The chain choreo is so intricate and “weird” looking but in the best way possible lol. I feel like the Chain album is really underrated. Their Japanese albums stand out so much to me in terms of cohesion in sound and concept. My absolute favorite album by NCT in general is 127’s 3rd Japanese mini album LOVEHOLIC, and the Awaken album is really solid as well. It’s a shame that they often get overlooked. Also, the version of Limitless in the Chain album is a little different, as it’s in Japanese and has its own separate music video. I’d definitely recommend checking it out on your own time if not in a video. The version of Come Back you listened to is also not the original Japanese version but the Korean version from their 1st full-length album Regular-Irregular. I definitely think the Japanese version is worth listening to as well. Fun fact: WayV also released a version of Come Back in Mandarin.

Seriously, some of my fav all-time 127 tracks come from the Awaken album. Loveholic is a gem too and I listen to them all the time.

the chain choreo is legit wonderful, it matches the weirdness (affectionate) of the song so well. Also, yes i realized literally as i was ending the video that the limitless version WOULD be in Japanese and thus different, and then NOW i found out via u folks that i used the wrong version of Come Back😭😭😭 a have caused great shame LOL i will revisit them surely

Thanks for the reaction! NCT 127's Japanese releases are actually good! I love hearing the connections you make to other music and artists. You mentioned Timbaland and early 2000's, and now I can't wait to see what all references you hear in Taeyong's "Shalala"; I think you'll love it! If you are not going in order and just want to start with a sample of just like 5 Taeyong songs for his enlistment video, I'll suggest "Shalala," "404 File Not Found," "Moon Tour," "APE," and "Ghost." (Man! It's so hard to pick just 5! TT) But whatever you choose, I'm super excited for it!

Glad my frequent music call outs are adding something! I honestly get like 20% worried ppl just never follow or care about it LOL but either way it’s fun :)
Im still trying to decide whether or not im going to do a full Taeyong album cycle or take a bunch of different songs like you mentioned, so that’s for the suggestions!

I'm so glad you're loving NCT, & unfortunately there are a lot of kpop fans that don't acknowledge the Japanese releases, but thankfully it's gotten much more common to not separate them from the rest of the discography...
Also, it's funny that you actually used a lyric video for the Korean version of Come Back that was on the next album Regular-Irregular & it's repackage, the debut of Jungwoo in 127, & you didn't even realize Jungwoo was there & had lines, or the language switch, but it's hard when they have so many versions of the same song, the next albums are the only albums with 10 members, as Winwin debuted again in WayV shortly after

yea I know at least for the other groups I listen to I know promo for Japanese releases is roettt focuses in Japan so the hype(?) doesn’t really build outside of the country i guess I can understand why..BUT i always eat them up so im happy lol
LMFAOOOO this is so embarrassing I tried to sound all confident in the first song about noticing and then a whole ass new song in a different language with different members comes on and I don’t even realize 😭😭😭😭😭

@@Strokiemane I started off as a jrock fan, & actually found kpop through looking up anime soundtracks in 2008, so I always love Japanese releases, but it's also that rock is not really popular in Korea, something I will never understand, so you can definitely tell the difference in tracks made for that market...
SM has always tried to play both markets with their groups especially, most of their groups have as big of a Japanese fanbase as Korean, & in some cases the Japanese fanbase is bigger, but NCT was made for the purpose of having members/units from all over, a concept Lee SooMan had been trying to see through for years inspired by Japanese groups like AKB48 & the Exile Tribe groups, also trying to get a group that could survive enlistment since most of them aren't Korean, so we knew a Japanese NCT unit was coming from the announcement of the group, so with members from Japan & NCT Wish finally debuting as the Japanese subunit, it's hard to separate the promotions, SM used to be the same with Chinese promotions, focusing on them just as much, Exo being like a beta version of NCT, & b4 that Super Junior M, but the political situation has made it almost impossible to promote groups the same way there, but that's mainly why WayV isn't called NCT Vision like intended & are more separated during promotions

If you do check out TY’s solo stuff, I definitely recommend adding the CHOOM performances for SHALALA and TAP as well! His stage presence is unmatched and it’s highlighted VERY well in those videos!

Their Japanese albums are excellent (and it is always a joy to see Yuta performing or promoting at home)
In fact, most if not all SM artists have excellent Japanese releases. Their artists since 1 and 2nd gen (especially BoA and TVXQ) made a concerted effort to promote there since the early 2000s. SM has also had a long term partnership with Japanese label Avex trax.
When SM was facing serious financial difficulties in the early 2000s, it was BoA's career and popularity in Japan that really saved their butts. In fact, TVXQ is called by those four letters based more on the Japanese pronunciation of their name than the Korean, that is how big they are in Japan.
Japanese releases don't get promoted in the same way as Korean albums (so they might be ignored by international audiences) but they also don't really need to be. They have such huge fan bases in Japan that those albums are going to have a big audience just there. And fans with taste take the time to listen to those albums too because they are so good!

Ah interesting! i believe i heard that Japan is the second biggest music market in the world, so focusing there definitely makes a bunch of sense. Crazy to hear about the company’s dedication/reliance on Japan (and BoA) for them to keep everything going lol
And u are sure right, this album is legit good lol
