There's also the fact that when Vergil did it, the stab was literally immediate following knocking Rebellion out of Dante's hand. Nero however wasn't as quick and even did a twirl with Yamato before attempting the stab. As inexperienced as he was, I bet even DMC3 Dante would've been able to dodge Nero's stab in almost exactly the same way
I have to point out that laughter he makes after dodging and catching his sword - what a detail

This is how you do legacy characters. You show them as cool as they were, and do not denigrate them to promote your newer characters. Modern game developers (and writers in general) should take the lesson.
Yes agree, DMC 4 do Dante justic without overshadow Nero's introduction. not like certain series for example the Boruto series feels like "here the new characters aaaand nerf every old characters until they look pathetic" vibe

There's also a very good representation of the generations passing the torch. Dante saying "I entrust it to you, what you do now is your call" is a beautiful metaphor for the older generation entrusting this world to the other one

Dante in 4 is probably my favorite version of him. He's just a classic guy no matter the game.

DMC 4 was the first game of the series i saw and when I found the scene where Dante just blowed off a pope's head, I felt the same as Nero "why is he killing innocents?". this game without context really is something
Lolol same,I assumed Nero was the good guy and Dante was the villain and when my brother told me about the past games(I got stuck like 1/3 of the way) I was shook
I was more confused than anything because I know the lore but I didn't get it why was Dante doing this then I started thinking where those priest's some kind of terrorists in disguise or something until we realised they were demons
That scene is honestly great. Like, swap the music for one of Dante's themes and it just becomes another scene of Dante being a badass. It shows how genuinely terrifying Dante must be for the demons.
I like how at 18:09 when Dante is messing around with the lure that the demon is using he is always avoiding their touch since their touch can freeze you, which shows how not only did he know that the demon was their already, he also figured out the trick the demon uses to keep his "prey" easy to devour
Not just that but at the start of the cutscene you can see Dante react to the smell of Dagon before hearing the voice of the lures, foreshadowing the line "You can hide that body... But that smell, Ho boy!"
Usually in other games, New enemies introduce themselves with a showoff to the protagonist. But in DMC, Dante introduce himself to the new enemies and make them look like ass clowns... 😂😂

I only just realised how when Dante stuck his sword into the ground, he mimicked the ‘revving up’ action Nero did.

i think you're misinterpreting: he's saying he wants the yamato so it can stay in the family - we already know dante and vergil are brothers at this point obviously lol. if anything dante is saying nero isn't a member of the family because if dante really wanted it to "stay in the family" he would leave it with nero

@@rexhasta I think you missed how many steps ahead Dante was. He gives him a lesson on the sword's history and then says "I cant Have something of that power floating around now can I? It's gotta stay in the family." and he's looking directly at his nephew when he says it and he says it with a tone that's endearing. Nero claims "I need this" and Dante just replies with "keep it." ? Dante was Power checking Nero to make sure Yamato was safe in his hands, He slapped him in the back of the head for going in for a kill shot after Disarming him, Dante was in total control. The whole game hints relation to Dante and clearly Dante is aware of this to some degree.

Dmc4 Dante is basically a walking theater stage.
The scene with Dagon, the frog looking demon, is one of my favorites. Beyond what was shown, when you get to a similar boss earlier as Nero you have to play a short section before it jumps out to ambush you, but Dante shows up and already knows it’s there so you go straight into the main boss. It’s a cool and funny way to show how much more experienced he is than Nero.

DMC 4 is like everyone’s peak look imo I mean we got Hollywood superstar Dante, dominatrix Trish, and Lady looks cute and sexy at the same time.
I also like Nero's design in 4 over 5.
DMC V was even better, crazy pizza delivery man, a high school chad, a hippie girl, milf of the year Trish, a mysterious black guy, an edgylord and a mephedrone lover girl.

as repetitive as this game gets, it has something special about it, it shows the DMC world like no other game, it shows a glimpse of the lives of normal people, which i find highly interesting and would love to see more of it. Also i absolutely love the character models and cutscene animations in this game.
I love how people/demons underrestimate Dante power and thinking his human, but then later they get shocked and confused about how he is so powerful, It's because Dante is half human and half demon, but more powerful than both!
Funniest part: they never seem to catch on until they're about to be defeated

it's interesting that Dante appears to be Triggering at 7:50, but reverts back multiple times. either he's consciously suppressing his trigger as it responds to being punched in the face repeatedly, or Nero's devil arm is setting something off while punching him in the face repeatedly
It was reacting to nero. The dmc4 novel shows how this happened again after nero firstly awakened his semi devil trigger.

@@RiderBreaker that was the Rebellion. Vergil stabbed Dante with the Rebellion in Dmc3 and it awakened his devil form (not SDT) the Rebellion merges man and devil, the Yamato separates man from devil

Only one of the weapons you get from the bosses in this game makes any sense. A fist weapon from a snake/plant lady who doesn't use her fists, an exploding dart weapon from a fire centaur thing and a transforming artillery weapon that's disguised as a briefcase; that's similar to the what the boss you get it from does during the fight.
That's because the weapon themselves did not originate from that boss. Those devil arms were completely made from a different demon. They were there on the hell gate to power it

Each weapon was made to mimic a characteristic or a type of damage that each boss supposedly deals out.

@@ilhanthediamondcrafter9767 So that technically means the order killed not only a Gilgamesh, but killed both Pandora and Lucifer aka the two people who have the means to destroy the world in their own ways. Even though Lucifer is a terribly utilized weapon for someone who’s been known for causing destruction and all.
Yet nobody was able to get Sparda (Trish gave it to them but still) and Rebellion. Only the Yamato was taken but at that point, the weapon was damaged.
