    It would be nice if someone would tell everyone how to change the batteries. All the videos tell you how to take the faceplate off but not how to change batteries. The battery compartment says "Do not remove" but those 4 AA batteries are what has to be replaced. And it is almost impossible to remove the batteries anyway since the compartment holds them in on both sides. It's my guess that the people who put these videos on CZcams don't know how to change the batteries either.

    • @IndianaDiy
      @IndianaDiy Před 3 měsíci

      Mine originally didn't come with batteries, and I put my own in. I assume the new ones are just set up to not be replaced and use the C wire for power.

    Under normal operating conditions, how much water is actually sent to the drain in this system? I’m considering an installation in which I collect the waste water for cleaning / plant watering but wonder how much drain water this would actually mean managing. Thanks

    • @IndianaDiy
      @IndianaDiy Před 5 měsíci

      As far as I know it was 1:1 ratio. I know what you’re saying about watering plants it’s a good idea! We did that in our garden used waste water from our RO. We have a family of four and our current RO has a 9 gallon tank so depending on your tank and ratio could be more waste water.

    Hi, how is your spin down working at 50 microns? I am considering installing a larger sized one from iSpring for city water but concerned with frequent clogging at 50 microns. Wondering if 100 microns would be better...I am simply wanting to prevent my tankless heater and other appliance pre-filters from clogging up.

    • @IndianaDiy
      @IndianaDiy Před 6 měsíci

      Hello, I would stay with 50 microns for city water. In my whole house water filter system I have the 50 -> 25 -> 5 microns filters. I’m planning on having a tankless water heater installed this year. My city’s water is hard and lots of rust in it, so I use multi gradient filters to trap it. So I keep my 50 micron spin down as my first line of defense and It really doesn’t clog up fast unless you really have new city pipes or something weird going on with your incoming lines. I do replace the filter every year or two just because of chlorine and harsh chemicals in water.

    One suggestion - don't go 'quiet' and show web pages for parts during the video, list links to those parts down below the video in the details section above the comments. Also, to prevent interference on your data lines, move the cable away from the power line coming into the house, and don't use a common ground rod for both the AC power and the data line, move them apart. I'd run the data line down the roofline to a lower part of the house, then drop it down, put the ground block and a new ground rod at that point, then run the line into the basement at that point (of course it depends on the house's and basement's structure). Good that you used RG-6 and weatherproof couplers, and quad shielded cable. You could also use RG-11 for the long run for a slightly better signal quality.

      Ah, well I don't think that's bad idea either. If it helps Good! There's lots of types of adhesive but Hot glue wouldn't be too bad, especially now there's so many brands.

    Just got mine! was looking up reviews and I saw this! Just got it but have been loving it so far, only spent $110 and its helping me heat my 2 bedroom thats maybe 950 sqft. It's quiet, sounds like a fan and it absolutely CHUCKS heat, I live in Michigan and it seems to be doing well just waiting on my bill to see the difference.

      @@Qqqq-gf9ow well, I can tell you this. I used WAY less electric thru consumers this November than I did last November when I was using my furnace only. I also did some research and it says that if you run a 1500w infrared heater (which this is) then it would use about $1.60 If you ran it for 8 hours meaning about $0.20 cents an hour. I'm using this in conjunction with my furnace like I'll run my heater in the morning cuz its cold when I wake up then I'll just use the Infrared to keep me at a comfortable temp all day and it's been working great that way. I'm sure once it gets a bit colder I'll have to use my furnace a bit more but nowhere near what I was running it at, it was kicking on all the time just to keep me at 68-69F.

    I would never put coax next to AC power. You are just asking for interference.

    • @crosslink1493
      @crosslink1493 Před 7 měsíci

      True. That's a problem in itself. IF you're replacing all the cable and its just going into the basement then run it along (and securely attach it to) the fascia/eve boards at the roofline to another point of the house that's lower down and have it come in at that point, and put a new ground rod/grounding coupler in that area, too.

    Are you taking any tools to push the adhesive further into the gap? Or are you just running a bead of caulk along the subfloor and floor joists? I have a house built in 1979, I am a first time home buyer and most of the floors squeak...it's driving me nuts! I've tried shims in a few spots, but i'd like a better solution overall.

    • @IndianaDiy
      @IndianaDiy Před 9 měsíci

      No, I am Not I allowing the caulk to push and work into the crack. It would be harder with a putty knife to shove it in or spread it between joist and sub floor. It would be mess. You can also use a small drill bit and find the joists and do screws and wood filler for really bad spot. But caulk is easier and faster plus you can buy a large caulk gun 28oz and a loctite subfloor or construction adhesive in a big caulk tube. Best Of luck, hope that helped.

    Hello, thanks for adding a video of your installation. Is there any weird taste to the water after running through the system? I am thinking about installing these, but wasn’t sure if the water would have any taste to it. Traditional water softeners make the water “salty” to taste, does this descaler do the same to the water? Thank you

    • @IndianaDiy
      @IndianaDiy Před 9 měsíci

      I understand your concern and there’s Is no taste difference. The descaling may not be as strong as some other products.
