- The best universal remote is the one you already have. HDMI CEC is the feature you didn't know about. You can use HDMI CEC & ARC to control all of your devices with only your original TV remote. You can even control you TV and soundbar with another remote. In this video I will you how I control my Nvidia Shield, Klipsch Soundbar, and Fios cable box, with my Samsung TV remote.

I do not have a NVidia. How does this get programmed to a Amazon Firestick?? It’s not a selectable option when pairing the Samsung remote. Great video, as NVidia is an option but not Amazon Fire TV.

Good info. I'm a long term Harmony user, but I've just recently setup a new system w/ an LG C8, Apple TV 4K and Yamaha receiver. To my surprise the LG remote controls everything perfectly. I have the Apple TV 4K connected directly to the LG C8 and the LG C8 connected to the Yamaha via ARC. In the past I would have connected the Apple TV 4K to the receiver, but this is working out well. Clean an simple.

Cool video! We bought that very same Klipsh soundbar a few weeks ago, and all of a sudden whenever we turn on the TV, the soundbar and cable box would also turn on. had no idea why, but now i know!
Hey Chris, congratulations on your excellent video explaining how to use the TV manufacturer's remote to control other devices connected to the television. Why didn't Samsung give us such easy to understand instructions?? Thanks for taking the time and effort to enlighten us.
Great video and example of how CEC works. One quick tip, which i'm sure you'll appreciate as an Nvidia shield owner, is that instead of going into the menu and putting the shield to sleep to get everything else to turn off, you can press the back button and home button at the same time and it will immediately put the shield to sleep. Discovered this by accident one day lol. Keep the great videos coming!

Bruh, keeping it simple & minimalist. I bought Logitech for $100+ and it's collecting dust. My LG TV remote control them all. I've been trying to fix the remote & AT&A box issue, that's all. Give stars dude.

I had that small remote before and what a POS it was! I had to replace it 3 times till I got a bigger Samsung over model remote which worked a lot better

It’s not the HDMI that does the work. It’s the ARC-HDMI input
We can’t see the remote as you describe it. Not very useful
I plugged my old Polk sound bar into my new Q6 and it recognized it. Pointed it to Optical Output. Couldn't believe it, no HDMI cable to it, it doesn't have it. CEC was set to AUTO from the factory. Great tech these days.

Depends on how far away from screen your seating is........if it’s too close, then no. You’ll be craning your neck to look up.
I’ve had nothing but trouble trying to get CEC to work in my system so I just went back to my harmony. Did you have any issues along the way when setting this up
I own a Logitech Harmony One, and nothing can compare to it!
I initially had issues with my cable box but after unplugging it and back it everything was fine. I will admit that it works better if you only have one or two devices. Otherwise you might have issues with everything turning on. The good thing though is that they'll power off with the tv. Honestly I dont really use remotes on my house since I have harmony hubs in every room and I use the Elite in my home theater.
Majestechs Yes, I have had similar issues with CEC. 
When using the harmony hub,I had to disable that feature

Arc on Samsung does not play well with my Onkyo receiver's arc , We even had someone come to the house to set it up again because we thought we were doing something wrong and he could not get it working correctly either , We ended up going with a Logitech Harmony Companion remote to control our TV , BR, Cable box , Roku , Sonos , Onkyo receiver ect , And we use Google assistant to control it.
Same here. The volume on the Samsung remote works perfectly with the Onkyo's volume, but the Onkyo's remote doesn't do anything on the Samsung TV. Also, the Onkyo remote app has a lovely interface for the TV, but it is completely non-functional. 😒

Very true. I only recently realized that my Sony TV remote works perfectly well to control my Apple TV. No setup at all. And it also controls my cable box just fine - with a little setup.

Chris, I have a question about voice control. What to do when you speak a word by individual letters and want to speak two words. We need to keep a space between two words-say Good Morning -you say g o o d now I want to keep a space and then to say m o r n i n g . When I say keep space, it write "keep space".

Awesome, Awesome video! That was a GREAT lesson! I have a question. I have all Samsung components in my bedroom with the same remote you have, and my biggest complaints are 1st, the remote is not backlit and 2nd, there are not enough buttons on it to be efficient. I have to go through about 17 screens just to set the sleep timer. Do you happen to know if they make a universal remote that does all the stuff you are able to do in this video, plus has individual buttons for everything - numbers, sleep, microphone Netflix, etc.? Have you done a video on that? Also, my biggest complaint with the Logitech remotes is the remotes themselves turn on and off. This means if you have 2 remotes - a Samsung TV remote and a Harmony remote - and you turn the system on with the Samsung remote, the Harmony remote will not work until you hit the power button on the Harmony remote. This can cause problems with the other remote or the system itself. So I want a remote that doesn't turn off - like the comcast cable box ones. Do you know if anything like that exists? Do you have a recommendation? Thanks for all of your help!

I really do like this feature a lot. But the one issue that I’ve ran into with this is that if I’m using a device that won’t turn on the TV automatically when the TV comes on, I’ll turn on the TV with the remote and it will automatically turn on my PS4 pro with it. So if I’m trying to use my Xbox One X, I then have to manually switch the input to the Xbox and then after the PS4 pro finally boots up it automatically switches input BACK to PS4 now that it’s booted up when I’m already on Xbox and then I have to switch back again and then also manually turn off the PS4. Lol. Maybe I’m doing something wrong but that’s how it’s working right now.

Hi there, I have 2 Samsung TVs, one is 60" and one is 55". they have the same remote control including Samsung BN5901274A. The issue is both TVs are side by side one connecting to PS4 for gaming and the 55" connected to Nvidia Shields when I turn the sound on the 55" it turns the 60" up, is there a way of stopping this? Also, how do you configure the Samsung BN5901274A to increase or decrease the sound? When I press the Vol button is just mute the TV. thank you.

Hello, I have the Samsung remote & I have Fios. I can get to the guide & do the channels. Do you know how to get to the dvr from the Samsung remote? I can do almost everything except figure out how to get to drv menu from the Samsung remote. So far I have to switch back to the cable remote to access the DVR.
