Both characters had good character reasons to be upset about it, but the actors made it clear it was just for story. Critters took it very personally and got very upset taking sides
I love that Liam’s accent seems to be contagious and jumps around the cast members 😂
I really like how that Counterspell ability works, automatically returning to vault after use so you have to expend more resources to make it usable again. Definitely should change the flavor of wizard battles compared to 5e.

While I miss the good Mr. Riegel terribly, I really hope he's taking a much deserved break with his family for some vacay, or something else fun.
I'm not sure the reason for his absence but I heard it was to work on another project.
I’ve heard that Daggerheart has had some reworks. I should check back in. The system is very cute and I would love it if it were great. CR has done a ton for the TTRPG community and the game being successful would be an awesome way to support them.
Give it a couple weeks. There's going to be another big update the beginning of July which will be the last update. The end of July will be the end of the beta before the team works on the final draft for publishing.
The current version is 1.4, released on 7th May. It is fun and players can customise their characters a lot.
I just finished the legend of vox machina and found out about you guys.

I love seeing the level ups :) Great insight into the system and how they're playing it. Also I really needed the laugh this morning :) Travis transforming into a furry buff beetle wizard is not what I was expecting on today's bingo card, but I'm here for it.
I'm curious, Liam's ability card says "any" ally within the protective zone gets the benefit of the protection and then the dice rolls down? To me that reads as "every ally" within the zone gets the damage soak at that level, so for eg if it was an AoE effect, the whole bubble would soak a d8 *each * for that hit, not just one person within the bubble, then it would go down to 7. Am I misinterpreting that? Slightly ambiguous wording perhaps?
Also, I really enjoy the energy shift at the Menagerie table, feels different to the Bell's Hells table somehow (to be clear because this is the internet, I love both games, this just feels *different * to that and it's neat to see how the new system changes the energy at the table.)
Yeah the "any allies" wording makes it sound like multiple allies can take the damage reduction. If it was only meant for one ally like Liam was explaining then it would say something like "an ally" or "one ally".
I noticed the energy change when they did the 1st session. I think it's a combination of things that C3 and DnD just don't have. 1. It's their own creation. It's insanely exciting to preimerie something you've been working so long and hard on. 2. Since it's their creation it's made catered to how they like to play so things are more in line already. 3. It's like they are starting a new campaign and that newness is always exciting. We saw it at the start of C2 and C3. 4. The way they all got to add landmarks on the map that related to their character was a gret idea to get each person invested in the world.

What's really going to help people adopt this new game is a digital platform for character sheets, just like D&D Beyond. I have to imagine CR already has people working on this. I know they have a website already, but something beefier than that.
If you mean one specifically by CR, then maybe, but just in general online? It's been out for months for free on Demiplane.
demiplane is a massive site with a huge amount of support for TTRPGs. they also just merged with Roll20 so you can run daggerheart through there with character sheets that easily rival beyond20

I have found that in RPGs increasing your damage die is just a little underwhelming, until you increase it by a bunch. Going from a 1d6 to a 1d8 is a minimal increase, same for 1d10. So I don’t blame Ashley for not taking the ability that changes her help dice to a d8. Maybe they could up the hope die increase to a d12 or 2d6, then it feels like a proper increase.
Yeah, it reminds me of when getting Advantage in dnd just meant getting a +2 on your roll.
The duality swapping bonus effect did seem pretty powerful, though I must admit I have no concept of the balance in this TTRPG yet

I really wish the “either multiclass or specialize” option was guaranteed at levels 5 and 8 instead of having to spend a level up point on them. I like that you can only do one or the other, but I dislike that you’re not automatically granted one of them
If its rules as written, Travis’s card he took at 6th level stated “it cannot exceed your size” or something, so he can only make beetle sized doors 😂

I haven't really watched daggerheart at all, is the story worth it, my friends?
Yes. It started with them just play testing the system, but the characters were interesting enough and the game was fun enough that they decided to keep doing them. Right now it's just an excuse to show how the game works at the higher levels as well. That's why they leveled twice. Not normally part of the game system. But it is highly entertaining. Feels a bit like an extended one-shot rather than another campaign.
Is it only me or the abilities/spells of this game really focus about space control and tactic? Pretty map dependant

I really don't like that CR has started cannabalizing their viewership by trying to push new products. From a business sense, it's damaging to the brand; and in the long-term, businesses seldom benefit from this practice since it fragments their focus with the customer.
