How To Install BMW Motorsport Door Handles on BMW E36 M3

- I finally ordered a pair of BMW Motorsport door handles for my E36 M3, now it’s time to install them. If you’ve never changed the door handles on an E36 before, you’re lucky because it is not fun at all, lol!
The part numbers for the door handles are: 51218199921 & 51218199922
Remember, to order these from BMW you have to provide proof that you own your car. If you don't, they won't sell you the handles cuz they think you're trying to change the locks on someone else's car, lol!

It's not working while the bolts from the window that are the Allen bolts don't fit to lift the window out unless the window has at least 1 and 1/2 inches of play.Good luck when the bolts from the Allen screws won't fit.

Haha. Mannn, I'll be honest, the first one was terrible. The second one was finished in about 2 hours. If you can make it past the first one, you're in the clear! lol

I actually haven't replaced the window trim. It's one of the only trim pieces I've yet to replace, lol.

Order them from BMW! I believe I have the part numbers in the comments somewhere. Basically, give them the part numbers, your vin and proof of ownership...wait about two weeks and your gtg!

Dude, it's not easy. I have a buddy that said they bought a used set and had to somehow get the lock mechanism out of the old and into the new. He said it was a GIANT pain.

Where did you source the handles?
You can actually still order them through BMW. Part numbers 51218199921 & 51218199922. The only thing is you have to bring the title or prove ownership of the car since the handles have locks made for your specific car.

I called a couple dealerships and they say it's NLA here and germany. You just got them this summer though? Did you need to ask anything specific to the dealership?
@@JS-oi5jt Oh really? Yeah, last summer 2018. In fact, it only took about 1.5 week to get to me. Now that I think about it, I think my BMW dealer said something about none being in stock so they had no clue when they'd get to me. But they mark them like that in inventory because you have to give them your VIN so they can key the locks to your car. That would suck if they were NLA!
But happened by because I have such an amazing 2003 525I 175k miles $3,500. Ihe beautiful. You are such a hard worker....I think it's a bad bad car bugs. 250k!!! You will have to fix that at the end..odometer 1 new car. ;*)

Yo! I'm still here! We've had delay after delay on the motor swap which is the next thing on the list. Just got word today that the shop will be ready next Tuesday for it though, I'm stoked! I gotta make a vid soon on all the parts I've gathered for the swap!
