Before he became the Dante that we know today in the DMC series, he could have been a more "rough around the edges" kind of character. Rebellious, cynical, hedonistic, arrogant and cared about people but because of the evil (demons), he was exposed to at such a young age- he was an asshole. A defense mechanism so to speak. He also came off as a lost soul; especially at the end of the game when he finishes fighting Vergil once he found out his true intentions. But after Kat basically reassured him, he'd gradually become the Dante that we know. DmC: Devil May Cry's reboot had a lot of potentials to be even better than the original story of Dante, but as usual- people's nostalgia blinds them from what could be. For all we know, what I mentioned above- could have been Ninja Theory's plan. Start off with an unpolished Dante who is reckless and an asshole, then gradually transform him into the Dante that we've come to know but with way more character development and potential struggles that would define him in the end. Plus, they could have even expanded the enemies of the games. We'd be able to fight demons AND angels. Maybe even some other beings that could help to expand DMC's lore. But like I said Kanye shrug people and their nostalgia.

The original DMC and the Rebooted DMC appeal to two different audiences. Not vastly different, but different. The original is very influenced by Japanese anime and manga, while the reboot has a very modern western taste. The game was good. Not great, but still good. However, since it was a drastic reboot from the origins we know, many people recieved it badly and for good reason. What would have been better would be a DMC spinoff. Had this game been a spinoff instead of a reboot, there would most likely be a sequel.

Well, its an often reused enemy concept in all of DMC, but becomes cooler everytime a new entry releases. Its latest form as of now is in the form of Fury in DMC5, which is still very much annoying to deal with.
It's fun to perfect evade or parry them... Basically a tutorial of how to fight vergil later on but kinda annoying if theres 2 of them, a witch or even those big enemy who always charge you (exception for the saw enemies bcs its fun to parry too... No not the chainsaw you met on mission 3)

The original DMC and the Rebooted DMC appeal to two different audiences. Not vastly different, but different. The original is very influenced by Japanese anime and manga, while the reboot has a very modern western taste.
The game was good. Not great, but still good. However, since it was a drastic reboot from the origins we know, many people recieved it badly and for good reason. What would have been better would be a DMC spinoff. Had this game been a spinoff instead of a reboot, there would most likely be a sequel.

I actually liked this version of Dante, he comes across more realistic. The original Dante always just seemed like a cheesy overly perfect haired live action anime character to me; I mean the original was cool and all, but only in a endearing "Guy Sensei" "Tuxedo Mask" way LOL

The point here is not Dante's starter character. He hates everyone, loathes everything and is full on angst. The thing is, he ends up protecting the earth he so loathed once.

Well, its an often reused enemy concept in all of DMC, but becomes cooler everytime a new entry releases. Its latest form as of now is in the form of Fury in DMC5, which is still very much annoying to deal with.

It's fun to perfect evade or parry them... Basically a tutorial of how to fight vergil later on but kinda annoying if theres 2 of them, a witch or even those big enemy who always charge you (exception for the saw enemies bcs its fun to parry too... No not the chainsaw you met on mission 3)

mr_los People think the new Dante is "too edgy" purely based off the fact that he doesn't have what realistically would be considered edgier hair in the older games, and because he swears. That's really the only reason people hate it. You'll find the vast majority of the complaints come from people who haven't played the game.
