Former Scotland striker Chris Iwelumo has described Ondrej Kudela's 10-man ban as "laughable" and called for lifetime bans to be issued to players found guilty of racial abuse.
Slavia Prague defender Kudela was handed the suspension by UEFA for "racist behaviour" towards Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara, who will serve a three-game suspension.
Kamara said he was racially abused by Kudela during the second leg of Rangers' Europa League last-16 tie against Slavia at Ibrox on March 18. Kudela insisted he swore at a Rangers player after being fouled but denied using racist language.

@@andytc4840 It is definitely good idea to not allow players to talk while covering their mouth to the oposing players. Once implemented it can help in similar cases - you covered your mouth - you are automatically guilty. That is great idea and UEFA should implement it.
Unfortunately that is not the case at the moment and baning possibly innocent player (or possibly not innocent... we just don't know for sure) for 10 matches is highly unfair to say at least. Especially when Kamara gets laughable 3 match ban for actual criminal act of assault and battery done in front of multiple witnesses. So far there was no evidence presented that Kamara was racially abused and UEFA even did not give any explanation, why or based on what they decided to give Kudela 10 match ban. In other words - he got 10 match ban for covering his mouth.
IMHO this decision was purely political. Czechia is no heavy weight on global scale, while GB has huge influence and thanks to premier league also bring a lot of money to UEFA. You could see the clear bias and pressure from the beginning, when all the british press considered him guilty before any decision was made and while Kamara's side of the story + opinions of his friends etc. was constantly pushed forward, no one bother to ask the other side...

English football is way too important for UEFA, so they definitely cannot afford some English teams doing some "protest gestures" against UEFA. Czech vs British team will just not be treated equally, because of the money they bring.
If you treat unfairly player in Britain, it will be all over news everywhere. But if you treat unfairly some player somewhere in eastern Europe, it will make local news, it will not get much (if any) attention anywhere else. Just look how much "coverage" got the Kamara's assault... no English media actually cover that story or if they did, they just dismissed it as pathetic counterclaim.

From the very beginning, Rangers and the coach swore, threatened, ridiculed Slavia and racistly insulted some of them. Stancio has heard several times that he is a Romanian gypsy. Olayinka and Deli were offended even worse. Rangers players threatened Slavia Prague that if they did not let them win, they would not return home. When Slavie scored, violence and lynching began on Slavia's players. The goalkeeper was almost killed, several other players were seriously injured, and they kept insulting and cursing them until one of Slavia Kudel's players kept up and told them something, even though he didn't speak English. an hour after the match, Kamara came to Kudela and punched him. If you asked him point blank 'is a 10 match ban for racist behaviour laughable?' he'd very likely say straight out 'yes' because it's fairly apparent that his opinion is that he wants racism out of the game, that he wants UEFA to deal with it appropriately, and that he thinks a minimum of a year-long ban is what's appropriate.

      1) No evidence Kudela was racist. He spoke for 1.09 seconds, 3 witnesses who stood as near as Zungu claim that they heard nothing at all. Kúdela's English is terrible. What Kamara claims was said is quite eloquent English and certainly much longer than 1.09 seconds. Kúdela presented his version right after the game and didn't change it. Kamara presented 4 versions of what was already, Zungu also presented 2 different versions and they don't match with Kamara's. When it's Kamara's vs. Kúdela's opinion, the law dictates "In dubio pro reo" - when in doubt, favor the accused.
      2) Kúdela spends holidays with his teammates of coulour and helped them settle in the country.
      3) The whole Slavia success is built upon Czech-African team chemistry.
      4) Kúdela covers his mouth like this instinctively when talking to coach, teammates and opponents, Slavia provided evidence of that from last season from nearly every game.
      5) UEFA investigator found no evidence of racism in his final statement. The comission then contradicted his recommended verdict and chose a punishment from "racist" column. But the lowest one possible. (Bad conscience about political verdict?)
      6) It's all a big coverup of disastrous and violent Rangers performance on the pitch - 2 red cards, should have been 4 or 5, the whisper incident happened seconds after 2 Rangers players were kicking Slavia player who was on the ground after previous foul - and off the pitch - locking Slavia on the pitch post game for nearly an hour, not letting team doctor to goalkeeper Kolář (fractured skull) for 20 minutes, Kamara beating up Kúdela on agreed upon meeting with presence of Gerrard and UEFA, then Gerrard taking solo press conference where he defined media narrative - unopposed. Media happily fulfilled all his wishes. They bet on that nobody will re-watch the game and will just spread their talking points in a lazy fashion and will resort to standart "racism bad, mkay?"

I'm not actually sure what comparison you're trying to make here because they're different issues entirely other than the fact that they both happened on a football pitch in the UK - one is assault by a fan with video evidence in 2019 at a second-flight match, the other is alleged racial abuse by a player that is only hearsay at best in 2021 in a European-level competition.
I'm pretty sure if Jack Grealish was assaulted on national TV after "Brummy football players who play as an attacking midfield for Aston Villa with long hair and low socks Lives Matter" became a worldwide cause that everyone became aware of, the knobhead who punched him would have gotten more than one month in prison.

I don't agree that the club should be banned from anything even in that case, although you can make the case for Kudela to be sacked/heavily reprimanded. I think the punishment just needs to be far more severe than 10 games banned for one guy, it should be a huge fine. Kamara presented 4 versions of what was said already, Zungu also presented 2 different versions and they don't match with Kamara's.
