Poker is not gambling. It is just labeled as gambling. But it is a skill game. That´s why good players earn money longterm and bad players do not.

yea, as a poker player I can tell you maths is rly important in poker, but he definitely haven´t made million because of maths :D He just got lucky in important spots and tournaments, he´s a really, really lucky boy :)
What part of maths is important specifically?
Counting your precentage of getting needed cards for example on the river, making call based on pot odds etc. Math is really important in poker, but being great at math doesn´t mean you´ll be profitable. This guy obviously was very lucky hitting a huge score in a tournament.. Like he said, I gambled and it payed of..

The best poker players are 'maths geniuses' because they understand and apply game theory extremely well.
They are not 'maths geniuses' because they know odds, can add and multiply etc. These are very easily learned and there are tons of software programs that do this.
To be extremely reductive - and of course by analogy - Einstein wasn't a great mathematician because he could do sums in his head, it was his understanding and application of theories and his ability to articulate them.
But poker is not pure maths, it is about reading people as well. Maths can help you to an extent.
The best three players of recent times are Phil Ivey, Dan Negreanu and Tom Dwan. Best heads up player is Jungleman. None of those guys are maths geniuses with Maths degrees; it's about the way they approach the game. Negreanu has said his weakness is the maths part, however he compensates by having the best reading abilities in the game. Dwan is the maddest bluffer, Ivey plays every hand pretty much the same and gives no tells.

Does anybody know the maths that would go into being good at poker? I feel like the only mats that one can apply to poker is calculating the odds of a certain card coming up, pot odds, the chances a person has a certain hand (and maybe deduce the probability of someones hand based on prior behavior during that hand).
That is basically it it’s not high level maths but applying it and not chasing bad draws is part of the skill

Best way to prove poker isn't just luck is that it's always the same group of guys in the late stages of tournaments, don't play your cards, play the cards the guy has opposite you 😊

You also can't work long hours every day, without being burnt out, so look after your own health as well.
I'd say not to get greedy as well, with the money he has already, he could earn a normal income from renting out property; so anything else is a bonus.

That's Black Jack aka '21', where a good memory rather than maths skill is frowned upon. This guy plays poker and uses probability to try and work out the realistic chance of his opponent having better cards than his rather than the traditional method of trying really hard to read the other person's face.
