    Paul what a great video review on these heaters so I definately subscribed to your channel. Bought a Dr Heater 968 with the humidifier so the wife wouldn’t be so cold and finally we have a wonderful heater that she had to turn down. Wasn’t looking to use the humidifier on it but the model that didn’t have it was a few inches smaller so I thought the smaller one would heat up our living room like she wanted so bought the 968 which is 16 inches I believe tall. I thought it was an infrared heater. We live in Wa State so on those cold rainy nights we wanted a heater that would dry the air instead of make it humid. Thank you for your great video Paul. I saw someone said you have a kitty but didn’t notice one so I’ll have to check out some more of your videos to see if I can see your kitty since I love kitties. Mine sleep snuggled up to me every night. My favorite time of day.

    I want to vouch for the Duraflame's build quality. For these "cabinet style" heaters they're more on the expensive side, but you can sometimes find generic (no brand logo) versions for about half the price, which is what I own. I've taken it apart before and internally, it is indeed identical to the Duraflame shown here. I've had it since 2014 and it still works very well.

    I have the Duraflame infrared heater. I bought it back in 2013 and honestly I've had no trouble with it.
    I keep the dust filter clean and that's it! It has a remote control that is handy - just remember to change the AAA batteries now and then .
    It actually looks like nice piece of furniture 👍
    It has my chihuahuas approval 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

      I also have the Dr. Heater. Problem was after about a month the oscillation fan started getting really noisy. I have the humidifier on it also. Taking it apart to find out the problem is a nightmare. I never did get to the oscillator, but when I put it all back together just having it upside down whatever was making the noise fell out, but it does not osciiiate anymore. I really liked that feature to but it still puts out heat and that is the good thing.

    Paul, thanks for doing the research on these for us. I'd like to ask you to please clarify this point for me. In your comparison of the two Duraflame heaters, you say the one on your right cost $58, while the one on the left cost $170, but that the parts on the inside that produce the heat are exactly the same. Then, I understood you to say that the low price of the one on the right makes you question the QUALITY of it. If the internal parts, the part that produces the heat, are exactly the same, why do you question the quality of it? Could one also conclude that the one on your left is badly overpriced? Please clarify this point. Thank you again for providing this research for you us.

    A standard outlet is 15 amp. It is VERY unusual in typical construction to have a 20 amp outlet - which requires larger wire, 12-2 instead of 14-2, and a larger 20 amp breaker in the electrical panel. THUS ANY HEATER plugged into a standard outlet is limited to 15 amp. Standard voltage is 110 volts, so 15 x 110 = 1650 watts. They always leave a slight safety margin so at 110 volts limiting the amperage to about 13.6 amps - which can be safely used in most 15 amp circuits without tripping older and slightly tired 15 amp breakers. Now if you REALLY want to warm a space in most temperate climates use a de-humidifier. The heat released by the motor PLUS the heat of evaporation released by the condensing water is GREATER than 1500 watts AND when you remove the water from the air a LOWER temperature feels warmer. In the fall and spring, a couple of 15 amp de-humidifiers in the basement of a typical residence coupled with turning on the fan only of the furnace can effectively SHORTEN the need to have the furnace on by 2 to 3 months saving many $$$ in fuel costs. Plus THEY WILL NEVER CATCH FIRE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.

      99.9% of PTC heaters are made without air filters. You can check them at any Home Depot, Lowe's or Walmart. I'm confident the manufacturers have a good reason for making them like that. All of these heaters use the same amount of electricity.

    • @chezlerq4478
      @chezlerq4478 Před rokem

      @@Paul-ol8cb Costs extra to put a filter on the back. You have to pay extra if it comes with a filter.
      I know that most heaters come without a filter. I'm just saying that they Should have one. The unit will stay cleaner inside (Which will make it last longer), and it will make the air in your house cleaner at the same time.
      Yes, 1500 watts is 1500 watts. One 1200 watt heater uses the same amount of electricity as another 1200 watt heater. The difference comes in its efficiency in heating an area. The one that stores heat and moves air the best will use less electricity, because it will cycle off more often.
