Your videos are great!!! I really enjoy the amount of detail you go into, and also the visual aid you provide. I learn so much from your videos. I would really love if you could train me in electrical installations.

In your other SPD video, you mentioned that it is code to use 16mm wire on the surge arrestor - how does it work here where clearly the incoming source is smaller than 16mm

Hi. Thank you for your informative videos as a training refrigeration technician I am learning a lot from your videos both electrical and technical. Just one question about the surge arrestor, I bought one recently which is a double pole. On the top side it has neutral and live and at the bottom it has earth only. On its body the neutral pole has lite indicator as it has on the live side. Now on connection I have an indicator only on the live feeding side only. My question is about the neutral side lite indicator which is not lighting, is it correct or I have missed something on connection, pls help.

When adding the surge arrester to the DIN rail next to the L in main switch with circuit breaker (247v) and using a "jump wire" instead of copper busbars should you wear insulated gloves?

You use mostly L-E connected surge arrestors. At 13:46 into the video you show an arrestor that has 3 x L-N and a N-E arrestors. Normally at the point of connect into the property the Neutral is grounded, so there must be a huge current (probably in excess of 2kV) before the N-E arrester operates. YET. Insurance and other idiots (like importers) require the Neutral to Earth arrester. Does that make sense?

Should I use DC SPD with a UC of 500vdc or 100vdc for Lightning protection on my Solar power system?
Solar charge controller it has 100V max PV voltage input.

Can you do more videos on old DB's that look a mess with old components etc and are very confusing with a mess of wires etc

Doesn’t the live wire go from the output of earth leakage to input of surge arrester

Bus bar should have cover or insulated.

How does this device protect your appliance if it's connected in parallel. Meaning when some access goes down some goes through ending up damaging your equipment. I will feel safe if it was connected in series.

    • @ecologicaltime

Its job is to shunt high amplitude voltages with a high di/dt to earth and must be connected in parallel
