I think it's because when you live in the city everything feels like a competition. There are so many people around that you feel you need to impress and it's easy to become insecure. City people generally are more connected to the media and their idea of the perfect person, therefore in the city we tend to be more judgemental towards ourselves and others. So I feel city people can get sad more easily. I'm not generalizing all city people though, it's just an observation.
Alex Carnegie That is a good observation!
Very true I’m so tired of the competition
I agree, too many people. I live in Downtown Detroit and I'm looking to move to a small town. More peaceful, less people, and cheaper.
I feel like it's the other way. In a city, no one cares about you. But if you dye your hair blue in a small town, everyone will be talking about it.
Thank you 🙏 I’ll use it for my essay
It honestly depends on my mood, like one day I wanna live in NYC and the next I wanna be in the middle of nowhere.
Thats exactly how I am!!
Sometimes when im in a bad mood i despise ppl and wanna be away from everyone lmao. But naw city life is wayyyyyy better
I'm the same way lol
yo Nismo no it isn’t
Suburbs?
I have lived in the city and then moved to the country. I can 100% say I am way happier and more relaxed living in the country. I love it everyone is so much more friendly and I would never move away :)
Yeah I live on a farm as well and I would never want to move away. I love my animals
i used to live in the country but then we had to move to the city, finally going back to the country and getting horses!
Obviously you don’t work on a farm
I used to live on a farm now i live in the city. I am a teenager who grew up in Ohio then moved to some city in florida. I dont like it here, all the kids act like gangsters and i miss my chickens😣
Same. Lived in a city with a pop of 300k people and now like in a city with 50k people. I love the peace and quiet
I live in Dubai. The only country side I have, is the desert.
How is it like living in Dubai? Im dying to go there.
Kyla James its an amazing place but I suggest you go here October -March because its colder and If you want Hot weather then you can go now...But its really nice and a lot of people speak english and there's a lot to do here!~
True but its kinda far from the city
yasmin tomlinson Abu Dhabi. Same.
teo 5000 USA country is amazing boy! The sunsets and sunrises are the best that and you can see stars about 8 million times better than the city its peaceful and you can have as much fun as you want with nobody judging you but when you go into town and act the same way people generally look down on you
Rural = Family oriented, friendly community
City = Buisness oriented, Money based comunity
Crimson Sapboi Friendly Community?! I live in a Rural area and NOBODY is friendly. I'm sure it isn't better in the city, but rural areas are NOT a friendly community.
It's somewhat accurate but at times rural areas are wealthier than cities.
it depends on the people or person.
CadenceDerp i live in a Rural area and people are friendly tare unless you're in the bad part of it
Crimson Sapboi I kind of see what he is trying to say. It does not necessarily apply to everyone. But in a more broad sense, rural communities tend to have a more close-knit community for the reason that they enjoy a more homogenous set of everyday activities (smaller cafes or stores that people tend to flock to, so you can see that it is kind of a more family/small community oriented setting (at least ideally). City is more diverse, and you meet more people each day. You share diverse activities with diverse people which in a way, promotes distance because you tend to meet strangers or acquaintances a lot and most of the time, you don't really see the same people almost everyday (unless work, school or home). You can go to a starbucks coffee or chipotle with 500 other people in it...there are so many options. But this will depend on the kind of community you are in of course. It's not to say that all communities need to fit the stereotype.
Cities make me depressed. I mean, seeing all the trash and garbage all over the place and homeless people everywhere, it just doesn't sit well with me.
Anna M Foster cities are miserable places to live long term
there's so much to do in the city, and in the neighborhood i live in, there aren't any homeless people
I live in the country and it is amazing! When I go to the city it smells, is dirty, and all you hear is cars honking at each other!
True
Well not every city is the same
Since I’m more of a nature kind of person, I agree.
I agree to you sister👍. Living in a densely populated cities is just like a curse.
I strongly desire living in the country. I had enough of city living. It’s time for new changes.
I've lived in both bigger cities and small towns. They both have their perks and down sides.
The fact that the thumbnail and the title don't have the country or city on the same sides as each other to match up makes me feel uncomfortable

Of course country folk are happier. Lush country scenery,or concrete jungle? 1 acres of peace and quiet to yourself ,or neighbors 2 feet away?
freeweed I live in NC and I want to kill myself.
***** Bruh you guys have no idea about rural areas. xD
I guess city folk don't really know how capable a car is. Hint, your average tank full can take you about 400 miles.
Being around alot of people or few to no ppl at all... I choose city
+Wow, much swag. Also, much 2014 i do... Hate it lol
It's all about perspective.
in country, everyone knows eachother. in city, there are just a bunch of creeps locked in little apartament rooms (joke)
That’s what I hate about the country ew, I don’t want people all up in my business it’s weird

Living in the country was defiantly some of the best years of my life. Considering how much land we had, it left so much room to explore. It had areas to get away and a huge area to throw parties without anyone bothering us. I'd go back in a heart beat

The secret is to live in a small town near a big city. Balance is key.
I live in a small town/country I guess you could say. Personally I think it's the worst. Drama gets around, and it's hard to find someone to connect with. I'm not country whatsoever, but everyone around me is. I find it hard to consider myself happy here, but then again maybe i just need to switch towns?
GeminiJoey in the city its also hard to connect to people cause everyone is so focused on their own life and so busy.. :/ I live in a big city and would love to live in a smaller one
i 100% agree. i’ve lived in this town my whole life and i have no friends. i just wanna have a fresh start. people still see me as this annoying person. i did do things that i’m not very proud of but i’m just tired of everything. my school only has 1700 people. i know that seems like a lot but it really isn’t.
You said you lived in a small town not a?small city you have no perspective on whats *small*

I seriously just got back a week ago from traveling there, and i'm starting to hate it here in michigan. I'm dying to live there
I live in the countryside and I love it. Cities are far too crowded for my tastes, I like the simple life
I live in the country in Ireland and I couldn't be happier! Such beauty, open spaces and clean air.
I presume I'll move to a city for a few years when I'm working but I can't imagine bringing up children there.
ailish086 This is what I'm thinking. I'll probably move to London with my bf at some point (within about 6 months I should imagine) but when it comes to starting a family, I couldn't disadvantage them by bringing them up in a city. Children miss out on so much.
There are some kids who have never even seen a cow or sheep in the flesh, which is baffling to me. I couldn't do that to my kids
holderoftheheart
They will hate living in the countryside as soon as they hit 12!
holderoftheheart Haha I kind of have the same idea! Kids need a proper garden. I was teaching in a city school last year and I took the girls on a walk. They didn't know what conkers or helicopters were! I asked if they knew the different names of trees and they said all trees around housing estates look the same.. this made me sad for some reason :/
ailish086
well, do the rural kids know how to use subway system?
Ma St It's not hard to learn. Picked up the Tube on my first trip to London...
And I really doubt they'll 'hate it as soon as they turn 12' most of the people that I've grown up with say that they prefer the country to the city. It's just what you grow up with.
ailish086 and I know what you mean. When I was 6 we went to visit a nearby farm with the school and got to see all the animals. I still remember holding a fluffy yellow chick, so cute! Also the annual conkers tournament was so fun. A load of conker trees were near my school and a ton of people would go there after they finished to look for the best ones. It's sad that some kids will never experience that :(
I am totally a city person. I have all I want very close to me and the "stressful city life" never bothered me. I ap much more uncomfortable in country because I get bored easily
clotilde besson it's really boring in the. County
And sometimes theres so many rules you have to follow in the city while in the country its lesser and simpler
When I get bored..I walk out back to the barn/workshop and weld random nonsense just for a cheap thrill. Or I’ll work on my truck..because with an old Ford, you’ll always have something to work on. But my little small town is plenty enough for me, I got my family, buddies, and God to thank. I live in Washington, IL.
@@chrisgiddens6145 that's true but the country has hardly any place to buy groceries or buy medication if your sick. Like you said in other videos about country vs city there's pros and cons, so respect both of those environments ok?😊👍
Well that's why some people live on farms
They're always busy
I've lived in cities, rural towns, and the suburbs. I definitely prefer the suburbs. Nice, quiet neighborhood, but shopping and restaurants are very close. It doesn't take more than 15min to get just about anything that we could ever want or need.
I live in a rural town and I hate it here!
First I grew up and lived in a very big city with couple of millions people. Than I moved to "rural" with only like 200-300 people! That was a big change but I lived there just about 2.5 years. Now I live in a city with like 150 thousand people and it is the best. It is calm and peace but at the same time there are some places you can go to hang out.
James Ford how is 200 people urban
Dev L I think he meant rural.
Same
I like cities, but I would never be able to live in one. I love rural areas much better. I live in a town that has 300 to 400 people. I enjoy the wide open spaces and fresh air.
I absolutely love the city, I'm happiest when I'm there
I was born and raised in a city but we go back to my parent's rural hometown every summer and I can say, I prefer the countryside more than the city. Yes the city has its buildings and stuff but everything is fastpaced and its hard for me to keep up, and often stressing me out. In the countryside, its just more peaceful and chill.
I adore where I live (just answering the question haha) 😂
Yes your editing is GOALSSSS mine are weak af

I love living in the city and country. Both make me happy.
You are happier because of the people around you than the place
Yeup. Exactly it. City people and country people are different. Different motives. Different goals. And different forms of happiness.
I'd rather live in the country! I hate being a city girl.
I love the city
Then there's something wrong with you lok
@@bugfairy farmers>city people

i’m more of a city girl. went to the philly suburbs multiple times and i absolutely loved it.
Country person through and through ❤️always have been always will be
Going outside and being one with nature is soo stress relieving. There's nothing like it.
country. Quiet and peaceful.
As someone who lived in a very rural place growing up, then moving to a city for university, I was happy in both places.
I love the city, but I prefer not to live too close to the CBD or downtown. I'd stay in a neighbourhood a bit more quiet, but still have all the things the city offers within easy access.
yes! the suburbs would be a perfect fit for me. not too loud, but still close to the city.
Same
I went to West Virginia for a day...I wasn't happy
Retros King Lol, I Know what you mean.
west virginia is depressing
the thought really varies in what city you live in and what country side you're in. Im from Milwaukee and I absolutely love it and have country friends that also absolutely love it but nearly all of them have the big city dreams.
I grew up in a very small town where everyone knew everyone. I felt safe walking out at night. I have since moved to Springfield, IL, and while I'm happy where I'm at, I really miss the small town feel. If I ever get a really good job and car, I'm definitely moving back to my hometown.
I live in the Country and I LOVE it where I live. Everyone knows each other and most likely related somehow. It’s very relaxing and quite. And you can have lots of fun with friends and family. And going in the woods is the best part about it and doing country stuff
I like living in a city allot of things to do. Bands playing on the streets, exercise, parks, and very beautiful view at night.
I like the nature of trees, plants, and animals and especially i like riding my little truck in the dirt road without having to go through traffic its nice and easy
Chris Giddens That’s your opinion only.
I live in the suburbs so it's like half city and half rural. We have our large town square with shopping and restaurants, we also have parks, nature, and we have our dirt roads, lakes, and rivers.
Emily Greene it’s a fact really.
Traffic is non-existent in countryside

I've lived in small, rural towns pretty much all my life, save for the past 4 years of college. The town I grew up in was so small that it didn't have it's own zip code and I county hopped to go to school when I moved right before high school (I stayed in the same 4 school district it's just the town I moved to is like an honorary member of the county I went to school in). My graduating class was 89 students and sure, I have to drive 20 minutes to get groceries, but I miss it so much. I'll probably move back once I'm done with school. You just can't beat the quiet.
I've lived on a farm my whole life and everyone is so nice because we're all so relaxed and chill
I love cites A LOT but I would never live in one!! Always gotta have my small town where people actually say hi to each other and you have nature and peace and small town activities UGH I love it!!!
I personally hate living in my small rural little town. My family travels quite a bit and I've been to so many big cities and I honestly feel so much happier in those cities than I do in my town. The thing about my town is everyone is so small minded and ignorant towards any kind of difference. Not saying that every small town is like that, but what I absolutely love so much about the city is there are so many different kinds of people and there is acceptance almost in a way. My family is asian but my town is an all white community but instead of us being accepted and treated equally they treat us as if we are crazy and are lesser value than them. And me being all for equality, it really makes me mad. When I was in the cities I went to we weren't given a second glance because people accepted people of other races, while in my town if we walk around everyone stares at us. What I love about it is the diversity of the city. The universal acceptance. And in the city you have a lot of privacy which I also love. Honestly I love the city. And I hope to move there and get out of this hell.
Im Asian and I live in the city and there are tons of Asians, it's nice.
Yes finally someone who understands!! I’m definitely moving to the city I hate the small rural community i live in because people ask you uncomfortable questions like where you from and all this nonsense! They might be close to each other and know one another, but I want something better! 💆🏽♀️ being Hispanic is hard, but it won’t really matter in the future! So I don’t really care anymore!Especially if you are Latino, Hispanic, or Mexican you will be treated differently!! 😒
Yea rural areas tend to be more racist and conservative.
Schindler's Fist you obviously don’t know where I am coming from! It was annoying when I was young because kids my age would be like go back to your country or constantly call me a Mexican in front of other kids! It would sadden me because I felt American, but in other kids eyes I was different. I was a brown Mexican and I didn’t feel like they didn’t have to point out the obvious! Yeah I know my origin is Mexican and I’m proud! Now that I am older I am even more proud of my culture because it is part of who I am and how I live my life. I still get asked the same question by older people and it get’s annoying! Older people ask me if I am Indian or Mexican! Who wants people asking them that same question all the time! I feel like they are pointing out the fact that I am different. I am Mexican , but I am also American. I want to live my life like every other American. I view everyone as the same! Yeah the skin color is different, but we are the same!
City’s are loud filled with people screaming at one another and constant street fights country is full of cool farmers you love being outside
Thank you very much for the video! I used it for an ESL class with a 9-year-old. The vid is short enough, and the language quite simple, it came really handy!
"so if you like where u live you're one step closer to happiness."
thank you for telling me on how to achieve happiness
It's interesting how the old people instantly say they're happy, but the young people aren't sure or aren't happy... Hmm
The guy probably spent most of his life in LA, likely even grew up there.
Old people already have a full time line of stuff done and it makes sense that looking back they are overall happy. Younger people are insecure about the future,it's normal not to be so happy, we still need to figure out many things
I'm from a big city but went to grad school in a rural area. I gotta say, I felt happier in the country because people are more humble, the community seems stronger, lots of nature, green and sunshine, and definitely HUGE yards! I'd stay there if it weren't so far from family
I moved to my grandpa’s house from the suburban life in Arizona and into a mountain side of Montana. Even though I love the city life and the country life I would take living a dust old house in the middle of the Navajo reservation any day. Just the feeling of the waking up to a beautiful view of the sun rise and seeing the stars at night that just hit near home
City life is materialism centered.
Country life is nature centered.
I grew up in a big city and I love it. I think the rural area is beautiful but it's just not for me, it's too quiet. I love the hustle and bustle.
I prefer the country because it’s more comfortable.
My mom grew up in a more rural environment before moving to the city and she said she's much happier here. I'm also very happy living in San Diego :)
i want to move to a city as well! hope you guys are still happy in San Diego!
Opinion I I quess
The best place to live is not in a city OR a small town. The best place to live is out in the middle of nowhere. With lots of acreage. Where you can do whatever the heck you want and no snobby neighbors or law enforcement will bother you.
I love the city its the best. I live in the city just not downtown. I want to live in downtown when i am older.
Have you ever lived in the country?
Rylie Clark No, but I have lived in the suburbs so that's pretty close.
ashley778909 suburbs are nothing close to country
+Brenda Cx You realize that someone who breaks in your house could be from somewhere else and not necessarily from your city ?
+Rafael Serrano not actually, I live in the city and I love it pretty much.
I'm from the country, I will never live in the city because there is way to much noise and traffic and to many buildings and neighbors. Personaly I like a nice quiet area with lots of land to shoot guns, and ride four wheelers, so I like the country better
I live in a quite big city in France which is not at all constructed as American cities - see, for example, my city streets were not built so cars could easily drive. Cars adapted themselves to thousands-years old buildings - so they are smaller and don't drive in most of the town. It's also very near to the countryside (about a 10 minutes drive and 30 minutes walk) and very very near to Germany (a 5 minutes drive). I find myself to be very happy there.
I live in a rural town and I am happy, but I can't say that I don't like the city. Just another bit to add, I was talking to a clerk in a shopping centre in the city. We were talking about areas. She lives in the city, I live in a rural area. She said that she wasn't very happy there and would like to live in the country instead. I love rural areas in my opinion.
CriticallyObnoxious I love small towns as well, but I also like going to the city, I feel like there should be an inbetween not one or the other
+Ireland Monroe I do agree. My town though (Trim Co.Meath) is big enough and is getting a brand new supermarket so my town is fairly in between.
I was born and raised in the Country and now I live on a farm next to the suburbs. Living in the Countryside was much better but I'm very blessed and I'll move back to the countryside in a few years.
Plus when you live in the country you don't have worried about dating and relationships even when you live in the cities you still don't have to worry about dating and relationships but less in the city, and more in the country. I will be much happier in the country less drama. Hell even in suburbs even when is next to the farm.
God bless you sir
I’m so much happier in the city❤️

I love living in the country. I have my horse and my chickens couldn't be happier xx
Yep
I love dirt biking out there it's amazing
I used to live in the country in a trailer and my mom decided to move us to the city and now we have a house. I was sooo much happier in that trailer. In the city you have to watch what you say, what you look like, etc I just hate how I can't have any privacy.
I'm such a patient person, I don't get bored easily. Vegetation, animals, seeing people work in nature, everyone greetings, more energy and hard working mood more often, everyone talking with each other, no street lights stopping you to watch stars during night and just that peace and lack of cities distractions... way better than living in skyscraper, not even garden there, to much concrete, endless faces passing by, people don't care and I don't even enjoy shopping, everything is so loud, it's not what makes me happy... But not all cities are the same some, I prefer European cities...
The video is very useful since it gives us characteristics that each of these places have
City people tend to connect their happiness to what they own
True. I live in a rural area and work on computers so often I can see how much some of these farmers make. Many are multi millionaires but looking at their lifestyle you would never know.
In the city, I can access pretty much all of the aspects of rural life that I'm interested in. None of them.
I have lived Oklahoma. I now live in Chicago.
I live in a small farm town and I love home. Having land to grow your own food gives me the feeling of independence.

The suburbs: The best of both worlds :)
And the worst...
That is where all the soccer moms named Karen live.
i fell in love with new york city at a very young age :) i love my city, i oersonally could neVER live in the country, its beautiful but i would go crazy if i lived there
My husband and I live in the countryside in North Texas on 5 acres overlooking a lake. However we do our shopping and food in the suburbs and we sometimes head downtown.
WHAT WAS THAT SCREAM FOR IT WAS ABSOLUTELY UNNECESSARY MY HEART STOPPED
I’ve lived in both a city and a small town. I can definitely say that the small town life is a lot more friendly, laid back, and overall a great time. Also the small town was a high school town so they took a lot of pride in that. They even had a water tower with the high school logo on it. In the city it’s a lot different. People are worried about what their doing and couldn’t care less about you. Generally, people aren’t as nice and it’s a lot more crowded. But I do like the city life due to accessibility to everything but small town I think has to win.
I LIKE THIS GUY
I've lived in both the suburbs and countryside. But not a city (yet, anyway). I gotta say, it doesn't matter where you are, it matters who you are with!
I grew up in the county and now live in the city unlike most people who choose I absolutely love both as they both have their own advantages. I love the county because of the small town feel everyone knows everyone you are never to far away from what ever is happening, I love the city because of the massive variety you have a little bit of everything from restaurants to bowling alleys, I also love how many people are in the city there is always a new person to meet. Both have pros and cons so because of that I can't really choose.
Well I'm a country person through and through ❤️always have been and always will be

From a rural town.. I prefer the city.. People mind there business and the elderly dont ask me to clean there gutters! 😂
So your just lazy I guess
Living in Wales I can say I love where I live and am perfectly happy with my small little hometown that I love dearly
People who live in the city and enjoy it are happy people who live in rural country and enjoy it are happy put either one in the other area of life and they would haaaaaate it. Some people like fishing, camping, hunting and nature hiking etc. Others would rather go to a club or show a concert be able to shop late at night like the hustle and bustle of city life enjoy public transportation etc. Live and let live happily:D

All these "1st" people are actually not happy and they're seeking happiness through acknowledgement and recognition on the Internet. These attempts are empty and no one acknowledges an empty bottle, but what can fill the empty bottle.

I love the city. The fact that there's always something to do always a chance to meet someone new or to step out of your comfort zone
Based on my observation, people who live in rural areas are much happier and healthier. Tho, we need to keep everything in balance. Does anyone know what places have both urban and rural?
Only someone who has never lived in the country, walked outside at night to see the stars and have peace and quiet, can ask if a place can make you happy.
thats not something many people truly consider happinesses.
meeting friends on an river bank at night is more of an universal thought of feeling good about yourself
