her up as she and Sonny Bono informed this callow youth (at the time) of a wider world. I contend that her voice could not come near to that of Diana - husky or not it never had the qualities or technique that this young lady possesses.
