    Excellent video! I wish I had seen this before I payed my garage to change the bulbs. They removed the front bumper and charged me 2 hours labour £90. I could of done this myself. Ah well live and learn. My standard Philips bulbs lasted 5.5 years and they were replaced with osram d3s. Hopefully they will last the same length of time and I'll be in a mk8 before they go.

Einzige was Du nicht gezeigt hast war wie man den Stecker von Scheinwerfer löst. Ich war ein bissel verwirrt aber hab es in kurze erledigt. In my 2014 Golf, the right side was easy, but on the left side I struggled to pull the bumper aside. I almost broke it down pulling with 2 hands many times, but it didn't want to release. Then (after almost giving up) I noticed a black plastic 10mm hex nut. That was holding the bumper and the fender so close together, that the clips didn't release. This 10mm hex nut is not mentioned in any guide, not even in the official Osram guide (when they replace xenon with LED headlights, where they show the tools and screws needed in the process)

    • @death3443
      @death3443  Před rokem +2

      Hi! and thank you for the replay and insight. Thats interesting - you are the second person I got that information from. After reading about that and looking it up on VW Erwin (an official website with all the dealer information) i found out that that particullar hex screw was sometimes used when the car came in for service and there was a complaint about "not perfect fitting" between the bumper and the fender. Its basicly some sort of workaround from VW.
      Have a nice day!

      That Golf from the Video had the top spec headlight with dynamic light assist, but yes, every xenon headlight with in the mk7 range uses the d3s bulbs, doesent matter if its the low xenon without corneringlight, the mid xenon with corneringlight, or the DLA typ. For the halogen corneringlight (H7) inside all xenon headlights, that turns on when you set the indicator or take corners under 50km/h you dont need to remove the headlights :)

    • @death3443
      @death3443  Před 5 lety +3

      If you are looking for overall performance yet still maintain a nice cold blueish looking colour, maybe the coolblueintense are what you are looking for. Cool Blue Boost are still fine in dry conditions and they do look great - here in germany right now its winter and allways wet and you do loose visibility with that shiny cool blueish lights. Compared to both coolblueboost and intense, the x-treme visions are yellowy looking. Better then stock oem lights tho.
      If you decide to get one from osram dont be dissapointed at first - give them a good week to burn in :)
      Good looks with less performance - CBB
      still nice white with good performance - CBI
      yellowish with good performance - Xtr-Vision

    • @death3443
      @death3443  Před 4 lety

      they do adjust themself to weight shifting and changing, based on a set calibration level which can be to low from factory. It's called "Grundeinstellung" inside the light controllmodul. This sets the zeroed point which is used for readjusting around that point while accelerating or loading the car.
      (at least for the european market)
      It's never a bad decision to change the factory xenon bulbs. They are "good" but nothing more then that. If you want good looks and better performance I would recommend the Osram CoolBlue Intense or Phillips Xtreme Vision.

      Hello Sir, it depends. VW used 3 different Headlight Variants for them Xenon Headlights (atleast here in the EU) The low spec Xenons use halogen DRL, the mid (cornering lights) and high (dynamic light assist) spec Headlights use the U-Shape DRL in LED technoligy.
      In my case - i got the top trim high spec, so everything else, except the indicators are already LED´s.
      In general, yes you only need the D3s Bulbs.

      Cheers, the tape shows the headlight allignment. Because when you loosen the bolts to the headlamp there is quite some play to it when you mount it back. Those lines can help to correctly position the unit itself. While not beeing 100% i do suggest to go to VW to make a new allignment, otherwise there could be a possible blinding threat to oncoming traffic.

  • @LDantinhas
    @LDantinhas Před 5 lety +2

    When you have to almost dismantle the whole car just to change a light bulb, to me is a proof of a very very bad design from the car maker. Want exemples? Ford Mondeo mk3 you take just 2 vertical pins out and the headlight comes off: very good design. Saab 93 (my car) you can change all the bulbs without taking headlight off very good design. VW Golf you need a garage, a bunch of tools, unscrew bumper, front grill, then take headlight off, 1 work hour and a lot of sweat VERY BAD DESIGN...

    • @death3443
      @death3443  Před 5 lety +1

      I get your point, but anyway, Xenon headlights are known to last 5-7 years with normal usage. You can do it a little bit easy without removing all the stuff i did here. Jack the car up remove the front inner fenderliner and you get easy acces from the back. My car is lowered and not that easy to jack up with my trusty old floorjack so i went this way.
      Anywho, this video is ment to help those who dont want to pay the dealer for that kind of work (they remove the complete bumper).
      The Golf with halogen headlights got easy access on the other hand (written by Law). VW just doesnt want everyone fiddling arround with Xenon bulbs because they can, if handled careless, hurt bad.
      I changed Headlights and bulbs throughout almost every car company and the only one that I like the most are Volvos (the older ones). Pull two pins and voilá you got yourself a headlight. Great design. But the newer ones V60 2016 are just as much pain to change then the golf ... they just dont want normal people doin that.
