    So for anyone referencing this video which is probably the best in terms of clear videoing of the various parts in the door. Right at the 3min mark you bring attention to the the “arm” on the door handle which regularly should be pulling on the door latch to allow for proper unlocking of the door, what many people fail to recognize is is that the reason most of these door handles fail in the first place is because when the handles were made they once had a plastic bushing around the arm pin making the arm thicker for less distance to travel in the hook lack that it rides in . once upon a time it had a white plastic surround which increased its diameter which allowed for quicker engagement contact with the latch. If you rally wish to perfect the door handle then you must actually remove it before it break eventually again lol sorry to tel you bud. Since by this time almost every e36 I’ve owned or worked on has the same common issue with the door handles this arm overtime deteriorated and the plastic spacer shell that was around the arms pin broke off and it isn’t really talked about since 99% of the guys never knew it was there to begin with! A quick easy remedy solution I have been doing for a number of years is get yourself some silicone nitro rc fuel tubing. Cut yourself a small piece just large enough to cover the arm pin and you were prolong the life of the replacement door handles and hopefully never repeat the repair a second time. Without that bushing I’m afraid to tell you guys that it’s only a matter of time for your replacement to break once more! Now if anyone needs handles hitme up😊

      Hmm funny enough I just was doing this again yesterday, since I haven’t done it in like 8 months I needed a refresh, but I totally see what you mean that the rubber grommet at the end of the arm will make the action smother. I reinforced the whole arm with jB weld hopefully it holds up good this time. I never could get the lock to work, the new key tumbler won’t turn the mechanism..

      @@mrvanable it’s not about making it smoother but about getting the lever to engage sooner. When that bushing goes missing we are forced to super extend the handle when attempting to open the door from the outside and that’s what causes the handles to self destruct over time
      And rekeying the locks are super easy. I’m not sure why your having trouble with the tumbler but if you need further assistance I can walk you thru it over the phone or something

    My e36 is a 98. The door handle has 3 electrical connections, should they still work the same if I get another door handle from a e36 that has the 3 connections or are these specific to the chip in the key??

    • @alexkichigin
      @alexkichigin  Před 2 lety

      So the connections don’t actually have any effect on the door opening or closing. I believe their there for when you hold the key in the lock or open position the windo opens or closes with the sunroof. Actually some of mine just ripped out and the doors works fine.

      Central locking doesn’t work completely, when I lock the drivers door my trunk locks with it, but not the passenger door. When I lock the passenger door it locks the drivers door and trunk. When I lock/unlock by trunk it doesn’t affect either doors. I’ve really let her go😬
