You probably recognize the flute and beginning instrumentals because it's been used in 5 million memes and edits lmao People made hating on "Sticker" and NCT's music their whole personality when this came out, so yeah I think the reaction to this song was hugely overstated, like people were freaking out for no reason. Being an NCTzen at this time was tough 😭 We were defending them with our lives like everyday lmao Yes the flute is weird and can need some adjustment, but I just never understood the way people acted like this was the worst or weirdest song of all time. I see what you mean about the piano though, even though its usually just the flute that throws people off. I love the piano though, it adds this lil funkiness to it that's really fun imo. I fucking love "Sticker" and always have. I REALLY hope you listen to the full album, including the repackage with "Favorite (Vampire)". You also have to watch the Uncut "Sticker" Recording Video, so you can see how the the NCT 127 members reacted when they heard the song for the first time, with the demo vocals. They were...flabbergasted LMAO Unfortunately the NCT members are the last ones to appreciate their best songs so most of 127 don't even like "Sticker" very much and it's like they do everything in their power to avoid performing it (it's also a very vocally difficult and tiring song so I get it). They had the lowriders because the mv concept was a southwestern-cowboy aesthetic, very Texas-coded. One of the most creative concepts imo because "sticker" kinda sounds like "stickup" so it fits. The keyboard/piano notes are done on purpose to create dissonance. Their singing is quite melodic and the focus here since the song is mostly stripped back. The 2 layered sound off and out of place for sure, I can see how it can be shocking to a lot, especially ones that don't listen to nct on a regular basis. But it totally fits with their approach to music and it's meant to make you uncomfortable almost and definitely question what is going on. They're forcing you to process sounds that aren't generic and just like you said, "expand your mind". Not everyone is capable of appreciating music on that level and the complexity of this thing tho, that's why the song gets a lot of hate. People are just used (I'm generalising here of course) to simple or easy to process sounds since that's what's usually promoted and what you'd hear on the radio. I love Mark's rap actually, it's the hardest part of the song for me, he sounds so saucy

tbh i really like the vocals/melody of sticker, it's just... the production?? why did we need to crank up the fuckass recorder to 11?? also wish there was a beefed up, fuller-sounding last chorus (aside from the ad-libs).
LMAO I can’t lie 127 production confounds me a lot because sometimes it sounds like the vocal tracks are raw and just placed on top of every instrumental layer and then sometimes elements of the beat are crazy loud..it adds a certain #freakiness to the music that some folks aren’t ready for I fear..
