If you shoot it down the right hole you can even still loot it. Lol
Launching it down the middle hole doesn't always give you experience unless you enter the combat before she hits the ground. This doesn't matter for Repelling Blast, but it's important to note for when using arrows of rolling thunder.
how do you get down that hole safely?

Another solid strategy is to burn the web bridges out from under her. Takes a healthy chunk of fall damage and you still have to fight her but it’s a lot easier.
Hell yeah, that moment is when I realize that this game really wants you to consider your surroundings and use it to your advantage. This stuff is rare for RPGs (I don't know if it's possible in DnD to do this, I never played tabletop)

@@masgaz9748 Yeah, there is a way to cheese pretty much every boss in Act1 in a similar manner. I dont know about later acts. You become way more powerful, so there is less need to cheese.
@@bleeem As someone who doesn’t play D&D and this is my first real experience with something thats essentially a video game adaptation of it, it takes awhile to get used to the flexibility the game gives you.
I.E. killing a certain boss in a relatively close by location from this particular fight without realizing you can use the environment and getting an achievement for doing so.
Don’t even need to burn it. Pretty much any damage type works

If you think that using basic game mechanics is cheesing, then this is the wrong game for you. The whole point of the combat in this game is to come up with 'clever' stuff like this. Unless maybe if you are a noob that plays on balanced. In that case, you don't have to think at all. You can just rush into battle and spam some random abilities.

This is my 1st D&D video games too, but I do realize this is different than cheesing, since after killing the boss, I don't get the message "Boss Slain" or "Soul Collected".. this game actually treats every enemy the same! So.. its their level design fault that they can easily killed when we meet them..
..and in turn, it is so realistic!? Now I envy everyone who ever play D&D before 😅 so much creativity... so much freedom.
The raw ability to just shove anything around like its a football is very powerful

Edit: I started a new playthrough and now you can't push the spider in the hole, she just teleports back :(.
Honestly, except for poison users, her loot isnt ‘that’ good, robes with + poison damage :).

Just use paladin sure you need to blow up your cooldowns but if you made your build right, boss should just die or be almost dead after your rotation (burning web when spider is above hidden paladin also helps :D )
Feather fall and jump down after her, you will get the loot!
I fought it yesterday and she used her warp ability into the chasm on accident and ended the fight once I killed the little spiders.

If you want it's loot, it rly likes to chill on its webs, shoot them with fire, it loses 1/3 hp each fall. Also if you throw it down the hole in the middle, you can featherfall into it behind it and loot it in the underdark :3
So far my favorite thing about this game is that I’ve dropped like 250 hours into it and have never seen this spider.

I have done several playthroughs up to act 3 now just because I feel like I’ve missed so much content. It’s amazing how much new I discover each and every time.

If you don't have Eldritch Blast, you can burn the cobweb bridges the spider stands on which deals like 30-40 dmg each time it falls.
Yeah I think it takes a bunch of extra fall damage
@@dieguy3080Yeah that’s the gimmick of the fight iirc, if you straight up fight the spider without the strat in the vid or don’t use the fall damage the fight is ungodly amounts of difficult.
@@fhantum6519 Yeah it takes massively increased fall damage and if you can knock it down the central hole it's instant GG. If you want to do an honest fight though all you really need it the owlbear spear and a little aoe for the adds.

You can still get it by using Feather Fall and jumping down the hole yourself.

OFC you can. Never said you couldn't. Cheats exist for a reason, even in games (not this one) whose sole purpose is to be a pain in the ass to players (EldenR, DarkS, DarkestD, etc). Having fun always come first, no matter the cost (but then don't come asking for respect from the vanilla players).
Fun fact: Sovereign Glut can reanimate the matriarch’s corpse in the Underdark. Live out your dreams of terrorizing the realms below with a giant undead spider minion!
If you want the loot (robe that increases poison damage) - burning the web is also solid strategy.
I had Astarion assassinate the smaller spiders and flee from combat immediately 3 times in a row to clear the area from mobs, and also used aoe arrows to destroy eggs, then brought everyone where Warlock is in this vid, surprise attack round and last moment before she can take the first turn - burn the web. Still had to take some damage, but got it done and got the loot and xp fairly easily.

I was sickened, yet curious.
This is the one by far straight to the point, no bullshit and just show you how to get things done video.
I did this on accident, completely unaware of my
invocation, in our first run ever, and we were wheezing laughing.
"WARLOCK, WHAT THE FUCK?!? IT HAD LOOT ON IT"

Even more satisfying; I managed to knock it down the chasm using Pushing Attack w/ my Battlemaster Fighter. Shit felt like a "THIS IS SPARTA" moment xdd
I'm fairly sure you can find the corpse when you enter the underdark too.
You can also cast feather fall and jump in after it.
Here is the problem with that: You need to push the Spider in the Middle Hole (The Green one)! If you push it in dark spaces, you won't find it! I tested this myself!
I did the same thing completely by accident via smokepowder barrel + Minor Illusion + Firebolt ambush. Launched it from the entrance to that room all the way to the back wall, which the spider hit with some velocity, before plummeting to the underdark.
Throwing black powder barrels is the certified barbarians repelling eldritch blast.
The knock back arrows are a good option as well.😊
Best thing is to do this, then jump down with featherfall and go see the "evil" mushroom guy and he can reanimate her and you can use her to destroy everything in the Underdark as well.

I saw the word Warlock and knew exactly where it was going
I stole a barrel of gunpowder from goblins and used a stealth character to sneak the barrel up to her. The character was spotted last second but got a good initiative, so he threw a fire flask to detonate the barrel and she just got yeeted into the chasm and I was laughing so much. I was trying to kill her with the explosion but she just flew away and I never saw her again.
Ah yes, the "Dark Souls" approach: just push it into bottomless pit.
Doesn't just work on spiders, works on damn near everything, it's the 47 of spells

Lmao that's exactly how I killed it when I played with friend. We (me as warlock and him as rogue) were low lvl for the boss, so we were discussing some tactic and I was like
"Alright, alright. Let's go to the stealth mode and I'll slap it with an EB first."

in my last two runs i cast minor illusion on the webs next to the hole and the spider teleported in it and instantly died
If you push her into the green pit you can find her corpse in the underdark and get the loot. Plus then Glut can raise her as a minion

there is another way everyone can do.
at the bottom there is a big hole in the middle, the hole got a spiderweb.
you just need to sneak on this web or cast an illusion on it and get the big spider on the web.
when the spider got on the web you can easily destroy the web with anything.

You can always push a boss off a ledge, but then you can't loot them. Kinda defeats the purpose slightly, now pushing them into an explosive barrel completely fine.
It's how I took out Cazador in his gaseous form...
If you push her into the big green pit in the center of the ring you can feather fall down and get the loot :)

It took me a few attempts but I used a scroll of invisibility on gale and had him thunderweave her into the hole

I literally did it not on purpose in my first playthrough, but with a explosive barrel, that I threw on the spider and the floor below it was already on fire.

This was one of the only bosses I had trouble with and died to, but I didn’t wanna yeet it off a cliff cuz I was worried I would miss its loot. Then I saw a bunch of people online saying that it’s ok, you can, you’ll just find it’s body to loot later in the underdark. But I never did.

Only if you knock it into the center hole. You lose the loot if you send it down this one. The robe you get from it isn't that big a deal though.

Burn the web bridges to strand her on an "island, and then cycle bowshots and stealth with your rogue until dead.
Keep everyone else disengaged and out of the fight entirely.
She'll just sit there, not knowing where to go, and take it.
I did that as the last hit on accident. I was so pissed that i reloaded. I'm not leaving without loot.
Did you reload and knock it off the edge again when you realized the loot was just the Poisoner's Robe?
It's also why I, and my players, NEVER use Disintegrate on enemies (in tabletop. Not sure if BG3's Disintegrate still makes enemies drop loot), since it ALSO disintegrates whatever equipment and items the target is carrying. XD

Better yet use eldritch blast to kill all of the eggs. If your out of sight it can’t hear you. You even get an achievement
