Agnetha - like most swedish singers - started out in what we call Dansband (think swedish country music). She started at the age of 16 yrs so when she recorded this song she had a long experience. That combined with raw fantastic talents brings success. Voice of an Angel!

Agnetha Fältskog has said in interviews that she approaches a song as an actress playing a role. Inhabiting the emotional content of the lyrics comes first, before the actual "singing." How fortunate that she happened to be gifted with a technically perfect voice to carry the emotional heft of the songs!

I special love Agnetha voice, is in my Top 5 of all voices (male and female)
but I must say that in ABBA both female singers have the same importance
part of the Essence of ABBA is the fantastic harmonies of the two amazing singers Agnetha & Frida

    • @wajj1842
      @wajj1842 Před 2 lety +9

@@eduardooscar309 I certainly agree, Eduardo, that the "essence" of ABBA is that magical harmony they produce. And to say that Agnetha is the essence of ABBA was probably a stretch. But still, she is the lead vocalist in most of there songs (when there is a lead), and my favorites are when she takes the lead, e.g. "the winner takes it all"; "chiquitita". But I also love Anni-Frid's voice when she is the lead ("fernando"). But you are certainly right---it is that magical harmony between the two women that is the "Essence" of ABBA. Best wishes, Eduardo.

    • @chelseacharger
      @chelseacharger Před 5 měsíci +1

@@wajj1842 Agnetha has a wonderful voice but I have to correct something. Not counting various foreign language versions, ABBA have released approximately 107 songs on all their albums and stand-alone singles. Of those, Agnetha is lead vocalist on 25 of them. Anni-Frid is also on lead vocals for 25 songs. They are on joint lead vocals on about 37 songs. The remaining 20 songs are where all four sing together (mostly these are on the early albums), Bjorn lead, vocal songs, Benny's one lead vocal and instrumental numbers. So you see, the total songs were divided up very equally, ie. neither Agnetha or Anni-Frid alone are lead vocalist on most of the songs. The biggest single proportion is them sharing the duties. I think when fans favour a particular voice, they tend to hear it more in harmonies and end up thinking that voice is more 'lead vocals'. There will be those who favour Anni-Frid who will believe she is more prominent for the same reason. And of course, at a certain pitch, they sound almost as one on particular songs like 'Dancing Queen', 'Mamma Mia' and 'That's Me'. They are a special combination..

"The winner takes it all" (1980)
is Their most saddest song, it's a heartbroken song, although at the same time it is a beauty of music and song, with a raw but excellent lyrics, it's a Masterpiece
the blonde singer Agnetha has said in other interviews that She likes to sing melancholic or sad songs, because She can act and interpret the feeling of the lyrics.
that's what She does here, in this song; the lyrics are not about the reality of Her marriage and divorce with guitarist Björn (although it can include part and was inspired by), She acts interprets and sings, it is Flawless Unmatched and Unforgettable
Agnetha and Björn separate at the end of 1978 with two small children; the legal divorce occurs in the middle of 1980, a year and a half later; and that's when Björn writes the lyrics, on a melody that the pianist Benny had already elaborated, and Björn himself makes a demo with his voice
"The winner takes it all" was voted the best ABBA song by British fans between Their 25 singles edit in UK
it is also the favorite song of both: Agnetha and Björn
It gives ABBA the eigth #1 in UK and last Top 10 in US (#8 in Billboard at 1981) and #1 in Adult Contemporary
For a next reaction I suggest their First worldwide hit, the Icónic:
    "Waterloo" (1974)
    but Not the Official Video
(it's good and now in 4K Quality)
it's better to see and react the live perfomance at the famous Eurovisión Song Contest, when ABBA win with these iconic song and begin your worldwide career:
    czcams.com/video/3FsVeMz1F5c/video.html
    or the masterpiece "S.O.S." (1975)
Their second worldwide hit (after "Waterloo") and the song that gives ABBA your identity as a pop group
or their second Biggest Worldwide hit: "Fernando" (1976)
with the brunette singer Frida as lead voice, to see all the voices of ABBA
    See you in next video
I wish you a great weekend
    My best regards from

Actually surprisingly according to Björn who wrote and composed the song, it hasnt do anything with divorce or something like that. Björn told, it was just from a party he came from, and he was drunk, and went alone home, and - it was a half hour walk, and this melody came into his head - he literally wrote down the song in a half of an hour, and next day he showed it to the other members of the band, and they only did small changes - and the song was done. It was literally one of the fastest song he ever written. He was just kissed by the inspiration on that night.

I liked your reaction, on one of my most favorit ABBA song. The song is so moving... at some place, when she sings, it's almost a cry.
The album version (at least on one CD) has a few more seconds at the end whil the music is repeting.
Now i have to see if you made other abba reacts.

Björn, her ex made the lyrics to this song. Agneta was at first hesitating to sing it because of their divorce before. But Agneta is and was a strong lady and she took the challenge and how she made it. She has so much soul in her songs and is a good storyteller in the songs. I've followed these guys since the 1960-ies. I'm in Bennys age and seen them live. Björn was i the beginning in The Hootenanny Singers and Benny in The Hep Stars. In ABBA björn wrote the lyrics and Benny the music parts. The girls participated in all songparts and the arrangements. Anni-Frid began early 14-years old mostly singing jazz. She also made solorecordings before ABBA. Frida is a mezzosoprano and has such a smooth and soothing voice. Agneta got her piano as a 6-7 years old from her parents and she also took lessons. She began as a singer in a danceband and later made solo records with her own lyrics and was a composer to her music.

Love your reaction to these old classic songs, and I think you nailed it, it‘s so emotional. Btw. they say, that a pregnant woman is twice as pretty as usual, which you proofs to be true .. wish you and your beloved the very best and keep going. Thank you and best wishes from Germany

It’s just a mystery to me that she can sing this song with so much feeling, going to a divorce at that moment when this song was released. If I was the one singing, I will probably be crying the whole time and not finish the song. Love Agnetha even back when I was young. She is an artist, artist! Outstanding job Agnetha! And thanks for sharing this video/song Schnell Jordan. I am now a subscriber to your channel! Thank you!

The song was written by her former husband (guitarist). Her ability to separate her emotions from the delivery is amazing considering he was involved with another woman. I am basing that on an interview from years later. Love her voice.

Elvis and Abba are my favourites. Her and Elvis both take you in on a journey. Both made me cry. When i was 15 mum introduced me to ABBA. I worn her record out. I was soo emotionally hijacked by the lyrics n singing. When i heard later on my early 20s this song was wrtten n sung by her n they were divorced my heart was broken for them 😢.
