Falcon could you please add a date when match was played in the title? I always wonder if match is from early 2000's or from recent years. Obviously you can see if Boxer or Yellow are playing for example and figure it is really old, but it would be nice to know which era of BW matches come from. Thank you for casting for us and wish you all best!

Untrue. Many of the replays I cast are from before 2017. I don't know the exact year a game was played for most of my replays, unfortunately. I can usually ballpark, but an exact date isn't generally known.

I like to think the dark swarm considerably obscures vision and obfuscate targeting systems that a direct hit from projectiles are less likely. But splash damage still works.

Protoss are so slick with how their probes can run from lings, they can harass SCVs trying to build stuff, meanwhile they just warp stuff in at mouse-click speed. They seemingly have a smaller hit box when vs scarab/plague/mines etc. Also, an intangible advantage is how they know no fear!

Here's a theory I just had which may explain the Defiler Dark Swarm bug thing a little better, based on what the units actually do in the game. The bug cloud does not actually tank the stuff being fired at it, it simply obscures whatever is being fired at and makes whatever is firing into it miss. Of course this doesn't make total sense in the case of firing at a stationary building *but* it makes more sense than microscopic bugs tanking energy blasts imo.

Hyuk and bisu did amazing. I think if bisu made corsairs to block production that would have been the game charger along with more drops.
When was the last time we saw mass ultras in zvp though? I remember it being popular in the 2007-2008 era.

a REALLY elite player would let HyuK KEEP the seized base and take out two of the Zerg's near DEPLETED bases, mine and extract the rest of the resources, and STILL pull off a win. Would upset the economic imbalance JUST enough hahaha. If Bisu still has the army to do it, which he DOES if HyuK does not respond quickly enough.
Lol.. bisu definitely knows what he’s doing.. I was still playing BW back when this map was current in the OSL tournament pool.. it’s very standard that Zerg takes that third exp 2nd, then their natural.. he was keeping probe inside to keep eye on when he takes gas, to see if he going for fast gas opener, like either speed lings or fast hydra/lurk and also to keep eye on how many drones making, cause less drones prolly means more units for fast aggression etc.. bisu one of the best Protoss in history.. pro gamers played thousands of matches on these maps.. he knows
I dunno......those sunkans might have been the only thing. Had Bisu taken out that base and still had just a FEW powerful remnents of the group left....who knows. CRAZY pulloffs have happened. PROBABLY too late here, but not by much. Came to wish there were MORE resources on the boards in this game.
28:58 I think I'll disagree here. That base was takeable by Bisu. And if he's fast enough he could take that the other 3 o'clock base as well. But 2 factors - Bisu needed the right scouting to know how to immediately turn his attention to that 3 o'clock base (after destroying the base at 28:58), and Bisu needed to know that resources were low for Zerg as well. Bisu should tap out anyway, because he could have no idea Zerg were low on minerals too, and might not have enough units to overcome the Sunkens at the 3 o'clock plus any new Zerg units.
Basically this is another Zerg attrition scenario. For Protoss to win, they'd have to harass Drones more, rather than brute force / engage head-on. In a sense, Bisu's strength turned into his undoing as he focused too much on winning fights and playing out the attrition scenario. Once he snaps out of it and realize he's trapped in the attrition spiral is when he'll win.

21:00 difference between zealots and marines. Zealots can tank even ultralisks, Marines and Firebats get chopped up like butter 🧈 against Ultralisks.

Probes have an upgrade that allows them to tele-mine minerals. They just stay at mineral patches and do the long distance mining thing. Something like how Wisps in WC3 gather lumber 🪵

@@solidarity9371 unfortunately it's not - but the idea 💡 to mine faster was implemented in SC2 - just to the wrong race. I have many reservations about SC2 because they threw ideas all over the place. Like ideas 💡 non thematic to the races got implemented. There was a Zerg unit in SC2 that could drag units across the screen - that should have been thematically a Protoss recall or something related to a Templar mind trick. For example.

fighting ultras with zealots one on one, sorry, but even Bisu is not that good. Zerg showed a solid zerg game, many times neglecting dark swarm and losing a lot of units, showing that zerg is still zerg. The production capacity of zerg is not comparable to anything. Make 15 ultras at the same time and then deal with those!!!
