The guy is not a “country boy” but a tradesman on “Walz” - meaning he has finished his apprenticeship and now travels the country and internationally to learn his trade with many other businesses wherever he finds short-term employment. Within the “Walz” - three years and a day - he is banned to enter his home (there is a curfew of a radius of 50 km around his home) and he travels with the bare necessities and tools only, wearing this traditional costume. Many people give them rides while hitchhiking the country. They’re always very interesting to talk to. They learn many new techniques in their trade that way. Great tradition among carpenters, masons, ship builders etc. - in former times, even many other trades, such as tailors etc. would partake in this tradition. Today, it is mostly, as said, masons and carpenters, who still do this.

18:27 That got lost in translation a bit. The German word "alle" in this context means "empty" like in all the food was eaten, all the beer was drunk and now it's "alle". The better translation might be "gone".
The word you use for an empty space like a room or in this situation a stadium is "leer".
A bottle or a table can be "leer" too - because it's a defined space - but if you refer to a undefined amount of something that's been emptied, a pile of stuff that's been removed through consumption you rather use "alle".
"Das Fass ist LEER." (The keg is empty.)
"Das Bier ist ALLE." (The beer is empty/all gone.)
"Der Wühltisch mit den Socken ist leer." (The rummage table for the socks is empty.)
"Die Socken sind alle." (The socks are empty/out of stock.)
Not to confuse you but in another, more common context "alle" can mean "everybody" or "all" (Yes, those words share a Germanic root).
Like in the children song "Alle Vögel sind schon da" (All the birds have already arrived) or the kindergarten teacher's request "Alle mitsingen!" (Everybody sing along!)
That double meaning can make it confusing for people learning German.

Btw: Just looked it up. Wife swap was a british TV invention in january 2003. Germany seems to be the first country who immediately adopted the concept within the same year in July 2003. Denmark followed in October 2003. The US adopted the idea in September 2004 according to wikipedia. Many other countries followed the years after. Though I never watched that show ^^. It's just "scripted reality" and we already had too much of that crap :D
Actually there was a lot of controversy here in germany because one of the first participants got humiliated by the production team so they filed a lawsuit as they violated her human dignity. Those first episodes are no longer allowed to be broadcasted.

The guy from wife swap and his real wife - they got a complaint filed against them (or several IIRC) for having "fun" on their 1st floor balcony in broad daylight. So they live in an appartment complex with 5 stories buildings all around, so basically every neighbor was able to see them.
Think of the song Bad Touch from The Bloodhound Gang for details.

The Dongsi Döngsi lady actually worked at my employer's cafeteria when the video was made. Although I didn't start there until much later, it's still a running joke there.
On the other hand, she was mocked so much for it that she quit. A constant reminder not to give interviews on the street... especially not for TV total!

00:25 You're right. Memes started as still images with a caption making fun of a specific situation, like a caricature. Once only used by nerds on their favourite internet forums they developed by time to become this massive meme culture we now have.
02:14 These were standard plastic shopping bags back in the days. Every shop had their own with their logo on the sides. To reduce littering and pollution plastic bags are kinda banned now and have been replaced with either paper bags or more durable re-usable ones. According to the question if zero or light is better: None of them! If you're struggling with either your sugar consumption or your body weight be assured that thinking about what to drink is just another indicator that something else is horribly wrong. Balance is key!
08:30 Classic, but unfortunately the joke got lost in translation. He's too drunk to even know his own language and although it might seem correct on first look, he answered the question what he did with something like "I have dancinged."
20:07 Drachenlord is one of the most famous lolcows in germany. Him struggling with his haters made it on public TV, bc he kept engaging and inviting them to his place. Not accepting any help it got quite dramatic. In the end the whole village he lived in got upset, he lost a court case, his yt channel followed and he sold his house to move on. He didn't learn or changed his behaviour, nowadays he's streaming on another platform.

The guy @08:13 isn't a "country boy" but wearing the traditional carpentry attire of black corduroy fabric accompanied with the typical hat - you can see these guys sitting atop in-build houses across central Europe constructing roof trusses. After their successful apprenticeship period they become journeyman craftsman, walking from one construction site to next to further learn and improve under different masters. This journeyman period takes three years if I remember correctly and requires them to follow a traditional code.
Before leaving their home they'll have a party getting drunk, culminating in the great finale of having a carpenter's nail hammered right through one earlobe to wear an earring. If the journeyman carpenter would break the code by behaving in a way which would damage the guild's reputation other journeymen carpenters would confront him, rip off the earring and kick him off the guild - for this reason "Schlitzohr"/"slit-ear" is an expression for a person of questionable reputation and morals in german.
The traditional code consists of coming your home place no closer than a certain distance at any given time during their three year journey, never sleeping under the same roof more than once (In a row? Not sure about the specifics. 😅), only taking free accomodation provided by generosity or in exchange for work but never paid for, and I think they aren't allowed to travel using motor operated vehicles - that's why a gnarled rootstock is an indispensable component of their attire.
When a tradition like this is going on for centuries the emergence of certain networks, some form of infrastructure becomes inevitable - and it shows in carpentry journeymen associated "Kneipen" (a "Kneipe" being the germans' analogue of the irishs' pub) which are normal locals open to anybody but granting privilegues like free drinking and in case of no accomodation available letting journeymen sleep right there after closing - and having a carpentryman fueled by honour over at your local every now and then probably turns out quite helpful oftentimes..

6:16 Unfortunately, the meme behind the gentleman who was beaten is not the right one, and every (normal-thinking) person understands the problem behind it, the meme actually says "I didn't do anything, I just stood there and drank my beer" But unfortunately that only works in the right moment (example: in the game Wreckfest, if you have hit someone there, then you can say exactly that) but as I said, it only works in the right context

Yes, the interview took place at the height of a public debate about cannabis in Germany. As far as I know, the only role of the drugs commissioner is to defend the government's position and act as a lightning rod. The person who makes the decision is more likely to be the Minister of Health (and possibly the Minister of Justice).

2:55 The difference, taste aside, is marketing. One is made for men, the other for women. You can see it clearly from their respective ads. Kinda stupid if you ask me. I'd personally prefer light but I don't really like most soft drinks anymore anyways. Like so many other unhealthy stuff (don't take this as me saying I eat healthy all the time lol), you lose the taste for it, once you've been off the product for long enough. Most of the things I ate as a kid are disgusting to me now.
