This channel exists to document unit counters within StarCraft 2. Tya's Unit Tournament features epic battles between units in StarCraft 2, using music from the game's soundtrack. Units are chosen from Protoss, Terran and Zerg forces, or a co-op commander such as Raynor, Nova, Artanis, or Kerrigan. Units will independently use their abilities, in a basic way. All units use Legacy of the Void stats, the same units you'd see in SC2 e-sports controlled by the likes of Serral, Maru, and ByuN. The resource beneath vespene is the unit's cost in the mod I run on the SC2 arcade, Direct Strike. Enjoy! - Hry
some of the closest fights i've ever seen on the channel, the roach vs baneling, adept vs viking, marauder vs archon and zealot vs ultralisk could easily go the other way if it was run again
Always drives me nuts in these videos that the AI can do perfectly timed stalker blinks, but can't get a proper surround.
Or focus fire
Crazy how Vanguard's does their job so efficiently
500 Ultralisks are terrifying.
What's more terrifying is how fast they all got mulched! Those vanguards treated them like god damn lings!
I loved using Vanguards in my Brutal playthrough of LotV. Paired with havocs they have a juicy 8 range which is perfect for them to sit behind your lines and just shell the enemy. It made Brutal substantially easier, including for some of the defense missions. Those Ultra/Zergling spams eat photon cannons like tissue paper. A handful of Vanguards with Havoc range boosts absolutely murders them before they have the time to do any damage.
Try vanguard energizer range doesn’t Matt with 50% attack speed
@@Saph638 I do energizers with them on certain missions, that attack speed is nice. The Havocs are mainly so they can sit behind even photon cannons and just bombard down whole waves from safety, so they are more defensive. Energizers I use on stages where I have to constantly be on the attack.
That's why I like vanguards so much. They are proper anti ground short-medium range artillery. Almost a like a protoss version of their MLRS
Although slow rate of fire, but made up with ridiculously high power per shot that scales extremely well with upgrades.
The rate the 500 ultralisks died out made them look like zerglings
Incredible fights! I was on the edge the whole time!
6/7
So close, but I overestimated that baneling damage by a whopping 1 HP that get regenerated between baneling hits.
You know what's funny about the second fight? In the expanded universe stuff, a rookie Zealot, Khastiana, managed to 1v1 an Ultralisk without backup; and in the novel, Queen of Blades, four Zealots end up butchering an Ultralisk without too much difficulty. In a lore fight, those Zealots 100% got this.
Zerg in the lore are numberless, but Protoss in the lore are utter monsters in a fight.
Given how huge ultras are in the trailers (look how huge they are in Heart of the Swarm), they'd honestly have a lot of trouble handling infantry if they can't just run over them. Ultras would be going after tanks, thors, and various mechanized siege units... a bit like the Tyranid carnifex they're obviously inspired by. It's not too hard to see a zealot pulling a Shadow of the Colossus and climbing all over the ultralisk and finding a way to shove their blades into a vulnerable location, particularly since we know that the protoss were the result of the xel'naga achieving physical perfection in a client race, and the zealot armor enhances their strength and speed even further.
@@dc8836 that's basically how it goes. Zealots are absolutely insane physically, and their leaping power is just something else. They can easily use an Ultralisk's leg as a foothold to leap onto its back, and then they just stab the head, because psi-blades do not give a shit about armour in-lore.
En una novela explican que el poder de los zerg son sus números y cuando eran una novedad era difícil eliminarlos.
Después si no tienen un estratega o que dicho estratega sea como sagara. Con alto poder de fuego pueden des destrozados
that just sounds like terrible writting...
@@dc8836 wasn't Carnifex introduced after SC1 tho?
i got 3/7 right, thought the archons would've won,
thought the zealots would've won,
thought the infested terran would've won,
and thought the banelings would've won
pretty much all but the first fight were pretty close X D if the zealots targeted the weaker ultralisk they would've won.
i love coming home after work and watching these it brings massive joy :) thank you for making these
I very like those "on the edge" victories
That marauder who made a triple archon kill was hired in hammer securities
5-2. These were fun to watch!
6/7 I literally guessed most of them
Judging by how many ultralisks there are, Vanguards will win
Zealots are tanky but I chose ultralisks because ultralisks lost last round
I chose mauraders and I didn't even know who was going to win
Thors.
Vikings are good against ground but I didn't think adepts were that tanky, still won tho
"Battlecruisers... Oh wait those aren't marines... Still won tho"
Baneli- aw man banes lost
Ultras have a huge advantage vs zealots. Very high armor vs a unit that swings twice per attack cycle (so takes double impact from armor.) Plus the zealots are small and clump, and ultras cleave.
Same.
Though in the first match, I was too awe-struck to remember to bet😅!
Alaska Vanguards vs Ukrainians
Feel you, same. Banes failed us!
wrr
These were fun! One unit left on a lot!
Wow, very close!
Thank you for the video!
Those fights was very disputing. Amazing work!
What a way to end the week, fantastic!
Some fights were so close that repeating them will probably net different results next time. Even slight position differences would change the outcome. In these cases, guessing is meaningless.
I never heard the Vanguard Saying that before at the end.. that was awesome 🛸
I've been watching alot of these lately but can i ask what does the icon below the minerals and vespene gas mean like that blue and red thing?
with how close the Viking vs adept fight was, the adepts definitely would have won if they didn't have a couple of them bug out their pathing at the start and just run around not attacking
Or if they would've attacked the half dead viking in the last part of the fight.
This isn't like the lurkers derping around not burrowing when there are enemies in range, the vikings had 2 more range than they did on the ground, which meant the adepts in the back couldn't reach them until the units in front of them died.
@@SaulGoodman3D2049 But adepts still failed to find a slot when lots of their sisters died
But then it wouldn't be Starcraft. Since every fight basically has AI trying to shove each other aside.
Just like real people in a mob.
Would you like to do some test with Ascendants? Particularly Alarak's buffed ones.
Wow I got most of these right but that Archon VS Marauder one was tough, just 1 more shot would have made the difference 😮
Best episode so ever, bro
6/7 - woo! :D
Only one I didn't get was ultra vs zealot.
Have you tried upgrade imbalances? Like 3/3/3 zealots vs unipgraded marines.
After a week or so of mostly stomps, these were all nail-biters!
Plz someone tell me the name of music at 2:33, can be heared clear at 2:54
ok so i've been watching for a few weeks and i still don't understand what the bottom numbers are the ones with the red and blue
I forgot how strong an infested Terran can be
Good Lord, that Viking got away by the skin of its teeth 😅
bring it on!!!massive war
Wow 7/7
But calm down vanguards you're in danger of looking OP
is there a version of the infested marine that shoots air with its gauss rifle instead of with rockets? if so, when was the rocket version introduced?
Some point in LOTV. The rockets have been nerfed a few times, they used to do ridiculous damage
@@Drizzle52693 thank you for the knowledge
Infested terrans have actually been removed from PVP, Infestors now have a new version of the defiler’s shroud.
Probably a Mini Rocket Launcher attached to the Gauss Rifle
Is the Vanguard campaign Vanguard or the coop ones?
7/7 but with this close calls it was more likely luck.
4/7, not a very good score compared to the comments. Thors usually don’t win fights against land, but they somehow did so this time. I thought 500 Ultralisks was a lot, but I guess vanguards have too much firepower. Banelings only lost probably because of space in the end. If the excess banelings had split off to blow up on the other roaches earlier, they would’ve drawed.
I almost had a perfect score. Damn roaches. Anyway, those were some damn close fights.
What type of infested marines were those???
Would the outcome change if BC use Yamato?
Bro that viking v adept fight tho.
5/7
Not surprised by that one. Vanguards are nutty.
Lmao this feels like your way of showing us that Ultras are still stronk as hell despite losing to the Vanguards.
Oh dayum, CLOSE, but I thought Archons would take it.
Oh yeah, Thors got this in the bag. That's quite the numbers advantage, but the ghost DPS will drop quickly.
Holy shit, ALSO close, down to the wire, but I figured the Vikings faster fire rate and heavier armor would win out. I just thought it'd be by a wider margin.
Yeah, BC's. IT's have great anti-air, but that's just not enough of them.
...... Was this intended to end as a draw? This feels like you meant for it to end as a draw, and I voted as such.
5/7 The ultras were slightly too much and so were the BC's, in hindsight on the BC ones I should've looked at the numbers more carefully, thought there were 30 rines.
5/7, my best so far, though that was mostly guessing and some were insanely close.
I didn't think bcs would kill terrans so quickly, and that last baneling couldn't secure a tie :(
Holy shit that roach
Hello bro! Make a video with 20 bc vs 20 carrier using micro for both.
1:11
BLADES OF JUSTICE
speak by ultralisk
Would be cool to get an ai to super micro some of these battles with 100kapm
the music sounds like from Heroes V academy faction.
Holy moly these are some incredibly balanced fights! Especially Viking vs Adept. If it weren't for the 3 Adepts tap dancing in the back row and not firing, the match would have gone the other way. Same with Roach vs Baneling and Marauder vs Archon: sooo close. This is the best video yet....and my FIRST 100%!! Woot :D
And with mikro?
They don't come much closer than some of these contests ended up being.
I didn't play thr game since WoL on release, stubled upon this a month ago it became an evening ritual.
4/7
1 (-)wtf is vanguard?
2 (+) Ultras - AOE is good, retaliation for previous figh was swift.
3 (+) Marauders for the win, that one peep of HP was good.
4 (-) Forgot how bad ghosts follow up was.
5 (+) Vikings =bad, adepts = worce.
6 (+) that was close but BT continued to be operational.
7 (-) honestly thought it's gonna be mutual.
My brain, for some reason, thought ghosts had lockdown and could just disable the thors.
5/7- but everything was so freaking close
7/7. So close in so many fights.
The Ghost's deads are so gore xD
Ultralisk
Ultralisk
Archon
Ghost
Viking
Battlecruiser
Banelings
3/7
I'd like to see the vanguard fight apocalisk
Nooooo! 6/7, the banelings didn't pull through for me at the end :(
Archons are starting to strike me as schmuck-bait.
5/7
some of these were super close.
too many vanguards for ultras to get a surround, pretty easy guess on that one.
i thought the ultras were gonna shred the zealots a little better than they did, but they still ended up winning.
guessed archons for the third one, and they lost by one attack. super close.
the thors took more losses than i thought they would, but still came out on top so pog.
took the right road again with the vikings, but it came down to the wire as well.
was pretty confident with the bcs, but i knew they would take a lot of damage from the infested terrans.
never bet against baneli- oh.
Vanguards are just excellent units
5/7...
The archons came close, but they couldn't quite finish the job.
And the banelings finally let me down. Alas.
Can ghosts not snipe thors?
I knew Vanguards do massive damage but seeing *Ultras* get torn apart like that is still wild. Kinda throws me off even.
Spectre(psionic lash) vs thors
Nux vs Tosh
Makes you wonder: why are they called Vanguards if they are clearly a rear unit?
Can somebody explain why lorewise they put the worst warriors in charge of one of the most destructive mechanized units in the universe?
Like you failed with dagger like weapons
-here you go buddy take this suit that can take down low flying aircraft
Start to think they don't take the chain of ascension after all
6/8. Not bad, not bad
Next video : how many ultralisk to take down Tya's GPU !
Imagine ghost just doing snipe shots through the glass to take down thors
Now I'm just angry. 6/7, failing at the goddamn Roach vs. Baneling. Why did this one have to be 7 matchups?!
7/7 Damn...
I guess incorrect for ghost vs thor, and baneling vs roach
5/7
Забавно что роуч успел восстановить то самое 1 хп что бы пережить банлинга
I only predicted succesfully the Marauder's victory XD.
Zerg players after seeing the first round: Ultras suck man! Blizzard please!
Zerg players after seeing the second round: Man Ultras are so strong sometimes!
1:40 Gigachad walk
The taldarim really are the best units
YES
Meanwhile campaign Vanguards would’ve hit twice as hard.
Those two adepts who weren’t in range at the beginning lost that fight for them.
Wow Vanguards just shred
5/7 better that usual XD
This is the only time I've been 100% right and somehow it was on this video... 7/7 all close fights
4/6 but coulda been 6/6. SUUUUPER close on the two I got wrong
6/7 :D
7/7 wool! Biggest win ever. Lessons to be learned, Archons are terrible here and Vikings shouldn't be underestimated
5/7 Zealots and banes have let me down :(
If it was unupgraded ultras, the Vanguards could easily kill thousands of them. Upgrades affect them so insanely so with their 16 attacks.
If ghosts still had lockdown from SC1 that Thor fight would’ve been so different
5/7, Banes and zealots let me down
last surviving unit: ggez
this is literally been way too close in this whole fight.
Surprisingly, I thought the zealots would win because.. they're just zerglings but better.
5/7
1. Vanguards 5. UT 3. Mars 4. Thors 5. Viks 6. BC 7. Roaches
wow 7/7!
i have never seen ultras melt so fast, lmao
