I came to Australia for 6 months, met the love of my and promptly returned to Toronto. 5 months later my love followed me to Canada and arrived 5 days before the wedding.
One baby and 2 years later we returned to live in the land of Aus.
There's always a good reason to move to Australia. 🎉❤

Here’s a reason for you (and my heart goes out to the families and friends of the victims in Maine from your latest mass shooting)… the likelihood of an Australian being killed or wounded by a gun (let alone multiple Australians in a mass shooting) is so incredibly low virtually nobody gives the idea even a passing thought. Statistically we have 0.18 gun deaths per 100k population per year. Most of those are gang members killing each other in places like Sydney or Melbourne. Even those make the national headlines because they are rare and therefore shocking to us. The US would need a 24/7 news channel dedicated to gun deaths just to list them. 😢

But this weird sound she thought were either frogs or possibly a wombat, grunting. There were holes everywhere behind her fenceline. Finally she realised when there was enough light for her to see the roos on the back fence grunting n fighting and chewing and digging. She rang me last night to tell me theres some big greys having some biff. Now she is invested in knowing the roos behind us. All meat can be vacuum sealed and chilled and will stay fresh for several weeks. I know this is one way they transport meat over great distances. I used to buy packs of beef straight from the abattoir just like this.
I have lived in the country most of my life and we have to always watch out for Roos hopping on the road. They’re mostly found early in the morning or late afternoon and night. They will jump out right in front of your car and cause accidents. We have hit a few over the years. 😊
Definitely not a Starbucks. They don’t do well here. Most went broke and had to close down. We have heaps of coffee shops here and they do well.

We live on top of Mt Tamborine, SEQueensland. We see kangaroos regularly. Very few people drive off the mountain during dawn or dusk unless they have a 4x4 with a bull bar ‘cause too many accidents, involving kangaroos, occur during these times, our son nearly wrote my 4x4 off hitting a kangaroo at the base of the mountain whilst going to work at dawn. Thank goodness he was not driving my V8. It would have been totalled.

To qualify for public healthcare here in Australia you need to be an Aussie citizen, or have permanent residency, or be in the process of applying for permanent residency - and have a whole bunch of documentation to support this. You don't qualify for it just because you've stepped off a plane. While there are some similarities, we also have some pretty different social values to the USA (well to certain parts of the USA anyway).

It's quite sad really but I thought I'd share that it's not just non Australians who haven't eaten them 😊

Ps there are these small gadgets you buy in Pertol Stations here that fit somehow to the front of your car. As you’re driving the wind goes right through these and they make a very high pitched whistle that Kangaroos hear coming and get out of your way fast. Don’t ask me if other animals or humans can hear them? Maybe something to ask those in the know. I just remember my Deaf son in law found out about them after he and my daughter, hit a kangaroo driving at night, along a “short cut” 🤦🏼‍♀️ through the outback of QLD travelling home to
Adelaide. Sometimes what you don’t know may hurt 😞 not only killed the kangaroo but damaged the front end of his car and windscreen. One week later, sleeping in the car in the middle of nowhere while waiting for the part he needed to continue his way home. He soon found that “shortcut” was not!

Big fan of your channel, commentary and curiosity of different countries. In terms of kangaroo meat, I suggest you wait until you get to Oz, and try it freshly cooked, then you get the real deal, enjoy it that way, it's a very lean meat and lots of cooks can get it wrong when cooking 🙂 Not sure if you know but (your favourite our favourite 😉) grocery stores Woolies and Coles sell many kangaroo products - wet and dry products. Our family cat loves to eat kangaroo mince raw, and shortly after eating it, fairdinkum, she got the zoomies, running up and down the stairs, bouncing around literally like a roo, it was funny to watch, lifted energy. Also, when we made kangaroo mince a regular part of her diet, her coat improved to more beautiful and shiny. I know that was random but just wanted to share... Keep up the great content and sarcasm!

    Ryan, love ya.
I look at it this way - in New York there are people who couldn’t imagine living where you live. They’d be worried they couldn’t get a taxi late at night, they’d miss their local bagel shop, they’d worry there might be no jobs or the jobs would be menial, they’d be away from family, they’d have to get a car, learn to drive, so many things.
And yet… you could reassure them, tell them it’ll be OK, some things might change but there will be other things to make up for it. They might come to like it.
I’d love for you to come to Australia’, especially Sydney. It’s different, but you’ll love it.
Keep an eye out for flight deals. Once you’re here, there’s enough of us to sort your accommodation, car, whatever. Bring the cheese and tin lid.
