Adventure Elliot is a bilingual travel vlogger (English and Spanish) with a particular interest in the Spanish speaking world. I enjoy taking adventures - big or small - and my goal is to show the Spanish speaking world 1 video at a time.
The goal of my channel is simple yet complex: I want to document and share authentic & educational content of anything related to Adventure Travel, Geography, & Language in the Spanish-speaking world. It's kind of a loaded topic, but it allows me to never exhaust my creative outlets. The truth is, I've always been extremely passionate about what I'm doing on my channel, but I never properly documented it when I started adventuring as a younger man in my college years. I've made over 150 CZcams videos in both English and Spanish, and I have aspirations to make 1000s more. If that sounds interesting to you, join the community and follow me along the way.. After all, we're just getting started.

How I Became FLUENT in Spanish and Moved to Spain!

U ain't fluent!!!
@@deckiedeckie echa un ojo a mi canal de español entonces.
Hi. Amazing video! Now you should visit second European Galicia! It's region in between Poland and Ukraine. Type polish Galicia! Greetings
You are not as fluent as you think you are, you actually sound like a child speaking Spanish and you accent is extremely obvious you are a foreigner. ;-)
Wow... This area of Galicia is very interesting to me especially the area of LUGO.
My last name is LUGO and I believe that my family name originated somewhere around there. My father was born in SAN GERMÁN PUERTO RICO.( 1933-2002 )
I am a 66 year old N.Y.C. 🇵🇷 born and raised in the Bronx.
My dad was had more of a TAINO INDIAN AND MY MOTHER ( 1934 - 2002 ) and was born in MARICAO, PUERTO RICO and had more of a FEATURES OF A SPANIARD.
I am an American Expat living in the Philippines 🇵🇭.
I married a Filipina in 2019 and my wife LOVES my SPANIARD FEATURES ( SOY BLANCO CON OJOS VERDE ).
I hope to travel someday to LUGO, SPAIN someday....
Thanks for sharing Amigo, safe travels.
Greetings from Ireland. To all our celtic cousins

I'm Galician and I've just cried watching this video. It makes me so emotional to think that a guy like you puts so much interest not only in our region but in our people, culture, tradition and story. Thanks for this video, it's wonderful ❤️
Could you please tell me the exact name of these villages that he walks through in Galicia because I am writing a novel and I want to use place like this to my writing
@@surasaad952 i wish I could but sadly I can't recognize them well, since we don't see many key places on the video. I know for sure one of them is Muxía (written like that, you could read it like moosheeah more or less), and if I remember well the video, he's leading to Finisterre (Roman name to the end of he world). Hope this can help!
I miss those smells, the OCEAN the EUCALYPTUS, the smells of the forest. ❤
Stop cutting onions while watching documentaries, perhaps it helps
Un Ourensano te saluda !!
Galician here.
The palms planted in front of the houses was, traditionaly, a symbol of a Indian house, meaning someone that went to South America and came back.
I don´t think nobody in galicia likes the eucalypthos, it is an invaside specie planted by the wood industry and it destroys the natural habitat of the native trees like Carballos (oaks) and wild pine trees. Eucalipthos are also one of the reasson why there are this uncontrolable fires that we are suffering every two or three years here, including this year 2022 where they have to evacuate a town the same day I´m writting this :(
The horreo had this legs so the rats do not eat the grain.
You also past through a cruceiro at 5:00 which is also a tipical galician structure that historically referred to a crossroad, with the christian cross on the top because in medieval times, bandits use to lurk on the crossroads to rob people, so it was an attempt to make the road somehow protected by Jesus or something.
It´s always a pleasure to have someone showing our culture and our way of living man ! Cheers
I know people who like the eucalypthos because they've sold them in order to make land that isn't worth much, pay for itself.
Why would it show Indian house because went to South America? I don't understand the connection. It looks beautiful in Galicia. I would love to go there.
@@merricat3025 Because the returned emigrants were called "indianos" so they built houses like those they had in America back then, these houses are known as "Casas de indianos"
Iam from India, Asia reading this. 😅 it took me sometime to understand your comment 😅
Because for the Spaniards who discovered America they believed they had found India, that's why native americans were called Indians, and why the Amercias were known as West Indies@@merricat3025
Bro, I can't thank you enough for this video. I'm Galician, and we had to stop traveling there because my Grandfather became ill with Alzheimer's Disease. I showed him this video and it brought him tears of joy hearing his home language, seeing his home country, and hearing you speak so positively of Galicia. We hope you really enjoyed your time out there, and thank you again for showing what a great place Galicia is.
You have the best CZcams handle ever. Glad the video resonated with you, I’m really proud of this one
Elliot, being a Galician man myself, you just nailed it. It sumarises perfectly people from this land, our language and customs.I was surprised how well you know abour our culture. Keep up the good work.
Totally agree

Being from the North of Portugal this is beautiful! Love my Galician brothers! Also I love the Galician language, it’s so similar to Portuguese especially Portuguese northern accent. It sounds like Portuguese with a Spanish accent, absolutely fascinating
/ Galician is a dialect of Portuguese Language
@@endouceurendouceur318 You mean Portuguese is a dialect of Galician. The language was spoken in North West Ibiera aka Galicia long before the Kingdom of Portugal was even founed.
No, before the Kindom of Portugal was founded people spoke Galician-Portuguese. That language over time gave way to both Galician and Portuguese@@edstar83
@@edstar83 actually the Galician language comes from Galician-Portuguese, which spread south with the expansion of the Christian Reconquest. So we can't say that Portuguese evolved from Galician, or vice versa. There was in fact an archaic phase, during the Middle Ages, called Galician-Portuguese, which came to be the language spoken on both banks of the Minho river.
Portugal was once called Sarbia
Thanks for this respectful view at our land: for being a traveler, NOT A TOURIST.
Unfortunately, you didn't quite undesrtand the Prestige's part. The beaches were saved completely by the voluntary work of the people: local and from other regions from Spain... the governments arrived veeeeery late, they left us alone...
A galician woman that actually enjoyed this video!!
My Grandmother on my moms lineage was born in Galicia Ourense province in 1896 Adelaida Santiago Corizco. I have finally been able to plan a trip to her Land in 24 . I am thrilled excited to vist this special place!❤❤
My grandparents are from Galicia. It’s an awesome and magical place. Nothing comparable with other places of Spain
I'd say there are plenty of places in Spain that aren't comparable with other places of Spain.
Maybe Asturias….. 😱🤣🤣🤣😘
When I say it’s not comparable I ain’t meaning it’s better. Just different, but better in many ways too. 😂
I live in Galicia. I'm American, but Galicia is my chosen home. I love the video, but it was disappointing to hear you have so many lovely interactions with the locals, then go on to say that despite that, Galicians are known to be unfriendly compared to other Spaniards. That has not been my experience at all. As a foreigner living here, I've been humbled to tears on many occasions at the kindness, helpfulness and openness of Galegos. I love them and hate for people to believe that if they come here, they would be met with suspicion or unfriendliness.
He said that they are initially reserved, not unfriendly.
@@tatianaschoenfield9819
We are not really that reserved, we are just too "to the point" for a lot of cultures. People think we are harsh sometimes but we just tend to not sugarcoat anything, so when someone comes and takes his time to get to the point (which is the common way of speaking in most places) it's probably going to get a "yeah, but what do you really want?" stare because tha's a suspicious way of talking here, you are hiding your true intentions (the question itself). It goes both ways for when we want to say a good thing, like the old woman who just said "Tonecho(name), this guy is lovely, come talk to him", straight to the point even when complimenting him.
A simple example:
"hey, do you know a place to eat?" to a complete stranger will have 100% of our atention and help.
"hey, hi, I'm Lucas, I'm traveling from Vasque Country to Santiago and I'm exhausted already, would you know a place to stay and relax around here?" will have a "what do you really want?" look until the "Would you know a place to...." because we just don't use that way of comunication, it sounds suspicious to us.
That's why we are famous for replying with another question. Because if things are not very clear, if we don't trust the question, we will use our own safety net which is asking to be sure.
@@chico_zombye thank you for your comment. I was only responding to the above post to mention what the man in the video said. Very interesting to learn your native perspective. That’s always helpful.
@@chico_zombye im Puerto Rican from The Bronx . my great grandfather is Galician . Frank Santos , now I know why everyone calls me a asshole . lol . im always to the point not sugar coating . them def my people. . my mission is to visit the homeland and try and find my family over there .

I’ve been searching for my ancestors for years. This is the first time I feel a connection. Thank you for sharing this.
Their skies are sooo blue! I must visit Galicia...
Living the dream, If I had a better grasp of Spanish and Portugese I would definitely backpack along the coast and see the lands of our ancestors.
Just go. You will find your tribe as you go...
I just did the Camino De COMPOSTELA, from Portugal (Porto), to Santiago. I walked the coastal route to the central, entered Spain through Tui. I'm 61, I did not train. It's one of the best ways to see this beautiful region
a truly magical nation in northwest of the peninsula iberíca (the first kingdom of Europe)
I emigrated from Argentina, I live near Santiago de Compostela. My grandparents were from Galicia, Asturias e Italy. Now I have to move to Portugal due to the increasing taxes to self employed people. It makes me very sad, I like it here. Gallegos are very nice, reserved, but very generous
Never saw so empty place.. Virtually devoid of people. These villages are beautiful
Not below freezing? I live in the least populated part of Galicia and I can assure you it drops well below freezing in winter quite routinely. :). Condolences for your grandfather - your work does him proud.
I love the Galician language!
Loved the video Elliot. Thanks for sharing our heritage and culture!
Galiza is for me the best part of Spain, alongside Basque Country. Abraços do norte de Portugal ;)!
Que gran esfuerzo Elliot, pero lo conseguiste💪, maravillosos paisajes gallegos y su gente, me encantó el video!! Precioso homenaje🙏❤
Another master piece Elliot. Beautiful video. My condolences to you and your family.
I don't hear my native tongue anymore. Being from Ezaro and away from there for so long I needed to hear this.
One of the most beautiful regions of Spain.
wonderful Elliot..you put your whole heart into this one...take care...
I truly enjoyed your video. My father was born in O'Grove, located in Galicia. When I travel to visit family in O'Grove, it takes several days for my brain to decipher the Galician speech and cadence. The language is a mixture of Spanish, Portuguese and a sprinkle of French. The area is beautiful and the people are friendly, but guarded. I'm glad you touched on the dark side of paradise. We lost a cousin (over 30 years ago) to a heroin overdose. Back then, the Spanish coast was largely ignored for illicit cargo. Today most of the drugs are trafficked in larger metropolitan areas. Thanks.
Hi Elliot! I'm galician too (as some other comments).
Just came to say congrats, it's a real pleasure having such a nice guy comunicating our land and how good you had "studied" about the things you were gonna find here. Love your work, man. Next step: to learn galician so you can come back even better, if it was possible. By my part, here you got a new suscriber from this "magic" place
