Great video, but perhaps turn off the ceiling fan in future
Thanks for thus helpful comparison. The decor shows the most detail with the OptiBright, but it isn't overly bright. I have an Aqueon OptiBright and like the light's appearance. I grow low-light plants and prefer subdued light, and the OptiBright fits the bill. I used to have an Aqueon full spectrum T8 and didn't like its sickly yellow-green hue. Other drawbacks were the disposal requirements, the risk of breaking a bulb, and the eroding light quality.
Thank you
All electric space heaters 1500/750 watts or 5200 btu on high except personal space heaters. The square footage is a scam. If it has a fan the better.
there is a lot more to it than that
@Paul-ol8cb explain why? There is a video on technology connection and he goes over why they are all the same.
Paul what a great video review on these heaters so I definately subscribed to your channel. Bought a Dr Heater 968 with the humidifier so the wife wouldn’t be so cold and finally we have a wonderful heater that she had to turn down. Wasn’t looking to use the humidifier on it but the model that didn’t have it was a few inches smaller so I thought the smaller one would heat up our living room like she wanted so bought the 968 which is 16 inches I believe tall. I thought it was an infrared heater. We live in Wa State so on those cold rainy nights we wanted a heater that would dry the air instead of make it humid. Thank you for your great video Paul. I saw someone said you have a kitty but didn’t notice one so I’ll have to check out some more of your videos to see if I can see your kitty since I love kitties. Mine sleep snuggled up to me every night. My favorite time of day.
I want to vouch for the Duraflame's build quality. For these "cabinet style" heaters they're more on the expensive side, but you can sometimes find generic (no brand logo) versions for about half the price, which is what I own. I've taken it apart before and internally, it is indeed identical to the Duraflame shown here. I've had it since 2014 and it still works very well.
did I just get a sermon on infrared heaters?
lifesmart is dangerous youre asking for a fire
Do NOT talk about infrared heaters. Because those boxes are just heat fans.
Just threw 2 Marineland in garbage leak need new o rings . Fulvil has twice the water flow
What is a FluVIAL?
What’s with the eyeball workout in the beginning??😬😂
I am looking for dim lights. We have 6 black skirt tetras and when the light comes on they go hide. So, when I feed them I have to have the aquarium light off. Anyone know which of these nights would be best for them?
👍👍👏
This guy sounds very thorough. He's really done his homework on these products
I have a Marineland 220 and now have the issue of leaks from the o-rings on the part where the valve goes to the filter. Tried replacing the O rings and no luck. Tried looking for the other replacement o rings and replacement parts on the Marineland cover but no luck. From what i have found in several forums, the top leaking from places other than arlund the canister is common and people are complaining that the quality of the newer Marineland canisters are not what they used to be. Have used several Fluvals in the past and they have worked great for me. Also, replacement parts are easier to find for the Fluval than the Marineland. So ended up ordering replacement parts for a 406 rebuild and still came out cheaper than a new Marineland 220. Really wanted to rebuild my 220 because as far as filtering my 40 gallon tank, it's been great up until this leak issue. But parts haven't been easy to find and some parts I can only get through Marineland. Guess it's worth mentioning that at least I got about 4 years out of the Marineland.
Still cant get parts.
Out of all the video's about heaters and testing, this one was far out the most informative. Thank you.
But which one is the most efficient?
aside from the 2 smaller heaters I used in the test all heaters use the same amount of electricity. That should be enough to let you know which one would be most efficient.
@@Paul-ol8cb Yup. Went with a portable heat pump instead.
Could you do a test on how much energy these types of heaters use.
They all tested around 1430-1470 watts and are about the same when it comes to the amount of energy with the exception of the 2 smaller heaters
What is the off-brand for the duraflame? Thanks for the video it is great.
Did you figure it out
Who makes the $58.00 heater that is the same as the Duraflame?
its called the powerheat, here is the link www.walmart.com/ip/Powerheat-Electric-Quartz-Infrared-Heater-with-Safer-Plug-Dark-Cherry/376616290?athbdg=L1400
I have tried six different kinds of infra red heaters and I will say the Heat4less/Home Comfort knocks all the others out of the park. They are the only ones that actually heart what they say it will heat.
Thank you on for this video it really helped me. I bought my dura flame 6 months ago and it just stopped blowing heat it still turns on but no heat I contacted duraflame they said I had to contact their third party seller twinstar home and I was just blown away how they just dismissed me for the amount of money I spent on this heater 🤦🏻♀️
Dr Heater vs EdenPure vs Sunheat
Paul, thanks for doing the research on these for us. I'd like to ask you to please clarify this point for me. In your comparison of the two Duraflame heaters, you say the one on your right cost $58, while the one on the left cost $170, but that the parts on the inside that produce the heat are exactly the same. Then, I understood you to say that the low price of the one on the right makes you question the QUALITY of it. If the internal parts, the part that produces the heat, are exactly the same, why do you question the quality of it? Could one also conclude that the one on your left is badly overpriced? Please clarify this point. Thank you again for providing this research for you us.
What about EdenPure?
I'm not 100% on this but I believe that LifeSmart is a division of Eden Pure (or a knock-off), their heaters look the same. I own an Eden Pure IR heater (1500W 8 element, steel cabinet) for 2+ years now & am happy with it. It's a lil' pricey to operate but it'll keep you warm.
I want to hang out anyone who is all about truth, but this guy takes it! His outfit, the wallpaper, his special room, this cat is style incarnate. I am following his word to the letter this winter season. This guy, his scope, his tenacity to find the info, run tests, set it up on CZcams---sketchy CEO's worst nightmare. You rock, Paul!
I love this guy because I'm a consumer needing unbiased facts before a purchase. This guy, his scope, his tenacity to find the info, run tests, set it up on CZcams---sketchy CEO's worst nightmare. This dude rocks!
Thumb up for review.thumb down for wallpaper :)
A standard outlet is 15 amp. It is VERY unusual in typical construction to have a 20 amp outlet - which requires larger wire, 12-2 instead of 14-2, and a larger 20 amp breaker in the electrical panel. THUS ANY HEATER plugged into a standard outlet is limited to 15 amp. Standard voltage is 110 volts, so 15 x 110 = 1650 watts. They always leave a slight safety margin so at 110 volts limiting the amperage to about 13.6 amps - which can be safely used in most 15 amp circuits without tripping older and slightly tired 15 amp breakers. Now if you REALLY want to warm a space in most temperate climates use a de-humidifier. The heat released by the motor PLUS the heat of evaporation released by the condensing water is GREATER than 1500 watts AND when you remove the water from the air a LOWER temperature feels warmer. In the fall and spring, a couple of 15 amp de-humidifiers in the basement of a typical residence coupled with turning on the fan only of the furnace can effectively SHORTEN the need to have the furnace on by 2 to 3 months saving many $$$ in fuel costs. Plus THEY WILL NEVER CATCH FIRE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.
so what is the model of the oem dura flame? you should have just told us
If you ran these for 6 months how in the world did you get your sponges so clear like new ? Mine are dirty and brown after 1 month
Hey everyone I have the Duraflame infrared heater. I bought it back in 2013 and honestly I've had no trouble with it. I keep the dust filter clean and that's it! It has a remote control that is handy - just remember to change the AAA batteries now and then . It actually looks like nice piece of furniture 👍 It has my chihuahuas approval 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Worth every penny 😉
Well done but would have liked to know the name of $58 heater.
I believe it was called the power heat but I'm not sure, the link for it should be in the comments.
The results of all three are so close that the winner should be determined by the cost to purchase and the cost to operate. P.S. If it moves air, it needs a filter. Has noting to do with the type of heater it is.
99.9% of PTC heaters are made without air filters. You can check them at any Home Depot, Lowe's or Walmart. I'm confident the manufacturers have a good reason for making them like that. All of these heaters use the same amount of electricity.
@@Paul-ol8cb Costs extra to put a filter on the back. You have to pay extra if it comes with a filter. I know that most heaters come without a filter. I'm just saying that they Should have one. The unit will stay cleaner inside (Which will make it last longer), and it will make the air in your house cleaner at the same time. Yes, 1500 watts is 1500 watts. One 1200 watt heater uses the same amount of electricity as another 1200 watt heater. The difference comes in its efficiency in heating an area. The one that stores heat and moves air the best will use less electricity, because it will cycle off more often.
@@chezlerq4478 you make a really good point.
What was the name of the $58 one made by duraflame bt generic?
Bulbs were terrible. If they match or exceed Gen 3 PTC heat efficiency, effectiveness, and it doesn't suck all moisture outta the air ( the Eden Pure I knew and loved !!!) I'll buy 2 immediately. When we had to return 3 of 3 bulb models 2 & 3 times each and it took the entire winter to have them returned we didn't get more than n 30 days a season ot of any of them. So when splitting wood, I was so ticked the mawl sent them to their graves. Give me back the Gen3 quality and I'll never but a different heater- instead, I'll happily take one to the grave with me with love and appreciation. Problem is they haven't yet manufactured and stocked the product - no one searching and waiting is finding this family favorite. Oh, and I too questioned the source of the glow so have not switched back ... waiting for review .
Thanks! Very helpful!
What does PTC mean?
positive temperature coefficient
Thanks so much!
I have seen 4 of those dr heaters. 3 failed quickly. 4th one would not kick the infrared element on so it malfunctioned within a few days. conclusion: they are junk I am a 4th gen electrician and electronics repair expert btw, lol
Code doesn't allow for a heater to use more than 1500 watts on 15 amp plug its a manufacturing regulation
What model number is the #1 heater?
We need to stop going on the computer about everything Buy basic products that actually work
Use a crystal ball instead
What is better, eden pure or dr. heater?
Personally I like the dr heater over the EdenPURE. The performance is the same and I didn't see anything the EdenPURe offers to justify the high cost.
i have the life smart steel heaters they are good
Thanks Paul! Great video
all those big ego's of big time losers. i hate you tube more than ever.
Super helpful experiment thanks for sharing .
