  • This is The Best infrared Heater. After 6 years, Dr Heater Infrared Heater 968. These units still work great after all these years. I have no issues with their performance. However, yes, they are used and have some abuse.

    Just got mine! was looking up reviews and I saw this! Just got it but have been loving it so far, only spent $110 and its helping me heat my 2 bedroom thats maybe 950 sqft. It's quiet, sounds like a fan and it absolutely CHUCKS heat, I live in Michigan and it seems to be doing well just waiting on my bill to see the difference.

      @@Qqqq-gf9ow well, I can tell you this. I used WAY less electric thru consumers this November than I did last November when I was using my furnace only. I also did some research and it says that if you run a 1500w infrared heater (which this is) then it would use about $1.60 If you ran it for 8 hours meaning about $0.20 cents an hour. I'm using this in conjunction with my furnace like I'll run my heater in the morning cuz its cold when I wake up then I'll just use the Infrared to keep me at a comfortable temp all day and it's been working great that way. I'm sure once it gets a bit colder I'll have to use my furnace a bit more but nowhere near what I was running it at, it was kicking on all the time just to keep me at 68-69F.

    Excellent buy for sure! Loving mine already. Use it every night down here in Alabama. Spent over $1200 in propane heating my double wide. I heat half my house with this heater (master bathroom and master bedroom) this has already saved me so much on propane and my electric bill hasn't really even noticed it yet.

    Thanks that was reassuring to hear from you. I just purchased heater this week I moved into a basement apartment and sometimes it’s chilly this takes the chill right out. At least I know it has longevity, I like the fact that the thermostat works very well and it’s quiet.

    Hi Thanks for your video... I have the 968 and i see there is no filter... just wondering how i take the back off or the plastic grade so i can clean out the trapped lint and dust on that metal shield

      Sorry for the late reply, I wouldn’t open up the unit. You could probably add or buy a small air filter for the unit. Might use a filter cloth or something.

    Hello there, thanks for the update on this heater. I was wondering if you ever did get the SunHeat Infrared Sun Heater yet or not. You mentioned this 3 years ago (it's now 2022), so not sure if you ever bought one yet or not. I'm really curious about the SunHeat one, as I did get this Dr Heater one yesterday. Thanks again. :)

      Hi, No I haven’t as of yet bought a SunHeat heater, I plan to buy it this year and do a review on the heater. The SunHeat are nice the price is a little high but they are Amish made. I will probably have it around October since it’s now spring.

      @@IndianaDiy Thanks so much for the update. I'd really like to get one but with the expense it's a tough call. There aren't a great many real review videos on it so it'd be nice to find out more with real usage. Good luck to you and thanks again. :)

    I live on the east coast of Canada in a 90 year old house. (Trust me ) this heater or the iLiving heater ( same heater ) are amazing. Spend the extra money and buy the real heater. The other knockoff look alike heaters won't last !!!. This heater works even better if you can place it beneath a ceiling fan that can spin in reverse.

    Watched your original video on it and was very pleased to see this follow up. Central heating unit and ductwork going to be needing replaced and have been checking on other options for heating. Sounds like maybe need 2 of these but still a whole lot cheaper.

    • @IndianaDiy
      @IndianaDiy  Před 3 lety

      Glad I could help, depending on your fuel source you have some options but still a furnace is your main bet mostly small heaters like in my video are only for supplemental heat or heating a bedroom or small area. Now there is a brand of Amish made infrared heaters that are more expensive and I am looking at buying 1 of them to start with those are called SUNHEAT www.sunheat.com/ .They are more expensive but you can get replacement parts.

    I see the light for "room". Do you know if this is a setting you need to select, or rather something that will automatically engage somehow. Thanks for the video!

      You have to press Mode until you get to room.

    Hello I was wondering how hot this got to touch on the back or anywhere. I read it gets really hot in the back on 1500 watt almost untouchable.

    • @IndianaDiy
      @IndianaDiy  Před 4 lety

      Slightly warm to touch even on the high setting, I never had it get super hot or too hot to touch.

    • @taylorpair4065
      @taylorpair4065 Před 4 lety

      The back is not hot from my experience with this unit. Don't grill is the only hot spot. Child won't burn themselves if they touch it and quickly pull away. Amazing little unit. For $100 more or so, the Heat4less 1500 it's even better. I use both together to heat my home and I save compared to my propane usage. I don't even use propane anymore since I switched to using the Dr Heater and heat4less together.

    Hi, Is there any way we change the black power wire/cord?

    • @IndianaDiy
      @IndianaDiy  Před 2 lety

      Not unless you take it apart and rewire with a heavy-duty cord.

  • @shay9203

    Where are you from? It gets -30c here in canada. With a wood stove we heat or home but there's lots of heat loss due to all our windows. Do you think it would heat a room well without the heat of the fire place still?

    • @IndianaDiy
      @IndianaDiy  Před 3 lety

      I live in Indiana, USA. But for what you describe I would't use the heater by itself as the only source of heat might run your electric bill up a lot. Now if you use it supplement a decent sized fire it might be better and save on electric and wood.

      use foil backed rigid insulation in your windows 4-8' sheets cut easy with an exacto. Cut 1/8 of an inch bigger than the sill and shove it in tight for the winter. Tape around it. My windows are warmer than my walls.
