How to Start a Tribunal Claim with an ET1 Claim Form

Looking to start an employment tribunal claim but not sure where to begin? The first thing you’ll need to do is to complete an employment tribunal claim form called an ET1 form. It’s important to get the ET1 form right, as it’s the foundation of your entire claim. We give you helpful tips on what kinds of detail you should include, what you should leave out and whether you will need the help of a lawyer to complete the form. By the end of the video, you should have a better understanding of how to fill out the ET1 and get your employment tribunal claim underway.
This video is divided into three main parts:
Chapter 1 outlines what to include in the form, how much detail you need to give and what happens if you forget to include something really important or get your facts wrong.
Chapter 2 guides you on what not to include in the ET1 form, emphasising that the most important thing is to be brief. You will have a chance to write in greater length about what happened in your witness statement.
Chapter 3 considers whether you should get a lawyer to help you complete the ET1 form. It concludes that this would be the time to consider spending any budget that you might have for your tribunal on hiring a lawyer’s help, as the ET1 is such a critical part of your employment tribunal claim.
