To sum up this video and answer the question, is this the best electric reel? I would say that depends what you need an electric reel for. If you're deep dropping in less than 900 ft of water and don't plan on using more than a 8lb weight then I would say the Kaigen Banax 1000 is the best electric reel for deep dropping.
I also think the Banax 1000 is the best electric reel for wahoo trolling if you ever plan on wahoo trolling with an electric reel. I go high speed trolling solo sometimes and having the Kaigen Banax 1000 electric reel to help reel the fish in while I drive the boat is a huge help.
If you plan on daytime swordfishing dropping 10-12lbs of lead down 1500-1800ft then I don't think this electric reel is right for you. You will probably need to spend closer to $2000-5000 for an electric reel for swordfishing.
But if you're looking for a great priced electric fishing reel under $1000 or in this case the banax 1000 is under $700 and you don't plan on targeting 600lb swordfish down 1700ft then the Kaigen Banax 1000 is the best electric reel for you.
In this electric reel review video I will also show you how to use it. How to use an electric reel, the price, features, why I like it over other reels and where to buy the best electric reel.
Btw, the Banax 1000 is an electric fishing reel. Hopefully this has helped you in deciding on the best electric reel for deep dropping. If you have any questions about electric reels in general or the Kaigen Banax 1000 electric fishing reel in specific leave a question as a comment below this electric fishing reel review video!

You remind me of John Maxwell. He's got a Harley Davidson mechanic/motorcycle gear and bikes channel and his tag line is, "I'm a highly trained unprofessional." He has the same off-hand delivery and dry humor that makes you feel like you're sitting in the shop having a brew and shooting the shit. That's the kind of thing that makes people look forward to long-form videos. The videos where you want to inform or teach something are always short. I don't know if you do that on purpose or not, but it is absolutely perfect. As a former professional video producer for television, I am impressed by your style. It is subtle and I suspect you put more research into it than one might think.

Thanks for the great video. I just got back from Alaska and we used the 1000 everyday. We pulled up 40-100 pound Halibut for days on end. On the biggest Halibut it struggled a bit and did get hot but it preformed like a pro. The only thing I did not like was it measured in meters instead of feet. Not sure if that can be changed or not.
My guide told me he pays around $600 for them with his guide discount. Seems like a steal even for $650. We also used the Daiwa Tanacom 1000 a few times, but everyone in our group liked the BK-1000 the best. Another thing, I was amazed at how light this reel is. I have a few Miya Epoch reels that are literally 5 times or more heavier.

You can't beat the Banax for quality, price and service. There other more expensive reels on the market but if you are deep dropping for snappers, tile fish, Amberjacks, they can handle them. I have 5 on my boat, won't leave home without them 🎉

Heiko you inspired me to buy the Tanacom 1000 about a year ago. I love it and have not had a single issue with it. If I decide to purchase a second electric it will most likely be a Banex 1000. I love your videos and trust your opinion. I live up in Jax and deep drop territory is about a 100 to 120 mile ride one way. I have been pulling my boat to Lantana / Boynton to deep drop. It would be wonderful if you could do a technical video on the deep drop process. Most videos dont show more than fish floating up. Thanks for you and Caitlins vids!!! Be healthy and more please.

I think I was the one that told you about that rod and reel combo. Frigate Sales, Great to do business with. A really nice reel. What knot did you use to connect your top shot to your main ling? I have had great success with the FG knot. I hung up on a wreck once. I pulled a 27' Gradywhite around with that combo thinking a had a large grouper on. I finally had to wrap the line around a cleat to try to break it. Well, the FG knot held. A dropper loop broke. We also caught a white marlin with this combo!

My go to reel out of all the above is the shimano force master 9000 , a lot of power, a lot of smooth drag, quiet, fast , big line capacity, pulled about 10-11' shark from 700' deep, no issues. The banax 1000 is my next choice, half the price of the FM 9000 , big line capacity, smooth drag , not as quiet and fast as the FM 9000 , the rest are fine with the tanacom 1000 being the worst I've seen, the electric cord on all of them is a weak point, the question is not if the cord will fail, it is when it's going to fail. About $80-90 for the shimano cord, $ 45-55 for the banax , I suggest you buy an extra power cord when you buy a new reel, good luck fishing !
