It suits Sean's persona for him to be muttering things while shrouded in darkness (RIP)
His ghost is still doing it to this day.
Paul Foot's 'i know roughly' is one of the greatest burns of all time
that battle between John and Paul was better than most action films in the modern day i loved it lmao
Paul kills me every time when he says "by right that is my 2".
@@lukek5303 I feel like the funniest part is that there are two 2s meaning that there were enough 2s for each of them to have one lol
The look of horror on Alan's face when Rachel said 350.
Not the first thing he's buggered, I shouldn't think...
A full charisma bypass!!!!! I'm DYING!!!!! Yet another classic line from Jimmy
You cut out Paul Foot's best line ever... "But also, I haven't got a wife"...
Don't need a wife I've got numbers
*_Fast-forward to 2024..._*
Neither does Jon.
I was fully expecting jimmy to say, "well congratulations Harriet, but you weren't playing, sooo no points." It's a testament to how bad she usually is that he gave her the points.
Not from Britain so just curious who she is…
Who is this Harriet please?
@@TapDancerDood she's sean's daughter
@@calumsanderson6741 i thought that was just a joke... Isn't it?
It was a joke shes not really but one of the episodes she brought sean gifts for a joke so he sort of treated her like one on the show and she has dyspraxia
Dear channel 4. Please bring this show back. It’s the funniest thing on tv. I know that we lost the great Sean lock. But we need this show. I think that it would be great to have carol back as a contestant A numbers ringer for sure but still a beautiful and funny performer.
Yes! What fantastic ideas. Sean was the best so want them to do a tribute to him and Carol would be a great guest 👍🏻
Ohg yes, please bring back the show they absolutely demolished by choosing PC over funny...
I also think Sean would want the show to go on in his memory
@@reececollison5101 Sean doesn't care, he's dead.
Lee Mack would be great as well
“I don’t think my brain was given a fair chance.” - Johnny Vegas
The speech that Henning made is the most German thing I’ve ever heard. Lol.
German here: I agree, and i thought "what a buzzkill (Henning is)"... and i am fully aware that it is just his comedy persona ;)
Bless Harriett at the end lol
I'm so glad they gave her the points, she deserved them 😊
I loved it when she was on the show. Especially when she was on Sean's team and tried to bond with him. It was hilarious and endearing.
@@Mubashir_AK
Harriet: "Go Dad!"
Sean: "My children are not that supportive"
That's one of my favorites 😅
She's just adorable, like an overgrown child.
Henning Wehn going full German by setting an impossible bar for the show at the start.
13:11 Ahhh, Harriet Kemsley - simply adorable, and adorably simple... 🤗🥰
3:41 best reaction ever
I can't remember what happened at exactly 3.41. I wish I knew. Oh well. There's no way to find out.
Not too long ago, I watched one of these when they were playing for real, with no comedians. Playing 100% straight. It was a little freaky.
That's a different show, it's just called Countdown. This is a spoof of that, Countdown came first.
@@14768 oh, a joke
To be fair, I have to pause EOOTCDC during the numbers section so that I can solve it without the distractions, then unpause and watch the distraction. I have no idea how they ever even get close with that stuff going on.
@@iambicpentakill971 Took me a while to realise what 'EOOTCDC' was for - I just call it CatsDown...
What's 17 million divided by 4 thousand?
I don't know, do you know?
Roughly? I know it roughly.
Ok but that song actually goes hard tbh 😂😂
Love it when Joe was playing the assistant
I always wonder how many of those cheap brown suits he owns!
@@bradleynoneofyourbizz5341 One - and he never washes it...
Rachel's reaction to 100*25 was priceless
Rest in peace Sean Lock. My sincere overdue condolences to the family for your loss :-(
RIP Sean. You have brought laughter to me.
This is such a fun game show, just love every bit of it.
Lol as he said cue the music, an ad for a Godfather mobile game started playing, and I the timing was amazing
They didn't include Catherine Tate's amazing maths round? I feel robbed.
Stop saying it like it's obvious
(Oh is that what you do)..... with Lee sitting beside her pissing himself lol
101.
Sssssseven
Anyone else pause it to try and work them out?
all the time, and always longer than 30 seconds.
Me 2
As do I
When I'm out of practice, I pause to try to do as well as I can, but I do try sometimes to get it in time.
In this video? I only had to pause once, for the 949 problem (incidentally, I came up with two solutions: (75 + 6 x 6) x 9 - 50 = 949 and 75 x 9 + (50 + 6) x 5 - 6 = 949), because it was such a short clip. But when watching the videos of the actual episodes, I don't pause them.
11:53 I just love this bit.
"It's that calm that you feel when you see like a meteor heading straight toward you. And you know you gonna die."
I just wanna know how he knows what that feels like...
Claudia kills me everytime haha
5:58 They left out the bit right after where Rachel is sad that she didn’t realize that 576 was 24 squared. 😆
Different episode mate
There was also a different set of 6 numbers
75 3 1 6 3 1
I managed that just
That's Numberwang!
Holy shit, I totally remember that Mitchell And Webb show - just now!...
10-6=4x50=200-7=193x5=965. Use the spare 9 to give yourself a foot massage. Absolutely thrilled to have gotten that.
I did degree level maths as part of my engineering course. For doing arithmetic I always used a calculator as the hard thing was undertaking computer programmes to solve finite elements analysis problems.
"... 350..."
legend xD
The kazoo really makes the Brett Domino Trio's song.
OMG!!! Count Down is so kool esp the last bit... That Woman Smashed IIIT!!!
Harriet Kemsley, yeh...
How dare you not include Catherine Tate's 101 failure?!?
Is on the "How low can you go" video that should be out soon
"You're laughing like it's OBVIOUS!"
@@bradleynoneofyourbizz5341 "Why do you always come to me first?"
Probably because that one wasn't funny?
@@jackeea_ I'd like to agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong
Wrong to do, but Harriet is sooo cute when she got points for doing the maths in a round she wasn't even playing. And she *IS* cute; the good kind. 😽
Why 'wrong to do'? You said everything right...
They were so far behind, it didn't even matter. Note even Sean didn't complain.
That song was actually good
Concatenation is when you you combine two numbers together side by side. eg. 7&50=750. I think it would be entertaining to see it added to cats does countdown.
9:58 Shaun doing his best Heisenbeg from Breaking Bad impression!
Rachel is a legend
Gotta include the one where the board displayed the goal of 666. Classic.
I've got a new catch phrase thanks to Claudia .. "I can't do it!"
Nah - it actually goes 'AAAAAGH I CAN'T DO IT!!!'...
That last one was a misstep from Carr. First he insults the poor girl (which I get he does a lot with the self aware less bright comics) and then you can visibly see him panic and choose to double down when she succeeded by implying it wasn't that hard anyway.
Some brilliant comedic moments
Genius 😆😆😆😆😆
I wish I could find a cut of the version of the countdown music used at 2:03
6:00 there's another cool method for this one as well. Big boi multiplication at the end ((7+3)×5×2-4)×6
It's a perfect square of 24. So you just need to get two 24s and multiply them. 6*4 and 7*3+(5-2)
The most depressing thing in this was sarah "putting the 9 in front of the 50" but then somehow not being able to make a 1 from the rest of the numbers for the 949.
I don't think I've ever felt as smart as I did when I worked out 965 from 11:53.
How'd you get it?
I got 1 away and gave up:
50+7-6= 51
10+9= 19
51*19 = 969
minus 5 = 964
Imagine being in Oxford maths class. Paul is on one side and Rachel on the other? What a funny classroom
Sean will always be part of this show 🙂
Brett Domino ftw!
0:10 - 3:51 what is this episode?
5:36 Game answer
7+5= 12
6+2= 12
Multiply both = 144 x 4 = 561
6:35 Game answer
25x7 = 175
+10 + 2 = 187
Multiply 187 with 3 = 561
7:39 Game answer
100x2= 200 ----(1)
8x6 =48
6+4=10
Minus = 38 ----(2)
Minus (1) by (2) = 162
Erm...since when is 144 x 4 561 - it's 576!
@Gains Bond I messaged up. Must be high on screen then.. thanks for pointing out lol.
@Gains Bond oh man! I just saw the video. It's 576 which is the right answer. Must be a typo! Thanks for correcting actually!
Loved it when Sean & Miles were getting told off by Alan ...& Miles said Sean mentioned Hitler..lol ....& Miles said 'I'm on the fence ' ..lol
I want to see Harriet on Taskmaster.
Holy shit she would be a riot. I'm all for it! It would have been magnificent if Sean was able to join her as a dynamic duo. :(
Wow, I never realised numbers could make me laugh at 00:30 in the morning
Every time Jimmy Carr says did you get it it reminds me of two comedians not knowing what the joke punchline is.
Hey Sean did you get it I didn't even know the joke.
😂😂😂
Awww Sean :(
Why does Paul even take back his 2? Would have been even funnier, if he just said "well, I got another 2 left, so I'll just take that one" :-D
When he said "you don't have a girlfriend do you paul?" and he said "no I don't" it sounded so much like that garage song. "Do you smoke Paul?" "No I don't" "I DONT SMOKE THE REEFA"
Richard smashed it
Some bret domino..
😝
"624"
"Fuck"
lmao
5:17 Wow, Vick Reeves showing how great and original comedian he is by recycling a joke from a 1998 Noel Edmunds Gotcha.
I love Harriet
Alternate solution of the answer of 579.
While using the Numbers: 100,50,5,10,4,5
Step 1: 50 ×10=500
Step 2: 5×5=25
Step 3: 100-25=75
Step 4: 500+75+4= 579
You can also multiply directly to 575 with this:
100 + 10 + 5 = 115
115 x 5 = 575
575 + 4 = 579
Rachel still pregnant, Sean still alive...
@Fizzy Duh, that's what he meant - back when she was, and he was, as opposed to nowadays!
10:20, can do 75x√100-6x5
A cousin of my bosses greengrocer has seen Claudia Winkleman without her wig.
2:11 I've got it. I'm going to be annoyed if they don't.
I've just noticed how much Paul Foot looks like Dudley Moore.
I want the same calculator home...
I love "Hairy Vein.!!!"
@ 13:14 -- Why did Jimmy tell what'sherface that she's not a duvet?
He said (to Harriet Kemsley!) "you're not actually playing"
whens the new series?
They've filmed some I think because Rachel posted on her Insta a while back. But I guess Sean's passing made a difference.
Thank God for CZcams as we don't have witty shows like this in 'Merica.
Seriously.
@Seiyuan Lin Well, John DID get the target number, after all!
Rip Sean.
Claudia could've used Vic's method on the 576.
Joe ia a legend
560=25²-4³-1 and that's the simplest solution I found in my head.
If you were allowed to square of cube youd be right, still clever nonetheless 👏
@@LavaFountain I'll do you one better:
576=(4*6)²
And I just realized they said later in the video that usually it's not allowed to put the given numbers as exponents, but come on, where is the fun in that.
@@masterofdesaster8 true, I definitely like your solutions better than any of the legal ones, well played 👏
2nd one -> (25 +3) x (4 squared = 16 +2+1+1 = 20) -> 28 x 20 = 560 ? 3rd one -> I had a different solution (5x2)x(7+3)= 100 -4 = 96 x 6
The first solution isn't allowed under the _Countdown_ rules. It has no exact solution if you apply the rules. The closest you can get is 561: (25 x 2 + 1) x (4 x 3 - 1) = 561. The rule against squares and cubes is even discussed in the clip with Richard Ayoade's solution for 950, and he actually had the numbers on the board to do it with.
Sean is sorely missed ...R I P
3:54 for 560 with 25, 1, 1, 2, 3, 4 I got it after like 15 minutes.
4^(3+1)= 256
256+25-1= 280
280x2 = 560
Well that’s enough math for the year
Can't use powers, only + - x and ÷...
How can one pull anything out of the bag *and* on the fly?
It would be an interesting game if they allowed concatenation and exponentiation.
Sean lock was funny A F 👍🔥
phil looks good in that last clip idk
Jon HATED this match up!
6:00
2×3=6
6×6=36
5+4+7=16
16×36=576
Pic Ayoade pencil drop.
5:50 5*3=15
15+2+7=24
4*6=24
24*24=576
How long until the new series?
Are they carrying on with it after Seans passing?
@@Twisted_RC it's still a popular show - there were multiple episodes without Sean, so they could find a replacement.
Not cancelled and not renewed as of this post. I have no idea what channel 4 is thinking.
I think we're dead, Jimmy.
5 concatenate 7 concatenate 6
Yeh, I thought that as well...
6:10 (5^4)-(7^2)=576
11:54 (7+9)*10*6+5 = 965
576 = 24^2
(5+7)*2 and 4*6
It’s refreshing to hear someone argue against allegations of racism that doesn’t resort to racism themselves.
If you want to square and cube things you should've worked in a fucking jelly factory
How dare they change the music to the countdown clock? What right do they have to do that.
Wait until you hear Sean’s music that he brought with him as a mascot once.
That 579 answer was super easy. 50x10=500, 500+100=600, 5x5=25, 600-25=575, 575+4=579
100+10+5 =115, 115x5 = 575, 575+4 =579
