- Here I show how to replace the Coolant Reservoir that seems to crack every year. I have replaced this thing 4 times now at least. Oh well its easy and cheap fix. I always use G12 coolant from Volkswagen as its not expensive and its nice to have around. You can buy it from the dealer and its NOT pre diluted.
Reason for replacement is that it cracks and looses all coolant which causes the motor to overheat.

Mine is dropping all the coolest from the little opening at the bottom, I might replace it incase something is broken from the inside.
Yeah thats normally where it leaks from.
Mine too did you fix it?
Yes, i replaced it with a new one that came with a new cap too. The cap was the fault.@saulmartinez5540
This has been me to, as of current date...I dont think they have made changes to these jugs yet. Still crap and costly losing coolant, putting people at risk over heating, not to mention breaking down. Basically a road hazard if you can not get pulled over because car is blocked in 6 lanes of traffic.
Yeah.. I had to get my car towed I think 3 times... very frustrating.
Tell me why my dad took this to get replaced in his car by some guy and the guy kept the car for 2-3 months. If it ever cracks again I’m replacing it myself. I thought the dude was talking too long and I just confirmed it.
The soonest i had to replace one was 3 months. But normally it would last about a year. Almost need to have a spare in the trunk...
Does it hit or rest on something that's cracking it?
Unfortunately there is not. This is a common problem with Volkswagen coolant reservoirs in general. Its not expensive and its quick to replace.
