  • @ScarlettM
    @ScarlettM Před 2 lety +20

    Makes sense: first they stole stuff at random and when it was something valuable, people would try to lure the monkey with food and get it to drop the item. After a couple of years, the monkeys learned that if you take this particular item, human will give you food. Unintentional basic animal training. It would probably work with many other animals -dogs, cows, crows.

    • @astropgn
      @astropgn Před rokem +7

      It is probably way more complex than just basic training. Training is a learning process, but it is very deliberate and direct, which is guided only by the actions of the trainer. This, however, was also a learning process but one that required the animals to figure it out for themselves. They had a model of reality to make associations between actions and outcomes. There was no training, it was all learning. They learned that they can't destroy the objects, otherwise the trade becomes less frequent. They learned that they have to release the item after they get what they want. And most important of them all: New generations are learning from observing their parents doing it. With "basic animal training" you never rely on observation, you rely just on action plus reward.
