- Finally I post a full walkthrough to the very infamous platformer from Psygnosis and Traveller's Tales, this time having the footage recorded using my Terratec G5.
So far, the one walkthrough done by GameSharkWizard was just awful, as he used cheats, which is always very lame, and then the other one done by AVideoGAmeStory actually did it right without using cheats, but has to take damage at some moments, but never lost a single life. Both people who did their respective walkthroughs to this game, did all these on an emulator, which is just not really good. But here, it's all done with my PS2 and my Terratec G5 at last.
So enjoy this much better walkthrough to this game, as I play this game all the way through without CHEATS! as I give aaronfowkes and others definete proof, that THEY can beat this game without cheats, as they just have to pay attention of what I'm doing for my whole run on the game. - Hry

The only problem of this game was the controllers + camera angles. It was really annoying and even as a kid i remember I was always complaining about it. Yet, a fun game. And the music was really good too.
I don't find the problem with it, the player can move the camera and it's usually pointing in the good direction, I think the real complain is how slow your character moves.

Consider yourself lucky, since you are NOT a completist (I'm NOT a completist either, except for all Psygnosis games). I can't believe I loved those two crappy Psygnosis games as a kid and as a teenager.

And Plus, the controls weren't awful for me, but it's the bad camera, that makes the controls bad, IME.
But with alot of getting used to the play control, aswell as with a bit of figuring out how to defeat enemies easily by shooting them 6 times from a very far distance, it won't be a chore anymore.
i remember this game, there few games that i would love to find the name of ... ps1 game expert reply to me so i can describe you the games and i want to see if you know the name..
But now you CAN beat it, while you watch the whole walkthrough all the way through. This level, and even the game, for me, wasn't really that hard.

hahaahah this game was a complete shit, but the video brought me a lot of memories...
To me this game was broken the controls were AWFUL!! and camera was garbage and once you die that's it no checkpoints its back to the start .... only game I ever played where I couldn't beat it.
At least, you can simply just relax, and watch my whole walkthrough, so you really don't have to beat it. And besides, the ending of the game is NOT even worth seeing!
I did watch the rest I actually didnt think there was that much even in the game then again I was little when I played lol at least someone can beat it ^_^

I came here to discover why it's "bad" or "infamous" and I only see a slow character but everything else seems good...just my opinion for now.
It has actually become somewhat of a guilty pleasure of mine. Don't get me wrong though, it's still bad, but despite its awfulness it has fully grown on me, especially since I first had it way back in 1998 as one of my first ever games I owned for the PS1. Due to the awful camera however, it still gave me a lot of jumpscares, especially when you blindly walk into a moving hazardous object like the ghosts in the castle present or those wasps in the lumber yard that can fearfully and shockingly hurt you.
This game was bad. It's a shame cause the environments and music worked pretty well.
I remember borrowing this from a friend once thinking it would be okay. Oddly enough, I still like this game despite it's apparent flaws. I did beat it myself a long while back, but it took some time. Once you got used to the game's flow, it wasn't too bad aside from a couple of levels which just sucked in general.
Lol. I actually managed to torture myself playing this garbage from my childhood all the way through, and this, along with Retro Force, are very good reasons to hate Psygnosis with a huge passion. Not just because of the gameplay, but also because of stories and characters, as they are very generic and void of life, as I prove it in my Review that I'll be posting once I'm done with this walkthrough. Thankfully I will never have to play this game ever again.
It´s a shame that the gameplay is so awful and shoddy, because the music in this game rocks, as well as the atmosphere in general. I think it could have been a great platformer

well at least its on emulator the enhanced psx emulator and dare to play this shitty game called rascal at your own risk. i know there is an iso .bin and a .cue file.
Really did could have been, yet TBH, this game is far from being one of the worst games ever made. While the play controls, difficulty, music and graphics are passable at best, the rest of the game leaves too way much to be desired. This was one of the games, that made Psygnosis go belly-up from there, along with other games such as ODT, Psybadek (The absolute worst game ever), Retro Force, Attack of the Saucerman and Formula 1 98 before being reacquired by SCEE in September 1999.

What the fuck am I looking at!? These graphics are crap, and obviously, that is the least bad thing about this. The atmosphere in this is actually decent, but the music is certainly no Crash Bandicoot. Control is everything in a platformer and this game's control is somehow too loose and too stiff at the same time, much like Bubsy 3D, but not as bad. But the camera is even worse, as it's like it suffers from extreme ADHD... and maybe asperger syndrome. Hey, I am autistic myself, so I can say from experience. The enemy AI is simple minded, but somehow works against you. Combine this with the most pathetic weapon in existance and pickups that will literally drain your soul, and this just ends up being one of the worst patform games in existance. That is all there is to it... okay, there's also an awful story. Basically, a evil time wizzard needs a scientist's time machine to travel through time to take over history. He ends up with the scientist, caught in the time rift, and the scientist's son, Rascal, must save him... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! Yes, that is how it goes. Just... think about that one for a minute. XD

You are indeed one of the many people who has bashed it for all it's worth, but I can already tell you: From what I have at least played, it isn't really as bad as people like you would think it is. I know it's bad, but this game is far from being one of the worst games ever released. And to be honest, I have seen worse games than this, and Bubsy 3D is still one of them. And yes, I do agree on the plot of the game being laughable and very lackluster and generic, but that was the spirit in where Psygnosis went for a really cool publisher to a depressingly grating one, as this is one of the games, along with Psybadek and Retro Force, which both have the similar criticism as Rascal, but I think Psybadek is much worse than Rascal, and even ODT, Formula 1 98 and Attack of the Saucerman contributed to their ultimate downfall until their original parent company Sony bought them back and forced them to make good games from that point on.
