My journey with Bangtan Boys is turning out to be more and more amazing. Only a few days ago I listened to BTS BLACK SWAN for the first time and I would have expected everything except a song so beautiful and different from the norm. What surprised me, however, was not only this song of theirs but in particular one of the members: Jimin.
I've never seen a dancer like him. His talent for dance is undeniable and impressed me from the first moment. Many of you suggested me to watch JIMIN BLACK SWAN dance only performance behind the scene to be able to better admire his artistic skills and you were totally right.
JIMIN in Black Swan left me speechless. I've never seen a dancer like him. His movements are fluid and clean. It makes everything seem so easy even if it isn't at all. The position of his feet really struck me because I have only seen real professional ballet dancers position them that way. Truly an incredible talent.

For me Jimin is so brilliant because of the tension he holds between opposites. Delicate and strong, staccato and fluidity, elegance and power, light yet impactful. Beauty and masculinity, sharp and ephemeral. Added to that he seems to slow down time when in the air. So that he almost defies gravity.

That's a really good description and I think it's part of why he's so fascinating to so many people. He exists in the tension between things we think we understand.
I love to watch him dance. There are other very good dancers - J-Hope is astoundingly good too - but Jimin's fluidity and expression is what I really love. Being so graceful and so powerful at the same time - and, in this one, going from carefully controlled to deliberately off balance to tell the story. It's so beautiful.

In one BTS documentary I watched, a well-known Korean dancer expressed how sad he was that Jimin chose to be "an idol" instead of continuing his career as a classical dancer. He said, "I just think that the dancing world has lost a great artist!" But I think that Jimin has merely taken his brilliance to another and wider audience who would never have seen or enjoyed such quality dancing otherwise! JIMIN!!!!

That was his high school modern dance teacher. His dance teacher at first oppose the idea of Jimin wanting to debut as a K-pop idol because it was not easy to succeed in the harsh and brutal K-pop industry. But when Jimin passed the audition out of thousand people his teacher started to believe that Jimin do have the potential to be a K-pop star.

@@heystobeatingmymochi78 The video says that gentleman is Jimin's modern dance teacher, but I've seen that specific clip before elsewhere and instead he is identified as Jimin's home room teacher, not a modern dance teacher. That gentleman makes absolutely no mention of modern/contemporary dance, only expresses concerns about the difficulties of making it in the K-POP industry. So I do think it's more likely he was Jimin's home room teacher and not a dance teacher.

I was so excited to see you react to Jimin's solo dance behind the scenes of Black Swan. I love Jimin's contemporary dance style. He is so fluid and expressive not only with his face but with his hands and whole body, TBH. Now you'll have to listen to his voice, its ethereal. There is a acoustic version of Like Crazy that Jimin does and it's different from the MV. It's on Lee Mujin's show.
Jimin is a perfectionist, and the members all comment how much he practices, and that he is a hard worker. Suga said to Jimin, "If hard work is a talent, then you're a genius".
You noticed his feet' position, so you will notice that in many photos, his feet will be in a dancer's position.
All 7 members have their own talents and skills. As Suga says, they all have their own thing and respect what the others do. They respect each other's area of expertise.

At a certain point he asks to shoot the choreography scene again, even though he was tired, because he wanted it perfect. I really admire him for all the commitment he has shown!
Jimin’s way of dancing is fluid from the tips of his finger & hair to the tips of his fingers & toes. He is a fusion of modern, contemporary, hip hop etc. heightened by his visuals, his expressions, his acrobats from his taekwondo & kendo training, the storytelling & emotional stirring which set him apart & makes him extraordinarily unparalleled. He’s the type who can’t be copied, not to mention he is disciplined & a perfectionist. I personally never grow tired of watching him & he is awe-inspiring every single time! When you watch his solos & focus videos, you’ll be blown away in ways you couldn’t possibly imagine, i promise!

So yeah about choreo for live performances of Black swan.
1. The choreo they do live with singing/rapping is choreo from MV but without solo parts, but most choreo you saw in video is part of performance, totally worth watching live.
2. There is special performance from MMA 2020, when they start with Bkack swan dance performance, they only dance it is special choreo they made for this ocassion with ochiestra version of song.
3. There is performance of Black swan from online concert "ON:E" that Jimin did solo dance break at the end but not the same like in MV, but sooo cool. Beautiful.
And aside from Black swan, BTS dancers did a lot of solo/unit dance breaks as special performances, usually Jimin and Jhope, but JK too. (They all called 3J for reason 😉). So yeah your idea that he should perform only by dance this songs isn't really far from reality bc they did things like this - dance performances, solo, units or full band.
Also usually for his solo songs he dance full on in them...

As you said, Jimin is the best dancer ever! But Jimin is not only an amazing dancer, he is also a very talented singer. Please check out "Like Crazy', the title of Jimin's first solo album (by the way, with this song is Jimin the first Korean solo singer to top the Hot 100 in Billboard history) and 'Set Me Free Part 2.' in the same album. I look forward to your reaction on that.

Thank you - yes, Jimin is a true professional. He has always driven himself to be better with each performance. All he wants is to become a better performer for his fans. And he is the only idol performer (as far as I know) who has training and experience in contemporary dance, which allows him to do this style of choreography. I believe he is widely looked up to by other idols as well.
But when he started he really lacked confidence about (almost?) every aspect of his performance, and. worked extremely hard and for long hours to improve - and not just for the short period he was a trainee (about 8=10 months?). He continued to work impossibly hard even after debut. They all did, and they all suffered from criticism and self-criticism, but my impression is that Jimin may have been the least confident of them all. He was always and consistently supported and encouraged by BTS and their staff, but he suffered a lot.
I hope that no he feels more sure of himself, but he will always drive himself to improve. It is just his personality now. We love him anyway.
I believe this is the secret of their success. They never stop and always try to improve. Jimin really left me speechless, I didn't expect him to be so good. I truly believe he is one of the best dancers I have ever seen in my life. In fact, I'll tell you that I've seen some professional dancers who are decidedly less good than him. A true artist
Don’t forget the hate am him start early,jimin alway had/have confidence but his big problem was and still is he is shy ☺️ he himself say that even at school in young days his time was more studied sport . But I think when rm use to talk on vlive no one really listen they just wrote shit rm say jimin read more them him he slept with his books even he tours he do his degrees v and jm have degrees with honour and 2021/2023he make his MASTER 🧑🎓 but he never spoke about himself

❣JIMIN, born October 13, 1995, at age 11, started studying, performing, & competing (winning every competition), in hip hop, popping (excelled), & street dancing, while attending the renowned Just Dance Academy in Busan where he's from! He was so good that an instructor even had the high tuition fee waived at one point! This was while also attending middle school, where he loved sports, being quite athletic, joined the football team, excellent at track, great at basketball, & billiards! Jimin also, all throughout his schooling, was known as a top scholar, achieving perfect scores, especially in math & science which just always came easy to him! Jimin was even class president for 9 yrs in a row! Jimin, all throughout his schooling, was also quite good in art class, as well as calligraphy.
Jimin, then also took up contemporary dance. The media, after seeing a performance of Jimin's performing at a huge Busan Festival Event, called Jimin "The rising star of Busan"!! JIMIN also studied ballet & traditional Korean dance while attending Busan High School of the Arts. Jimin still went to Just Dance Academy to take hip hop classes whenever he could because his first love has always been hip hop, even though he was now majoring in contemporary! JIMIN even had an offer to dance overseas, but declined because he also wanted to become a singer since the 2nd grade, to the dismay of one of his dance instructors who said "The world of dance was going to lose a great artist"!!
So Jimin then went and auditioned for BigHit Entertainment, (company BTS is signed with), being the very last member to officially join BTS on January 12, 2013, (exactly only 6 months before BTS debuted), being a trainee for only a few months (which is unheard of for most Kpop idols), as opposed to the 2-3 yrs of being a trainee the other members had! But Jimin was so good that he was assigned the official title of one of the two Main Dancers, as well as Lead Vocalist. Jimin was even assigned most of the high notes since the very beginning, because even without all that training in the beginning, he was that good, a natural born singer who, just like his dancing makes you feel every emotion and feeling he's trying to convey!
JIMIN, also, for 8 yrs, since a quite young boy, trained in various forms (4), of martial arts: Taekwondo (Blackbelt), Hapkido, Kumdo (Korean form of Kendo), & Chinese martial arts. He even won a scholarship, the only student to do so, to study more extensively in China for awhile! All the martial arts training has given JIMIN his phenomenal inner core strength, as well as his amazing flexibility, which has enabled Jimin to achieve all those breathtakingly spectacular gravity defying dance moves! JIMIN has found a way to incorporate all his various dance disciplines, as well as his extensive training in martial arts into his unique, ever so special, outstandingly amazing dancing abilities!!
JIMIN, has been called 'Stage Commander', known for his amazing, so mesmerizing stage presence. Each dance move is executed flawlessly, his extensions all the way to the fingertips, his lines so clean, his fluidity, his poise & elegance, his ever so graceful moves, but yet, sharp, quick & deliberate when required! He focuses on every detail! Known for his work ethics and being a perfectionist to a fault, spending hours in the practice room, will study every move, even focusing on hands to fingertips. Even his facial expressions, or the look in his eyes! Every single detail he focuses on. My first exposure to BTS was j-hope's Boy Meets Evil. I thought "i don't know the other members, but none of them could possibly be as good as whoever this is". Then i worked my way through the other 6 and each took over being the best at what they did. I gave up and just let the miracle happen. 😂

did you watch a jimin dance collection? there is one for only the contemporary style and then all of them mixed togehter. i love the mma 2019 dance and the mma 2016 solo dance and he also dances with all the best dancers of each kpop group for one song and jimin stole the show he was just so much better than the rest. this is one of them czcams.com/video/vdOQsDO1gjA/video.html but this one was with other professional dancers not idols.

Nel video esteso (lo puoi trovare sulla bangtan TV) ci sono altri spezzoni dove Jimin balla, più brevi. L'Orchestra Version di Black Swan non è danzata da loro ma da un corpo di ballo esterno (che ha fatto un lavoro encomiabile). Ci sono però dei video presi dal loro ultimo tour (Permission To Dance Los Angelesd e Las Vegas) dove loro ballano live assieme ai loro ballerini la versione da Orchestra come introduzione all'esibizione vera e propria, e QUELLA coreografia è spettacolare. BTS are part of a very few artists whose, in my opinion, live performances is just as good (if not better) than the studio. Since youre going down the rabbit hole you should also look at Jimin's Serendipity live performance. 💜
