Great stuff as usual Scott! Have you ever deep drop fished with a non-electric reel, and if so what was it? I got an old Penn 49L recently that is supposedly popular with west cost deep water jig fishermen. I think it brings in 3ft of line per turn.
@ragnarragnarsson3128 Yes. We've done it for goldens once to 600' not a lot of fun haha. Also we fish frequently still at 300 or so with regular level wind Penn Squalls. Deep drop jigging is different and we've only really done it to 350' so far.

what's your set up on the piscifun. what is the max line we can put in? we are planning to drone drop bait on surf surfing. danacom 1200 is just too expensive for surf fishing hobby,
@PnoyWonderBoy I've got ours on a Shimano Trevala Jigging rod. Mine held 400 yards of 65# braid exactly. obviously it will hold a lot more of 40# braid. @ryanhencke8238 That was the 10,000MAH battery. It's not currently on their website but will be again as soon as they get more in stock. WE are going to test out the 5,000 this spring on tilefish. shrsl.com/4en5h I would love to tell you how much juice was left in it after this day but it came lose and fell into the water because I didn't have it leashed to the rod! Won't make that mistake again! It's replacement had a hard day and had about 60% battery left at the end of the day of jigging up tile and a few blackfin from 300-350'

QUESTION: you have had them for a few months.. how have they been working out? Can the line counter be switched to Feet? Why does it not pick up the last 10' of line?

@LighthouseMarineTech They work great! Light enough for deep jigging too. The line counter in meters is really not a big deal. It just gives you an idea of how much you have out, not water depth. AT those depths, you are scoped out anyway. It stops before it gets to the tip to keep you from ripping your gear through the line guides of expensive rods! What is the best rod for the Pici reel? I'd like to buy my buddy a set of reels and rods.
@Goosedoublelime We have ours on a Shimano Trevala TVC58XXHB this is a 5'-8" rod with a power pro line rating of 65-100. Power: extra heavy Action moderate fast. This combo with the Kraken is lightweight and a great jigging rig as well as bottom rig rod.
We have boated many citation blueline tile, goldens down to 800' and even some blackfin Tuna got jigged up in a deer prop video from last year. Get the Kraken Combo with the battery. I can't tell you yet how long the 5000mah battery will last but I have a complete battery video coming out on electric reels this weekend. I have 4 tanacom 750s, 2 tanacom 1000s and 1 tanacom 1200. The 750 and 1000s have done me well, however I am beyond disappointed in the 1200. The spool has so much enertia from the big size it back lashes every single time no matter how you adjust it. That and the counter keeps breaking. When that happens the reel won't reel. Looking into the diawa mj a d shimano beastmaster at the moment.
@TrentonKnepp We have 2 of the 1200s and have not run into that issue dropping up to 4# weights...yet. We'll keep an eye out for it though.

Nice review. What’s the Rod you’re using on the kraken? Just got mine in and trying to figure what to use.

What size weight are you all using?

Piscifun is basically a throw away reel, there are no cleaning or service centers ,after the warranty which i don't know were you send it China or Japan and loose it for a season.
@williambradshaw7099 and guess what? I don't care. with the performance I'm getting and cost, I'd buy another tomorrow. We and our clients are hard on gear and these reels are holding up great. My Valtix jigging reel is going on it's 3rd year of hard use and is running great. We've blown up multiple Penn reels in less time than that. Not use if you noticed where pretty much ALL fishing reels are made now days... Piscifun puts good gear in more people's hands that can afford it. Stick around here and you'll see how long they last. I drone fish. I wouldn't use an electric reel to reel in the fish. Seems to take the joy out of fishing. Since I fly the drone out 300 yards I would use the electric reel when I need to reel in to change bait.

You're right @cornelmihalca4779 but that was not the point of this video. It was to show lighter weight options and how a budget reel compares to the high end model. Maybe eventually I'll have a smaller Diawa... I hope you subscribed and hit the bell icon to turn on notifications. I'm trying to get to 100k this year and revive the channel a bit and every little bit helps!
Thanks for the reviews. I have owned small an large electrics for many years. A better comparison would have been one of the smaller Daiwas available in the U.S . One day's work on a brand new cheap reel is all well and good, BUT, the day something around 25lbs eats the hook that little reel is going to overheat.
There is no clutch disegage while a fish is pulling drag so the motor fights all the time.
As a budget reel, I wouldn't waste my money. Shimano and Daiwa have budget sizes like the Shimano Plemio that's about $250.usd on amazon or the Shimano Plays series that are all under $500. Save a little longer and buy something from a company that is reliable and and has real specsthat match the product.
I have brought in 200lb grouper with the Tanacom 1000 from 500 feet so I expect nothing less from 1200. I would not buy that reel even if I was a recreational a angler. Jhonny Jigs has a nice assortment of the smaller daiwa electrics. I have owned the banax 7000cp small budget reel and it's junk. Burned out in 6 months with moderate use. This is just a suggestion from someone who went the budget route and got burned literally😂😂. Stick to the brands because they got it right. The Tanacom 1200 will literally last your entire life especially recreational anglers. Tight lines my friends🚤🌊🐟💯
@GPopeSinghTriniCharters1983 We are on our 3rd season with the first Kraken and fish it down to 1000' (not much line left) so far it's holding up well enough that we got another one. I have two 1200s as well but they are a lot heavier. I just don't have a smaller diawa to compare it too. So far we've been very happy with it. ALso I used a couple Diawa 1000s and that motor also continues to run when drag is going out. No difference there unless they changed it in the last year...

them batteries scare me, any one puts any pressure on them and they will crack the power socket on the reel..., you need the cable ones where the battery is velcro griped to the rod instead...
@MenCanNotBeWomen I understand the concern. This one comes with a shot 12" cable for just that. We may go to that in the future but the battery itself works great and makes the whole thing a lot more portable on the boat and stay's lightweight. I highly recommend it.
