👉 Rechenka/ River - This is an old Russian ritual song: An orphan girl should / wants to get married and goes to the river, the border between the living and the dead, and asks her mother for the blessing (mother's whisper)... The horses are in the courtyard. The guests are gathered and the wedding celebration begins. In Russia, it was customary to sing sad songs at weddings to scare off evil. This should drive away evil spirits and bring good luck. Such songs were called 'crying'.
Diana's rendition of this song is spectacular, mysterious... greatl, every time. Here, in 2018 she sang this song in the singing competition 'You are super' (she was 14 years old). She won and received international attention. Since then, millions of people have followed her on CZcams and her worldwide fan base is growing rapidly.

Excellent, really enjoyed your reaction. It was funny when you were talking about Diana's switch/flick from chest to head voice, you did the same hand gesture as Beth Roars did when she was talking about the same thing on this video.
The song is called River (or sweet river as in term of endearment) , it's basically a bridal wailing, in the song the young bride is an orphan and so she goes to the river to tell it about the guests and the feast and her own sorrows and to ask for its blessing because there's no one else to ask basically. Beautiful song!

Good afternoon from (East) Scotland! Diana did some yodel singing when she was younger and she uses this technique to great effect in her other performances now. She is a very expressive singer too, always tells a story with body language. I have watched hundreds of performances from Diana in a variety of settings and she never fails to stun me with her abilities! Diana here is 14yo and singing in an amazing Russian competition "You are Super" for abandoned/disadvantaged children because Diana spent some years in an orphanage. My interpretation of this particular performance is - "A young orphan girl is being given away in marriage to the unloved. She goes to the river (Rechenka) - (the barrier between life and death) to ask her dead mothers’ blessings for a marriage that will not be a happy one.
The spooky wisper/voice is her dead mum answering back! The mood of the song changes and we hear the children in the yard playing and laughing, asking why the girl is so sad. Then she cries uncontrollably as she is lifted into the boat to be taken to her wedding with resignation for a sad life."

child with a broken collarbone in the street and took the 3-year-old girl to a children's home shortly thereafter. Finally, there she found love... from
Irina Ponik, who worked as a massage therapist and treated children from the orphanage. Irina Ponik and her daughter Nastya fell in love with
Diana. Taking a child into the family was of course not easy for Irina ... Of course, taking a child into the family was not easy for Irina but she became
her 'mother' when Diana was 5 years. Diana now lives in a poor but loving family. Diana spoke badly but sang all the songs from cartoons. An
acquaintance of her mother, a musician, noticed that Diana had a perfect pitch and advised her to take singing lessons. So Diana took lessons from
the singing teacher Elena Anatolyevna Kazantseva, who discovered Diana's talent. And so it all started ... The Arseniev period lasted from the end of
2008 to September 2012. During this time Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions. Diana's mother became her daughter's manager,
she found the addresses of music competitions, negotiated with the organizers and selected a repertoire. Everything that has to do with Diana's
singing training, performances and competitions is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She is looking for sponsors because flights
are expensive and took extra sewing courses. Since then she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the
family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary. After winning a
competition in Moscow, Diana's mother was offered to leave the girl in a boarding school for gifted children. She refused and in 2012 moved with
her small family to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana now also has a grandma and has also lost her fear that the woman
who gave birth to her would kidnap her. 2013-2015 Diana played in the theater studio of Dmitry Marfin, director of children's programs at the
Togliatti Philharmonic Society, whom Diana valued as 'a real workaholic and fan of her craft'. After her debut on June 3, 2014 (Diana played Becky
Thatcher in the jazz musical 'Tom Sawyer and His Friends'), she met Svetlana Ivanovna Vovk, the director and pop singing teacher at the Togliatti
College of Music and Rodion Shchedrin, member of the jury international and national music competitions and Diana's journey continued ... Diana's
voice, her perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm were extraordinary even as a little girl and so she impressed with her talent in over 50 national and
international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant
competitions so that other children could have a chance to win. So, in 2017 on February she went to Moscow, at the Russian 'The Voice Kids'. Diana

ovation'. What happened? Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition. A
door had closed but a new door opened: In 2018 and 2019, Moscow hosted the 3rd season of a unique international Competition instead of “You
are Super”, which was launched in 2016 specifically for adopted and orphaned children. Diana took part and won. These performances were
broadcast nationwide, uploaded to CZcams and made Diana known worldwide. She now has many millions of fans around the world. The final of
the international singing competition for children 'You are Super' took place in the Kremlin Palace. The winner of the season will be determined by a
6-day public vote. Diana won a scholarship to the music college. Igor Krutoy gifted her a small apartment in Moscow so that she could begin her
vocal training with the best teachers in Moscow such as Professor Olga Donskoy (she died of Covid-19 in October 2020). The break of voice made
Diana’s voice darker and deeper. During her vocal break, her voice sometimes went a little crazy. You can hear it in some videos from that time. She
has mastered this time very professionally and worked hard to get the lost high notes back and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 -
D6 ... and it will go on. Her genres are folk-rock, folk-pop, jazz, soul, blues, soldier songs and Diana-stile… tradition meets modernity. She likes to
paint and draw so much that we can be glad that she decided to sing… But did you notice that she only ever holds a microphone in her right hand?

She is 14 here so very, very early in her development, but she is a contralto, and her natural range is wider than you seem to think. This is a Russian folk song which accounts for its tempo and tone. She isn't singing a song; she is performing as "The Orphan Bride" who is lamenting the fact that she has no parents to bless her wedding. Rechenka, "The River", is the border between the living and the dead. She is in a boat at the end, did she cross over? I checked your channel; you need to react to her at 18 singing Can't Help Falling in Love. It better shows off her range, especially in her lower register.
