Great session Sammy! How good is that in terms of species off the local too, very tasty mate. That transducer will make a huge difference in terms of your catch rate when deep dropping I reckon, the images already looked awesome in this video. Keep up the great videos legend!

Sammy, you may find over time unplugging and plugging in the tranny cables will create issue at the plug on the unit. Obviously you will no doubt change this, to something like a joining plug under the gunnel. Or possibly not unplugging it at all, and just storing it out of the way. Nice work and thumbs up to Robbie. :)

Great vid Sammie, watched it 11/9/2021 very appropriate as I was in Port Vila on a dive charter 20 years ago when the skipper yelled at me get out of the water get out of the water, thought a big noah was on my six. turns out the towers were hit. Had bought a huge flame tail for the dive crew to cook up that night from the markets so was great to see you catch one. love the content.

Epic fishing, and kudos for the new sonar. What would be ideal now is to get yourself a Boston Whaler Outrage 25 (feet that is) . Center console; the works. They are easily customizable. All the boat you’ll need, but you may want to get a 3/4 or 1 ton pickup, like an ‘03 or earlier Dodge with the 5.9 Diesel. You’ll never look back. 4 WD of course. An absolute ripper of a machine to match with the Outrage 25! Dream big as they say.

Hi mate, You can always use a thru hull transducer as your boat is fiberglass it sit nicely flush with your hull

Awesome catch mate but QLD should up the size limit on pink snapper so ya's can grow horses like we do in the West! That one was still a baby. Millions of them over here mate!

A question from a total novice - I have never fished more than 2-3km offshore: How do you pick your spots that are so far offshore? Do you check maps for ocean mounts or reefs to make a best guess as to where the fish will be and then obviously prepare your tackle according to what species you expect to find at those depths and area? Apologies if I am asking a question that crosses the line, just totally curious and would love to one day do some deep sea fishing.

Just a note from someone who has done deep water fishing in the North Sea. If you are a commercial operation and live from selling your catch, then motorized reels are standard. If you are a guy in a boat "fishing" for fun, then I don't see the fun.
Yes because retrieving a 10 lb weight from 3000 ft of water is a great idea.
