- 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3L K&N 77 series CAI, pacesetter long tube headers, no cats, no resonator, Corsa db series 3" exhaust, custom tune (EFI Live software, made by Black Bear Performance)
1st: Cold start
2nd: revs
3rd: WOT
4th: Down shifts
5th: Interior cab noise
Also if you're trying to look at the speedometer for acceleration research, do note that 90-100mph was up hill and the truck is also crew cab, 3" lift, 4wd, on 33" mud tires, and factory 3.42 gears.
And yes the check engine light is on. It's just two down stream O2 sensor codes that were not deleted when making the tune but have been fixed now. Other than that the headers were good for the price, and the tune in perfect for power and drivability increases.

WHATSTHETIME11 personally I liked the short tubeheaders nice aggressive tone but if I could do it again I'd go with long tubes

thaks for sharing ijust put a flow master on a 2015 silverado and I don't like the way it sounds but your video put me at ease on what it would sound like with headers on from in side the cab thanks again

Im running LT headers no cats dual flowmaster mufflers to 45 rear dump and it sounds just like yours!!

How did you go about tuning out the rear 02's. i know you need the pre cat 02's but im planning on getting long tubes like that without cats. Trucks throwing a po430 code and now i have all the more reason to install long tubes.
Black Beat Performance did the tuning for me. In the tune they deleted all down stream O2 activity

Well this is an excellent comparison. Looks like you would rev higher between shifts on 2nd run. Is that part of the tune? Also any MPG differences between stock/upgraded exhaust or even from the mods you posted vs stock in general? The mods you posted are actually about exactly what I am looking at for my 01 truck, just researching for now.... Thanks
Yes the tune made it shift later and quicker. Also the intake and tune both increased the mpg by about a 1 mile per gallon each. Headers depends on your driving because mine went down a few because I now drive with heavy feet because I like the sound too much. Also it's hard to tell because I put larger tires on it too when I did headers

finally someone has done a damn good comparison. i have a volant cold air kit and corse db exhaust. ive been debating Doug thorley tri-y headers because i have a 4.8. you sold me! one question though hows the fumes smell any in cabin?
I only smell the fumes basically if I sit still for a while like at a long stop light or when I let it warm up.
I installed headers last year on my 01 sierra... not really any fumes at all inside the cab maybe with the windows open and I floor it a little I notice them
was the ONLY difference between the two sound clips the headers????? or did you add the exhuat piping, y pipe AND headers in between?
It was the same exhausts for both. The difference was headers, Y pipe, cut out cats, and cut out resonator.
I have a 2008 chevy Silverado z71 5.3l I wanna put long tube headers on how much the fitment and did you notice any performance with no cats ?
I installed them my self but most shops install for about 400$. Also not sure about power gains with no cats due to header installation and deleting cats being done in same procedure

@Alex Perry so should I fab up my own y-pipe since I have a 2013 4x4? or buy the pacesetter y pipe and just mod it until it has enough clearance to fit? I'm buying the pacesetter long tube as well
My advice would be buy the pacesetter Y pipe and mod it till it fits. If you can get it to fit then that's the best choice because it's even diameter ever through the bends so it flows well. I haven't attempted to rig that up but all the reviews I read said it didn't fit 4wd and to ignore where it says it does.
+Alex Perry ok well I went ahead and ordered the long tube headers already. so should I just go ahead and order the y pipe also? cause I read a lot of reviews on Amazon and it had a lot of negative reviews and fitment mostly. I just didn't wanna buy it then a muffler shop charge me extra just to have to mod it to make it fit. but I also understand when you mention the flow part about the y pipe

George GMC Sierra Denali "cold air" intakes won't add any power. the power comes from the tune

Great comparison video!! I just completed a cam install with new springs lifts push rods etc also deleted dod, my headers were on back order but I now have my pacesetters sitting in my back seat 😁. Did you do the headers yourself? Trying to find out if they will hook right up or not without modifications

This thing sounds amazing! How much was it all together with the install if you don't mind me asking?
The headers were just under 500$. Being I work for a GM dealership I installed them so that was free, but I know some shops do install for probably around 400$ or less. As far as Y piping goes I'd suggest pacesetters Y pipe if you have a 2wd (priced at 150$). If it's a 4wd like mine be prepared to have the world largest pain trying to rig some up

Have u ever run in down a track? If so how'd it do with the 3.42?
The only track I've been down is a 1/8th mile and I ran 9.2 flat. Next supporting mod will most likely be 4.10 gears. The 3.42s aren't too great when you add the 33" tires in the equation
+Alex Perry thats exactly why i asked. I have the same setup just waiting on the tune til i get 4.10's since it'll need retuned anyway.
I noticed on the after you have your engine light on does that have to do with anything as far as O2 sensors???
Joey Joe yes it was because I did not have the rear O2 sensors in due to it being a catless system. These codes were later tuned out and engine light is now off

Joey Joe yes tune is highly recommended and not always but usually gas milage increases depending on quality of tune

No, an exhaust shop welded the headed to the cat back

Ryan Denton No the Pacesetter headers where ceramic coated so they insulated all the heat made from them. Now I have American Racing headers that are natural finish (no coating at all) and even then I still don’t have any heating issues. I also live on the coast of Alabama so it’s hot year round

Alec Bishop because he put on long tube headers which delete the catalytic converters. all he needs to do is take it to get a costume tune!
shorty headers will bolt right on to the stock cats and youll get no check engine light but you wont get as much hp and torque.

@@bryantj2333 yeah you'll get some power not unless the Silverado has shorty headers from the factory and not a block style manifold. My SRT8 Challenger for example comes with shorty headers from the factory. So swapping aftermarket shorty headers wont let me more HP. My 2015 Silverado also has a shorty header style exhaust manifold.

Hunter Broussard cheapest price I find on most anything is at Texas Speed and Performance or Summit Racing. These specific ones were purchased from Summit Racing.

Is the engine light from the O2 sensor?
Yes, it only has 2 codes. And are both down stream O2 sensor codes which aren't present in this application due to the missing catalytic converters.

Chubby83111 Black Bear performance host tuning events across the US from time to time and it was at one of their tuning events I got it tuned. However they do offer custom tunes via email as well

adam brakke past 70 mph it got kinda bad. I got a new set up now with American Racing Headers and Hi flow cats and it's a lot less drone. That drone don't kick in till about 80
Thanks for the reply just placed an order for some speed engineering headers and y-pipe combo because they are a little budget minded for my 09 sierra. Bad thing is I have the full 3in. Flowmaster outlaw super 10 dual cat back on it right now, surprisingly no drone at any cruising speed at the moment but Im sure that will change......

Acbassin People have asked before and I think it’s only available on certain year models cause i just cycle through the trip buttons and it’s on the same thing that shows odometer, trip, miles to empty, gallons used, timer, average mpg and current mpg
