    Cruyff was a revolutionary for Barça .
    He arrived in Catalonia in the 70s as a player and won the league .
    He also led Barcelona to their first UCL in the 90s as a manager.
    The Catalan faithful felt Cruyff had done more for them in one year than any other politician before.
    Also the tiki taka we enjoy from Barcelona is also due to Cruyff.
    A true legend .
    RIP Johan ....

      You might like it as a foreigner, but here in Spain it's a matter to be taken very seriously. I've observed many non-spanish people defend this movement, but they don't understand the magnitude of this. Cataluña has never been an independent country, you can look it up in Spanish History, although it is true they have their own language and similar traditions. Nevertheless, our 1978 Consitution, which was signed after Franco's death and was agreed by all citizens, clearly states that no territory in our country can part away from Spain, as the land is common property to all of us. During the last 25 years of the 20th century, a group inside the Basque Country killed more than a thousand people, including Basques, to proclaim their independence. The truth is that an equal part of Basques/Catalonian feel Spanish, as portrayed in the ilegal referendum which was held, and these people have been frowned upon constantly and discriminated for feeling Spanish. All in all, these independence (and communist, but that's another story, although there are parties inside our government who have declared their only ambition is to bring Spain down) movements are tearing our country, like it happenned 80 years ago during our Civil War. It's actually sad that something so highly respected as football in our country gets mixed up with politics. I really hope people from outside our country stop regarding this as a beautiful history lesson, it's actually devastating.

      @@alvaro5834 In the 10th century the County of Barcelona became progressively independent from Frankish rule. In 1137, Ramon Berenguer IV, Count of Barcelona accepted King Ramiro II of Aragon's proposal to marry Queen Petronila, establishing the dynastic union of the County of Barcelona with the Kingdom of Aragon, creating the Crown of Aragon, while the County of Barcelona and the other Catalan counties adopted a common polity known as Principality of Catalonia,[3] which developed an institutional system (Courts, constitutions, Generalitat) that limited the power of the kings. Catalonia contributed to the expansion of the Crown's trade and military, most significantly their navy. The Catalan language flourished and expanded as more territories were added to the Crown of Aragon, including Valencia, the Balearic Islands, Sardinia, Sicily, Naples, and Athens.

The supporter that appears in 2:21 is Manolo el del Bombo (spanish for Manolo of the Big Drum), and he is the most charismatic supporter our national team has. During the days when Piqué was being constantly booed, Manolo was one of the most prominent figures in television asking for these boos to stop and to keep calm amongst other supporters. MrISkater In fact, the distinctions he talks about, the first was after the 1951 Cup final in which Barça won 0-3 against Madrid in their stadium. The president, people say euphoric and drunk, gave him a gold badge that he wore in his jacket. The other was in 1971 for the opening of the Palau Blaugrana. In any case, the distinctions do not appear as officials in the club's archives and in fact, there was talking of withdrawing them but it is impossible to withdraw a distinction that is not official, which is like it would never have been done. it seems that he tries to say that Franco also helped Barcelona when it is totally false, he hurt the club and he tried to steal his identity. It is true that he approved the construction of the stadium of Les Corts and the Palau Blaugrana but it was only for the mere interest of fueling a rivalry with Madrid that he knew was beneficial for him and for football that he used for political reasons and does not take away everything which he did especially in the years after the war. Everyone knows and it is a fact that his team was Real Madrid and that it was also the team he used as a political propaganda medium. Franco didnt even like football.

In other countries you would find people hating each other but strictly for reasons of passion for their club, on Spain I get the feeling that they just hate the region from where the club comes.

    FC Barcelona's nationalist position is risky, due to the fact that they have supporters all around Spain, moreover, their our home, Camp Nou, is 50/50 when it comes to Catalonia's independence.
    And just a little funny fact: la 'Guerra de SucesiĂłn' (they call it, wrongly, 'SecesiĂłn') was a war between Borbons crown and Austrias, not one between Spain and Catalonia, as they say it was; Catalan nationalist claim that when Brobones won that war, we lost all our autodetermination, which we had under the control of Austrias. Nothing further from reality. I could explain all about that war, but I don't think you guys are intersted in that :D. Just wanted to give a little fact.

    • @boxatobo
      @boxatobo Pƙed 5 lety +10

      @@s.correa9370 of course, but those supporters have to understand why Barça's idiosyncrasy is like that. You can be Spanish and support Barça (of course!!) but if the catalans want to vote or something like that I think they have to respect it.

    • @s.correa9370
      @s.correa9370 Pƙed 5 lety +18

      28ek, oh, boy, what you have to understand is that catalans don't want anything. You cannot say that catalans want independece, neither you can say that catalans want to remain, basically because catalan society is broken in two, 50% (in which I am included) feel as spanish as catalans, the other 50% wants independence.

      @@mikespearwood3914 I feel like the FFF would jump on that as soon as they could if it became a possibility. I mean when you look at it in terms of geographical location, Barcelona is quicker to get to from Toulouse, Montpellier & Marseille than it is from Madrid and the distance from Barcelona to Seville isn't that much less than Barcelona to Lille. Plus you'd probably end up with a fairly similar rivalry (albeit not as deep) with PSG as they have with Real and it'd be a massive cash injection for French football. I don't see the RFEF willingly allowing Barcelona to walk though considering what they bring financially to the league and how important the Real/Barca rivalry is to the global football landscape. It is an interesting thought to consider though.

A brand as big as Barcelona wouldn't be turned down and wouldn't be any harder to play in than La Liga. Maybe easier as Ligue 1 already have a club from outside France (Monaco) playing there. So all the different taxation rules, etc are things they're already used to dealing with.
    It's obviously not ideal for the club but if it were to happen, I could see Ligue 1 jump at the chance.
